  1. I had to use the microwave for a tuna casserole a couple of weeks ago. I had assembled it the night before and put it in the fridge so I could make a quick meal before daughter's dance class. But I didn't get it put in the oven quickly enough. Daughter was starving so I checked it. Stuck my finger in the top and it was very hot. I served it. Turns out...
  2. I once did the oil thing too. Put a small amount of olive oil in a pan and set it to heat so I could put it in my hair. Went into the bedroom for a nightgown. Came back and saw flames shooting from the pan. Luckily there was a lid nearby. I just put it on the pan and removed it from the heat. But what a scare!
  3. Check with the hospital and see if they have a kitchen you can use. The one I had my baby at had a kitchen with a large fridge and freezer that I was allowed to put things in. They also had a microwave. I did have to walk to it and that was a pain because my legs were like jelly after giving birth, but at least it was there. Alas there was no such thing...
  4. I agree. I have made my own powdered sugar like this when I was out of it. Only thing is, it doesn't keep very well because it can lump up. So you have to use it fairly soon after making it.
  5. When I was in high school, we had a foreign language lounge that was used only by my friends and I, even though I wasn't taking a foreign language. There was a table and chairs, some couches and best of all, a complete kitchen! We'd take turns bringing lunch for everybody. When it was my turn, I decided to make macaroni, beef and tomatoes. My mom had...
  6. Not cheap. I can't remember exactly. I bought them here. I think they were $6.19 per package and there wasn't a lot in the package. It was gone in three days.
  7. I got some of these for my daughter and they are the bomb! I had to double and triple check the ingredients because they were just too good. I was afraid there was something she was allergic to, but no. We also got the breadsticks. I didn't try those because I don't generally like breadsticks. Daughter said they were good too. But these crackers......
  8. Chreese is gluten free. You can also get gluten-free pasta from them in the package. Or you can get bulk Chreese powder from them which is what I do. I also get the jars of Nacho Chreese sauce. Open Original Shared Link
  9. TruHealth is in Bothell. Open Original Shared Link Central Market has several locations but I use the one in Mill Creek. Open Original Shared Link
  10. I stopped in there today and was pleased to see that they had a couple of gluten-free food sections. For the shelf stable foods, the selection was rather small but they did have a few things that I can't get at Central Market, Manna Mills or TruHealth. They also have two freezers with mostly gluten-free things. They had several Glutino frozen meals...
  11. Here in Bothell we have Outback Steakhouse and Bonefish Grill, both of which have gluten-free menus. I've not tried either one because I have additional food allergies and that would mean a very limited amount of choices for me. Plus I don't like fish! I believe there is an Outback in North Seattle. In Lynwood there is The Old Spaghetti Factory. We...
  12. Unfortunately if you have food allergies, new ones can crop up any any time. This is why it's important to eat as varied a diet as possible. Not always possible to do that, I know. I have assorted medical problems which means some foods are off limits to me and I tend to eat the same things day after day. Luckily for me, gluten isn't a problem. It is...
  13. Wow! How and why would there be milk in the chicken? Mind boggling.
  14. I didn't know they still had tacos. They quit serving them years ago in NY, and they don't have them here. But as you said, it must be a regional thing. Perhaps you'll have to call them.
  15. I have been unhappy with all of the mayo replacers I've tried so far. I used to make tuna salad with Annie's French dressing and chopped cucumber. Daughter liked it but I stopped using that dressing when they disclosed something that didn't sound good. I can't remember now. Perhaps something like shared with equipment that processes something she...
  16. Vegan Rice cheese. Be sure to get the Vegan. The others have casein. Open Original Shared Link
  17. I could be wrong but I thought Tostitos had soybean oil in them.
  18. If you have an Old Spaghetti Factory, some of the locations have a gluten-free menu. They do not put cheese on their pasta so no worry about casein and no soy in there. What we order that is almost always safe is a hamburger patty or chopped sirloin accompanied by a plain baked potato. Sometimes there will be other potato options like hashed browns,...
  19. I usually cook the pasta for a minute or two less than it calls for. I never rinse it in cold water unless I am making a pasta salad.
  20. I like the Goraw pumpkin seed bars. Daughter eats the bars from Enjoy Life. She also likes these: Open Original Shared Link
  21. gluten-free pasta at The Old Spaghetti Factory. Hamburger patty and plain baked potato.
  22. Yep. Daughter got really sick from the stuff.
  23. I know what you mean. I keep a lot of Goraw pumpkin seed bars for use as meal replacements. When I dine out, I tend to have a hamburger patty or ground sirloin because I find a lot of times the chicken has added ingredients in it. Sometimes I have a salad. Those are always risky for me because I have gastroparesis and can't always digest them. I...
  24. Heh! Sounds like you've met him!
