  1. My daughter has several of the 10 oz. ones. They are a bit small (she's 10 and has a big appetite), but they only get 15 minutes to eat so by adding some fruit and veg and maybe some chips to round it out, it is enough food.
  2. The plain tomato sauce is safe. Not sure about the spaghetti sauce. I know it has something in it we are allergic to. Or maybe it's just too high in carbs for us. As for a list... I wouldn't think that would be a safe thing to do. Manufacturers change ingredients all the time. Better to read each label each time than to rely on a list.
  3. It has soy in it. And I'd be willing to bet has the sulfites or whatever other sulf things she can't have. But I am really unfamiliar with what that entails.
  4. How was the texture of that? I tried something similar that had arrowroot powder to thicken it. It was very runny and chalky.
  5. We have additional food allergies so our diet is more limited. I can get a lot of stuff here locally, but I do mail order some things. Orgran canned spaghetti is nicely soft. May need to be cut up more for a toddler, but kids love it. Tastes like Spaghettios. Daughter loves Ian's fish sticks, chicken nuggets and Super Tots. She likes applesauce and...
  6. I presume you are testing your blood sugar? If not, you should be. High blood sugar will make you tired and make you pee a lot. A lot of the gluten-free foods such as breads and grains may have too many carbs for a diabetic. I am also type 2. If I eat beans, that is my main source of carbs at the meal. I might also add some nuts or seeds. I will eat...
  7. You might consider a RAST test. This will tell you what all you are allergic to.
  8. Niacin is a natural way to lower cholesterol, but it can cause flushing. There is also red rice yeast, but it's expensive. I take Simvistatin. Don't know if it is gluten-free or not since gluten is not an issue for me.
  9. It's not hot here. We are having the coldest June on record. One thing I used to make when the weather was hot was sort of a fruit sundae. Start with half of a hollowed out cantaloupe. Fill it with a couple of scoops of cottage cheese, sorbet, ice cream, Coconut Bliss, or whatever else you can eat. I guess you could use yogurt too. Then top it with...
  10. I know what you mean. I spent my whole life sick to my stomach and just thought this was normal for everyone. Then at age 46 I was diagnosed with food allergies. Not long after that, I was diagnosed with acid reflux and gastroparesis. Now I am rarely sick to my stomach. And no more sinus and ear infections. I used to keep a box of Kleenex in every room...
  11. Daughter and I are both O+. So is my mom. We all have food allergies, but daughter is the only one allergic to wheat and gluten. My mom has arthritis though and finds that wheat and nightshades make her arthritis worse.
  12. My mom used to kill pork chops. I remember her doing them in Shake and Bake but I'm not sure what she did to them before that. They were always dry and tough. I remember looking for a recipe for them when I was cooking for my MIL. I needed something that was quick to fix. Found an old recipe that said to season with salt and pepper and fry for 20 minutes...
  13. My daughter likes the Ener-G Rice Starch, Tapioca and Seattle Brown.
  14. I can get good cake here that is free of all of our allergens. Doesn't matter to me since I don't like cake to begin with and don't eat it. But I can get cupcakes at the grocery store for my daughter. If I want a whole cake, I have to go to the U District. That's a bit far for me, so I just get her a cupcake. I have tried making cakes and it's too much...
  15. I don't think I could have eaten it. If there's anything I hate worse than fish, it's oranges. My parents went through a Weight Watcher's phase back in the 70's and we had more fish than I care to remember. The only fish I can manage to stomach is fish sticks, and only if served with mashed potatoes (too many carbs for me so I don't ever do this) or tuna...
  16. I got a Bosch mixer. I read somewhere they are the best for gluten-free breads.
  17. It can be done. Might be expensive though and you may have to mail order some things. I buy Ener-G bread for my daughter. With this she can have sandwiches and cinnamon toast. There are Ian's French Toast sticks. Must heat in the oven, so kind of look cooking. Heh! We also buy Ian's fish sticks, chicken nuggets and Super Tots. There are other frozen...
  18. My cat gets gluten free food now. Last year when all the tainted food was around, I made the switch. Took a while to find some that she liked, but she is doing much better on it.
  19. Best thing to do is check the box. They are always changing the formula.
  20. Best thing to do is check the box. They are always changing the formula.
  21. I wouldn't watch that movie if you paid me. McDonalds has lied too many times about what is in their food. First it was saying that the fries were vegetarian and not disclosing the beef. Then to saying the fries were gluten-free and now this. I won't eat there. But then... We have not only a wheat and gluten allergy, but dairy too. Just not worth the...
  22. I was browsing and I noticed Seventh Generation baby diapers. I wasn't aware that they made them. I know their pads are made of wheat. I wonder if the diapers are too?
  23. I haven't tried it, but maybe Vance's Dari Free and coconut oil subbed for the milk and margarine?
  24. I don't eat hotdogs but I do buy them on occasion for my husband and daughter. Husband can and will eat anything. I am more careful with what I buy for daughter. I only buy uncured ones. Usually the all beef. I made them for my parents as well and everyone said they were very good.
  25. I'd like to know too. Would like to go there this summer. You might have better luck posting this in the travel or international sections.
