Been off line for a while, sorry. I order my bagels from Kinnikinnick. They are an on line store that has great baked goods. Some stores carry them, they would be in the frozen section. I think Whole Foods has them sometimes. The chicken tenders are gluten free, just regular ones from Tyson. Tyson doesn't add anything to them. And the Teriyaki...

PG Tips is not a flavored tea. It is black tea in a pyramid shaped tea bag made in England. The bottom of my box has the Unilever symbol. Unilever is a company that will list any gluten. I drink it all the time.

ARCHIVED Numbers Still Elevated?
maryjk replied to crittermom's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I can only tell you what my numbers did. Before gluten free my level was 124. Seven months later it was 5. Could she be eating gluten that you don't know about? I am not talking about having the kitchen gluten free or new everything. I didn't do that. And I still eat out every week. But is she in school? Could she be eating something there... -
ARCHIVED Stubborn Father Of Celiac Daughter
maryjk replied to DianaH's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I hate to be the wet blanket here, but have you thought about maybe he doesn't want to be tested because he wouldn't change his diet anyway? Think about how much trouble we all went through the first month or two. I completely cleaned my kitchen. Scrubbed everything down, sectioned off gluten and gluten free, and gave away loads of food. At 72, would... -
I have not been a member of Weight Watcher's, but most of my family has. I never had a weight problem until I started eating gluten free. I am using their information and have been counting points for almost five weeks. And I have lost 11.4lbs. My parents are doing it to, and the race is on to see who can lose the most by Christmas. I would like...

ARCHIVED Am I To Have A Total gluten-free Household?
maryjk replied to hafadai43's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
It really depends. My husband and son are not gluten free and we do not have a gluten free household. They eat gluten stuff most days. Today we had chili dogs for lunch. Their's on a bun, mine on corn tortillas. I have my own toaster, cutting board and red handled utensils. I use the same can opener, but we have one that doesn't cut into the... -
If they look at you like that, you could have said, " I am sorry, but I have Celiac and even the smallest piece of bread will make me sick." I also would have cut the meal a bit before sending it back. That way you know that you have a fresh meal. I also, other than one place I eat where everyone knows me, always ask to speak to the manager. It alerts...

ARCHIVED Follow Up Blood Test Results Back
maryjk replied to maryjk's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
When people ask how I feel, I tell them that I feel 10 years younger. My only concern about my blood levels were that although I follow the diet, our house is not gluten free. We also eat out twice a week. It is always the same 4 restaurants, but I do eat out. I did not get new pans or a new cutting board, but I did wash the old ones throughly. I do... -
ARCHIVED Follow Up Blood Test Results Back
maryjk posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
So, I went gluten free Dec 6 of last year. At that time my tTG was 124. They also did a biopsy that showed total villus atrophy. Now, seven months later, they did a follow up blood test. My tTG is now 5! According to the report, 0-3 is negative, 4-10 is weak positive and over 10 is positive. I know that I am aiming for less... -

ARCHIVED Campbell's Products
maryjk replied to Yellow Rose's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
It isn't very long, and chili isn't on it. Their web site talks about allergens, but many companies don't consider gluten an allergen. Their list says, "We will make every effort to keep this list up to date, but some products made without gluten may not be included." -
Years ago, before I had Celiac, I was called for Jury Duty. It lasted just over a week AND we were sequestered. We stayed in a hotel next door to the court house. About the second day in, I got a UTI. I to had to call my doctor, while a police officer listened in, have antibiotics called into a pharmacy near the court house and have a police officer...

ARCHIVED Gluten Free Pantry : French Bread And Pizza Mix
maryjk posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Has anyone tried to make the mix into a French Loaf? You know like the one that they got the slice from for the picture on the box. The instructions on the back give information about a 9by5 loaf pan, a bread machine and pizza. I am trying to get a long slender loaf. Like the ones we used to buy from the bakery for dinner. -
ARCHIVED Vet Techs Help If You Can
maryjk replied to ravenwoodglass's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
They could be avoiding him because an infection smells. I have had an infected tooth. I had a bad taste in my mouth until I got it fixed. It was horrible. So I can just imagine what the other cats think. -
ARCHIVED Vet Techs Help If You Can
maryjk replied to ravenwoodglass's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
According to my sister, a vet tech: She has seen this before and nothing bad happened. Some places wouldn't even tell you. She told me not to quote her, but she claimed his chances are, from the mess up, is almost 100%. (But don't quote her) She did say that anything can happen since the cat already sick. Bad teeth are the downfall of a... -
ARCHIVED Sloppy Joe Recipe? Free Of Gluten And Corn.
maryjk replied to ArtGirl's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Sorry my recipe uses Tomato Puree. And that has citric acid in it. And I don't measure a lot of stuff I cook. I would have to make it again to see how much garlic powder and onion powder I put in it. If you want the recipe, let me know and I will make it this weekend. The guys will be thrilled. -
ARCHIVED Ovulation And Coeliac Symptoms?
maryjk replied to Boffin's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
My period symptoms got worse and have stayed worse. My GI symptoms have gotten so better that I forget what it was like before. That took a month to notice and a couple months to feel great. My tired symptoms took a while to go away. But my iron levels were so low that I was taking 3 iron tablets a day. And my B-12 was low enough for shots that... -
ARCHIVED Ovulation And Coeliac Symptoms?
maryjk replied to Boffin's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I have the big D during my period and left side pain when I ovulate. I have only one ovary, so I only ovulate on one side. I haven't noticed the big D when I ovulate. I did notice that the symptoms got worse when I went gluten free. -
ARCHIVED Tyson Frozen Chicken With "broth"
maryjk replied to a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I eat Tyson chicken all the time, too. I normally buy the chicken tenders, but have also bought the breasts. I have called them in the past and they were fine. The broth has nothing in it that Celiacs can't have. Now if you have other food intolerances, it may be a problem. But if it is just Celiac, the chicken is fine. -
Or have them mix it in a cake circle. That way they don't have to clean the marble. Open Original Shared Link

ARCHIVED Tyson Frozen Chicken With "broth"
maryjk replied to a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
What type of fries? Most Ore-Ida fries are fine, but there are a couple out there that we can't have. Waffle cut are the only ones coming to mind right now. They are not on the gluten free list. -
ARCHIVED Couple Of Food Questions...
maryjk replied to amberleigh's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
If you are in the US, pretty much all wine coolers are out of the question. They are all malt drinks. I loved wine coolers. I am now drinking hard cider with my gluten free pizza. Woodchuck has an extensive line and I can find them almost anywhere. Open Original Shared Link I use strawberry flavored cream cheese almost everyday. As it has been... -

ARCHIVED Anyone Else See Sicko?
maryjk replied to floridanative's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
It can go both ways. There are many doctors that will not deal with an HMO because of their nonsense. They are great doctors but refuse to accept the amount that an HMO will pay or have to jump through their hoops. I know this because I had a doctor that I had to leave because he was not part of an employers new HMO. The next year when they went...
