  1. I know of three kinds of licorice that is gluten-free. Running Rabbit, Candy Tree and Orgran. Of the three, the Running Rabbit can seem a bit strange if you get any of the "red" flavors. Unlike something like Twizzlers or Red Vines, it is not just a fruit flavor. It is fruit plus licorice.
  2. Enchilada sauce often contains wheat flour as a thickener. Unfortunately at a Mexican restaurant they don't always understand what you are saying when you ask them about the foods. I've found that fajitas are usually a safer choice, but oddly sometimes they marinate the meat in soy sauce.
  3. Walmart has them for $2.50 a box.
  4. I bought some but don't know what to do with it. There are no real instructions on the package.
  5. Just curious but what is gluten-free at Claim Jumpers?
  6. I would not because even a trace can make me sick.
  7. It's the same. May or may not bother your husband. I've found my daughter doesn't seem to react badly to soy lecithin. But soy protein, forget it! Enjoy Life chocolate chips are free of all allergens, including soy. In my area they are available at several grocery stores, or you can order them online. This place sells soy free chocolate, but you...
  8. I love quinoa but I prepare it like pilaf. I get the kind that doesn't need to be rinsed. I cook it in chicken broth and add plenty of onion, carrot, celery, maybe some peppers and peas. Whatever I have in the house.
  9. If you are lactose intolerant, you should not have the Campbell's chicken and rice soup. It contains milk! Weird, I know. But it does. Not sure about the other soup you ate. I don't have a problem with gluten myself, but I have other food allergies. There are only a couple of their soups I can eat. Daughter can't have gluten among other things and...
  10. When I used a mix, I used Namaste. Never had any problems with it and it tasted good. These days I just use the rice shells from Ener-G. I seem to have to make a lot of pizza for my daughter. They are always having pizza parties at school. I like the small rice shells because I can quickly do an individual pizza for her and either send it in cold or...
  11. Daughter and I sometimes eat Goraw Pumpkin seed bars. They're quick to eat and filling.
  12. You can get Road's End Organic's products that are cheese substitutes. They have pasta and Chreese, Nacho Chreese sauce and from their website you can get Chreese powder. Namaste makes a really good product called Say Cheeze. It's a fauz mac and cheese. We get vegan Rice cheese. Be sure to get the vegan kind because the kind that is not can have casein...
  13. I would pack plenty of food, including snacks and tell her that he can't eat anything other than what you sent. Hopefully it will get better once he is older and he can tell for himself what he can and can't eat. For my daughter I get shelf stable meals like Orgran canned pasta, My Own Meals, Shelton's Chicken and Wild Rice soup. She also has single serve...
  14. My daughter is allergic to soy and dairy, among other things. All formula gave her problems. Alas we didn't find out about the allergies until she was 6. She used to get sick all the time and the only thing she wanted to eat was yogurt. I would give it to her, thinking it was making her feel better. Apparently not. Sometimes I would give her the canned...
  15. I found it here at Fred Meyer but it is not at some of the other stores in the area. One store seems to have some really old stock. I bought a box of my cereal and noticed a Spiderman prize inside. I bought that box because I know a little boy who collects Spiderman stuff. Got it home and when I was going to open it, noticed that it had already expired...
  16. That's my favorite too.
  17. You can get a RAST test for food allergies. They will test you on all the things you commonly eat. But I don't think the Dr. you are going to can do that. I could be wrong though. Mine was done through a Naturopath, but allergists can do it too.
  18. I just wrote to them. My daughter was so excited when she saw the "Gluten Free" on the package that she jumped up and down.
  19. I don't know but... With all the flour floating around in there I wouldn't dare.
  20. But doesn't that have real cheese in it? I can't seem to find the ingredients. ETA: I looked further and yes, it has cheddar cheese powder. So it's not dairy free.
  21. I love the Namaste. Don't like the Chreese stuff at all, but my daughter likes it so that's all that matters. When I make the Chreese, I often add cubes of ham for extra protein.
  22. Lactose intolerance and dairy allergy are two different things. For years I was told I had lactose intolerance. I knew milk made me very sick and so did ice cream, but I thought cheese did not. Wrong! Turns out it was responsible for all the ear, nose and throat infections I had over the years. I thought I could never do without dairy. But once I...
  23. Oats could be contaminated with gluten unless they say gluten free. There is no gluten in and of itself in an oat. But the problem is the way they are grown, stored and transported. CC is very likely. There are a few farmers who have dedicated themselves to growing oats and only oats. They make sure they do not come in contact with wheat or other gluten...
