  1. Namaste pizza dough makes wonderful breadsticks. Simply form it into a rectangle and then cut it in strips after it has baked. I've also made a foccacia bread that could be made the same way. Can't remember which cookbook it was in. Maybe Carol Fenster? I quit making it when I discovered the Namaste mixes.
  2. I don't think many restaurants would add flour to their omelettes. IHOP does add pancake batter though.
  3. Yes, the Enjoy Life cookies are really good!
  4. "Palm Olein Palm olein is the liquid fraction obtained by fractionation of palm oil after crystallization at controlled temperatures. The physical characteristics of palm olein differ from those of palm oil. It is fully liquid in warm climate and has a narrow range of glycerides. In addition to finding uses as in the case of palm oil, palm olein is...
  5. Fresh fruit makes me really sick to my stomach. I can't eat it. Why are you on an elimination diet? Wouldn't it be easier to have an allergy test done?
  6. Next time you are at/near the mall, go to the Old Spaghetti Factory on 196th. They have a gluten free menu. You'll have to tell them "no bread", otherwise they will bring it. You might also try A.P. Barbara's, also on 196th. They do not have a gluten free menu but have been good to work with us on our food issues. Daughter usually gets a steak with no...
  7. Our cat went gluten free when there was that tainted pet food scare. It took us a while to find food that she really liked, but we finally did and she has lost some weight. She had been overweight. I think she is much healthier now.
  8. To me, chicken is always suspect. Too many times I've seen frozen chicken used and it often contains wheat, soy or even milk. I only get chicken at places that cook it from scratch. For me a hamburger patty is usually safer. Yes there are some frozen patties that have soy in them (an allergen for my daughter) but there seems less chance of that than something...
  9. I love chia seeds. They are gluten free.
  10. I just tried this one. Yum! Open Original Shared Link I subbed in coconut oil and a few drops of artificial butter extract for the margarine and I used an extra cup of chocolate chips, making the whole thing chocolate rather than layered with the sunbutter. Tastes almost as good as what my mom makes.
  11. I second the Vance's. I've heard there is some form of powdered rice milk as well, but I'm not sure what the brand is.
  12. In the US, bread, crumbs or other forms of gluten is not generally added to ground beef patties. Some of them do contain soy or soybean oil though so if you're allergic to soy that would be a concern. If it's just plain ground beef there is no gluten in it. As far as walking through a bakery, that certainly could cause a problem with particles of gluten...
  13. I use sweet rice flour to make gravy. Have to use olive oil if we need additional fat because of a dairy allergy. If you can have soy, you might try Road's End Organics golden gravy. It's good, but daughter can't have soy.
  14. The school thought my daughter had ADD. I didn't think so. After learning of her food allergies, her behavior is totally different. And her grades have improved.
  15. I am lucky in that my daughter will eat fruits and vegetables. She likes Snapea Crisps, dried peas, and fruit chips/rollups, etc. I often send in leftovers in a small thermos or a taller one for soup. She uses a soft sided, stretchy bag from Built NY. The kind she has will hold a plate on one side and a bottle on the other. If I have no leftovers,...
  16. I find that zucchini bread works well. Tastes like the real stuff. Foccacia also works nicely.
  17. I just give away or throw away. Gluten is not so much of a problem here since we don't usually get that as a gift. I do tend to get a lot of cheese and fruit baskets. I am allergic to cheese and I don't eat fruit because I'm diabetic. We also seem to get a lot of smoked salmon. Not sure why since it is a common food here in the Pacific Northwest. Husband...
  18. Vegan rice cheese?
  19. I'm going to try making one this year. I don't have an actual recipe. I can't do dairy or eggs. So I am doing a cake recipe I've tried before that calls for an apple and a pear. I am going to sub in some candied fruit. No nuts. Daughter doesn't like nuts.
  20. It is presumed that I have it. The test done at my hospital uses eggs and I have a severe allergy. So given my symptoms and the lack of motility on my endospcopy, the gatroenterologist said he is going to assume that I do have it. Mainly I have to watch what I eat. I can have breakfast and dinner, but no lunch. If dinner will be a long ways off, I...
  21. How cute!!!
  22. I had no choice but to elope and there were no guests. At the time, I was living in WA and my now husband was living in CA. We'd already planned the wedding. We were going to have a simple ceremony with just my family and a few friends. My family lives here. Then some sort of dinner or reception of some kind in PA where his family is. As it turned out...
  23. To me, milk is milk. Doesn't matter what animal it comes from. It still makes me sick.
  24. Eek! I hadn't thought of that until you mentioned it. I have seen pre-made but raw meatloaf and breaded meats or meats filled with stuffing.
