  1. Jessie, If you have a positive biopsy, you DO have celiac disease. Hang in there, it will take a while for you to heal. And ditto what Paulina said about dairy. Many celiacs are lactose intolerant when first diagnosed. I had the same problem - I was still getting sick and bloated after being gluten free for 2 months, then I finally realized it was...
  2. My husband and I got married at Sandals in St Lucia (see my avatar picture!). It was great. It was before I was gluten-free, so I can't say how it would be to try to eat there. We had a great time, everyone was super friendly, they had live music every night out on the beach, and they did a fantastic job with our wedding. The only advice I would give...
  3. A Big Mac! Boy do I miss Big Macs. That's really about the only thing I *really* miss.
  4. I hate eating out too. It is so risky. I usually only eat out if they have a gluten free menu. If they don't, I just eat before we go - that way I am not hungry watching everybody else eat. Hope you feel better soon!
  5. You should share the recipe!
  6. That has always been my biggest (and most painful!) symptom of getting glutened. It has brought me to tears a few times It usually lasts a few days, then goes away completely.
  7. Move to Mexico! Just kidding - could it be a delayed reaction to something? Hope you feel better.
  8. I remember when I was a kid at birthday parties, I ate what I could (chips, ice cream) and always brought snacks along. My mom definitely felt more sorry for me than I did for myself! I didn't really care - all my friends knew about it, and I just got used to it.
  9. Thank you! I will try that this weekend - sounds delicious
  10. Does anyone have a good recipe/preparation for Quinoa? I just bought a box, and don't really like it plain. Thanks a bunch!
  11. All wine is gluten free. Just watch out for wine coolers which may contain malt. https://www.celiac.com/st_prod.html?p_prodid=271
  12. What analyzers do you work on?? I work in the Chemistry department in the lab, and we just got rid of our (beloved) LX-20s and boy do I miss them!!
  13. I am a Clinical Laboratory Scientist. I am the person who runs all the lab tests everyone talks about on this site
  14. Hi Angie, I don't know of any restaurants right in Stillwater, but here is the Twin Cities Celiac support group's listing of restaurants in the area. Hope it helps - have a good trip! Open Original Shared Link I recommend Chianti Grill - fabulous gluten-free pasta!
  15. Ditto what jerseyangel said. Proactiv is the only thing that works for me. Just watch your towels and pillowcases - it really bleaches things!
  16. I have not been to the bakery, but I buy their products often at Fresh and Natural Foods - super yummy. I don't know what is with the cold spell - but I hate it!! I thought it was spring
  17. haha - I just discovered the madwoman pizza crusts last week - OMG those are fabulous! It is hard not to binge on those I didn't even know there was a whole Bittersweet Bakery in Eagan - I have just always found their products at FNF. I will have to check out the bakery next time I am in that area!
  18. You could possibly get a false negative. Here's a link from this website: https://www.celiac.com/st_prod.html?p_prodi...-47107582455.80 This says the blood tests should go negative in 3-6 months, but I have heard of them going negative sooner. And it is still possible for you to have Celiac even if your blood tests come back negative!
  19. LOL - probably! I'm usually in there 2 or 3 times a week
  20. Hi Sparkles, I agree! I have done all of my specialty shopping at Fresh and Natural Foods in Shoreview since I went gluten-free. I have not found any other store that even comes close to having as many products as they do. Oh, and their Bittersweet Bakery monster cookies and carrot cake are fabulous!
  21. Thanks Cheri. I was hoping they'd be more well staffed/stocked so I wouldn't have to call and reserve anymore - darn. Oh well, that "works" bread is so good, it's worth it! Wow, I hadn't heard about a new Fresh and Natural in Bloomington. I love that place - I do all my gluten-free shopping at the one in Shoreview.
  22. Hi Nikki, I work in a lab. Left shift just means that there are some "band" neutrophils (a type of white blood cell) present. They are more immature than normal neutrophils, and are usually appear during infection/inflammation. Here is a longer explanation from a website: An increased need for neutrophils, as with an acute bacterial infection, will...
  23. I LOVE Bakery on Main granola! I also can't get my husband to stop eating it (it is pretty pricey). I used to eat a lot of Bear Naked granola before my diagnosis - this is a good substitute.

    ARCHIVED Horray!

Hey Guys, I just had my tTg rechecked - been gluten-free for 5 months now. IT'S BACK TO NORMAL! Hooray! I did a little happy dance at work today when I found out - haha. And I just wanted to say thanks to all of you for your help! I don't think I could've made it through my first few months without the wonderful advice and information from...
