  1. Husband is the only one who eats shrimp. Daughter and I don't like fish. But thanks!
  2. My parents usually come over here for Christmas day lunch. We all have food issues except for my husband. Daughter is the one who can't have gluten. She also can't have wheat, soy, peanuts, bananas, eggs or dairy. My mom and I are also allergic to dairy and eggs. I am allergic to almonds. Mom is allergic to chicken and I think a couple of things she...
  3. I think it depends on the brand and flavor you get. All of the ones I've bought were a really fine grind of salt, but most had added ingredients. I don't know of any gluten, but they do have dairy.
  4. Strange. When I try to go there, I get to here: Open Original Shared Link
  5. I don't think they are common in other parts of the country. I've never seen them served here in WA, and when I made them on Cape Cod, nobody had heard of them.
  6. My daughter is allergic to soy. Soy protein or soy flour send her to the bathroom, doubled over in pain. She does not seem to react to soy lecithin, and although I generally do not allow her to have soybean oil, she does get it occasionally in restaurants and doesn't seem to react to it.
  7. Does anyone have a recipe for these that doesn't include egg or dairy? I was given such a recipe at a food allergy forum. Alas, I failed to save the recipe and now the site is down. Daughter loved both, but we can't have dairy or eggs. I could do the pierogies stuffed with potato and rice cheese and the ravioli with plain meat. Thanks!
  8. I wonder if this would work with egg replacer and rice milk?
  9. If I'm reading that right, it has oatmeal in it. So wouldn't be gluten-free.
  10. If you have a Safeway in your area, they have their own brand like Cocoa Puffs. Comes in a bag. I think it's called Cocoa Astro Stars or something like that.
  11. Get a can of Vance's Dari Free. Daughter loves it! They make chocolate. Open Original Shared Link You may have to order it online. I also use the plain. It subs well for recipes calling for powered milk, or you can mix it up for a drink.
  12. If the source is wheat, they would have to disclose it. I no longer eat dairy, but when I did, I always bought the kind without modified food starch. Alpenrose is one such brand. So is Friendship. Not sure what is available where you live. Usually when I find one, I find it is only available at certain stores. I just like the taste and mouthfeel of...
  13. Ener-G sells 2 slice packs of bread. Expensive, but they keep for a long time. You could get some of those and a small jar of nut butter or portion packs and also some jelly. You can get some gluten free portion packs here: Open Original Shared Link For my daughter I buy almond butter, jelly, Trix, chips, and salami. I send them often in her lunch...
  14. I thought mine were I had one that came something like 22 days after the other one had started. Sometimes they come late, but generally early these days and I never know how long they will last. Had one that was 3 days and heavy for all three. Most of the time they are 5-7 but some are longer. I figure I have about 2 weeks in there where I can wear pants...
  15. I have seen sliced turkey that contains wheat. I've also seen some that says gluten free.
  16. Thanks! That's good to know!
  17. I have three. The two larger ones get a lot of use. The smaller one I use generally only for making espinaca con queso or other hot dips. It's really pretty small. I would like an even bigger one than I have now. My two bigger ones are something like 2 1/2 and 3 qts. I can do a 3 pound pot roast in one but it doesn't leave me enough room to do the carrots...
  18. I quit making making stuffing. Two years ago, I made gluten free stuffing. Everyone thought it tasted fine except for my daughter. And she's the gluten free one. Gah! What I used to do with the Stovetop kind was add a lot of celery, onion and sometimes carrot that had been cooked until soft. I also added some extra sage. I never cooked a whole...
  19. I always cook it less than it says. If it says 15, I set the timer for 13 and then check it. At this point I may have to cook it another minute, but usually not. I tell by plucking out a piece, running it under cold water and tasting it. I never run my pasta under cold water unless I am making pasta salad. I just drain it really well. I have a Rachel...
  20. I have this one from Bosch. I love it! Open Original Shared Link
  21. Not safe unless made from gluten free oats.
  22. Don't use it. My daughter was made sick by that stuff. As far as I know, the Rice Dream is the only rice milk that has gluten in it.
  23. You could eat eggs or cottage cheese and fruit for breakfast. You could eat cottage cheese or yogurt for lunch. Of course making sure it was gluten free first. You could have cheese and cold cuts for lunch. Or some gluten free soup. There are some canned soups and chilis that are gluten free. You can make rice pasta and spaghetti sauce. Lunch can be...
  24. The thing is, I DID check it and so did she. The warning just wasn't in the place where I expected it to be and the lettering was such that it blended right in with the rest of the wording. The same thing happened to me before they changed their formula. I gave her the stuff a couple of times before seeing the gluten statement. Back then, she was still...
