ARCHIVED Ian's Allergen Free Line
angel-jd1 replied to a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
They now even have gluten-free corn dog bites. They sound good!! I'm excited, but I haven't found them in the stores yet. I like the fish sticks more than the chicken nuggets. They both seem a little dry to me, but better than nothing on nights when you don't want to cook. -Jessica -
ARCHIVED Online Recipe Sites
angel-jd1 replied to angel-jd1's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I'm sure not EVERY recipe on those sites is gluten free, because they are just regular ol recipe sites. What I do is convert any ingredients to gluten free if I find a recipe that I like. I was really just wanting other folks to post the recipe sites that they use. Hopefully they will -Jessica -

ARCHIVED Good Gluten Free Pie Crusts?
angel-jd1 replied to momandgirls's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I'm going to throw in my vote for gluten free pantry pie crust mix. I love that stuff. Don't expect it to behave exactly like flour crust, it's kinda difficult to roll out and make look beautiful, but it tastes SO yummy. My favorite pies are butterscotch and lemon (not made with pudding please, homemade ONLY) I'm sure that one of those stores would... -

ARCHIVED Honey Comb
angel-jd1 replied to happy4dolphins's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
If I remember right, that cereal has oats. I would have to look it up to be totally sure. You were probably glutened. I totally stay away from oats. There is no way to guarantee that there isn't cross contamination with them. Also there are some celiacs that react to the protein in oats. So, personally, I steer clear. It sounds like you need to also ... -
ARCHIVED Buying A G/f Cook Book
angel-jd1 replied to happy4dolphins's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I find that we use our gluten free cookbooks more for the desserts section. For main dishes, I use all the things I cooked pre gluten-free days and substitute ingredients that are safe. I also LOVE online recipe sites. They are so fun and FREE Gotta love that. -Jessica -
ARCHIVED Argo Cornstarch?
angel-jd1 replied to bluelotus's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
No problems with argo for me either. Possibly you have a corn intollerance?? -Jessica -
I hate that I always and forever more will be a label reader. I hate not having the convenience of eating whatever I want and "only" worrying about the fat content/calories. Instead I have to check ingredients THEN worry about fat/calories. I hate not eating what everybody else is eating at large family dinners. I hate when my cousins husband...

ARCHIVED Lunch Suggestions
angel-jd1 replied to jackie4's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
If your kiddoes like what you fix for supper, then send the leftovers for their lunch the next day. You can warm them up and put them into a thermos. You could also ask the school to let them use the microwave to warm up their lunch. (I'm pretty sure they would comply if they are asked and explained about the special diet restrictions). I find that... -
Reading this post reminded me of some kids books. The first one being "Everyone Poops" and the second one being "The Gas We Pass, the story of Farts". Check them out from the library for her, at least she might get a good laugh. They are for kids, but I know when I read them, I giggle!! ARCHIVED Egg Roll Recipe
angel-jd1 replied to angel-jd1's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Yum!! I'm sitting here eating egg rolls as I type. I thought I would share the recipe that I used. The process is time consuming, but it made about 30 egg rolls. I put most of them into the freezer to eat later. I tried frying some and baking some. The frying made them greasy but crispy. The baking was way less grease and still pretty crispy. I think I'll... -

ARCHIVED What Unusual Concoctions Do You Enjoy?
angel-jd1 replied to jaten's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I love cottage cheese sprinkled with black pepper and a bag of ridged potato chips Baked beans and plain potato chips When I was a kid I would always put potato chips into my sandwiches to make them crunchy!! (since I don't really eat bread now I really miss that) -Jessica -
Looks like the same list that I recieved, used it, showed it to them at the place, still got sick -Jessica

Recently got a gluten-free list from the corporate people at on the border. Today I got brave and tried their food. I ordered the fajitas (beef and chicken) no onions, no sour cream and corn tortillas (not put through the warmer). All items that were supposed to be safe. The waitress was WONDERFUL! She brought out my corn tortillas herself, so that the cooks...

Since everyone is talking about fabric softner sheets, here is this e-mail I had gotten a while back about them and their uses. I don't know for sure if some of them work, but I have used a few of them before like putting a sheet in the trash can. -Jessica And all this time we've just been putting Bounce in the dryer: 1.
