  1. Just curious, but... Who said you needed to eat liver? I thought the thinking these days was it wasn't very good for you. I've had anemia and have never eaten liver. Red meat works for me.
  2. Do you know what the ingredients are? Will do us no good if they have milk, eggs, soy or nuts in them.
  3. I bought these and wasn't too sure how I would like them since we seem to either love or hate the Enger-G products. These were actually VERY good. Reminded me of the flat bread pizza I used to get at Trader Joe's. They no longer seem to carry it. At least not at my local store. I am not the one with the gluten issue. Daughter is. I wanted to make...
  4. I made meatballs with it. We can't have eggs so I subbed in ground flax and water. I put them in a tomato sauce. Husband is Italian and he loved it.
  5. Yep. I am allergic to dairy, eggs and almonds. I don't know that I've had any almonds and I am so severely allergic to eggs that I will not eat a food that I have any doubt about. But three times now I have gotten restaurant food with dairy in it. Twice was a shred of cheese and more recently it was sour cream. I made sure not to eat any of the food...
  6. My daughter has a soy allergy. She doesn't seem to react to soybean oil or soy lecithin, but then her reactions aren't always immediate or pronounced so we generally try to avoid them. Once I acccidently gave her crackers containing soy. I wasn't able to read the list of ingredients in English. They had so many ingredient lists in foreign languages and...
  7. Daughter has had this and didn't get sick. But then she has an allergy to gluten and not celiac.
  8. I read about this in one of my allergy books that wheat is often used to keep the frozen veggies from sticking together. I hadn't noticed any that contain wheat, other than some potatoes. But then we don't buy much in the way of frozen veggies aside from the plain ones. And because we have additional allergies, I always check every label.
  9. Trix is gluten free.
  10. Goraw makes pumpkin seed bars. You can get small foil wrapped shelf stable cheeses. I could find them all over in NYC, but you may have to hunt them down if you live in another area.
  11. I won't eat them. I don't have a gluten issue. Daughter does. And we're both allergic to milk. There *is* milk in them.
  12. Hummus with raw veggies and gluten-free breadsticks. Fruit and cheese plate. Deviled eggs. Enjoy Life cookies.
  13. Chili can be done easily in the crockpot and can be as mild or spicy as you like. Start with some ground beef or cooked, diced chicken or steak. Add a can or three of kidney beans, or whatever other kind of beans you like. I sometimes do three different kinds of beans. Add a can of corn if you like, and a large jar of salsa. Heat through. Garnish with...
  14. Some years ago when I was pregnant and prior to all the extra security, I took a tuna sandwich onto the plane with me, fearing that I wouldn't get enough to eat or wouldn't like the food. I didn't know of my food allergies back in those days. When I had made the sandwich, I had forgotten how stinky tuna can be. I sure got a lot of dirty looks as I...
  15. Corn tortillas should be safe, but always check the ingredients. Tortilla chips may contain gluten. Especially some of the flavored ones. Or they may be cross contaminated with gluten. Always check the bag. Mustard may contain gluten. Again, check the label. I've seen some with wheat in it. Can't help you with the dressings or sardines since I...
  16. Yes. You inject, then get yourself to the hospital. Supposedly there is some sort of prescription for food allergies. I've forgotten the name. Let me see if I can look it up. Well, now I can't find it but I did find this information: Open Original Shared Link I do not personally think antihistimines help with food allergies though. They didn't...
  17. All raw meat is gluten free unless it has something added to it. Like a breaded coating, marinade, etc.
  18. Safeway has their own brand of cocoa cereal that is gluten-free. I can't remember the name of it, but it comes in a large bag.
  19. More and more comanies are doing this. I was told by a baker that they will use whatever kind of oil is cheapest when they need to buy oil. I have made my daughter sick a few times with this very same thing, so now I read every label, each and every time. First it was the cashews roasting in peanut oil or some other kind of oil. Can't remember. She...
  20. My daughter can not have her lunch heated at school. They do not have a cafeteria where they sit down and eat. They have a lunch cart that comes around with the meals. At least this year they have two meal options, one of which is a salad. She has other food allergies and would not be able to eat the salad dressing or perhaps some of the other things...
  21. Have you tried quinoa? My daugher loves if if I make it with some chopped chicken breast, chopped onions, carrots, celery, peas and chicken broth. You can also buy quinoa pasta. Just make sure that the kind you buy has only quinoa because some are blends. You can make a beef stew using beef broth as a base. If you like it thick, you can thicken it...
  22. From what I have read, if the child is under the age of 3, they might outgrow the allergies. If over that age, chances are they will not. I would agree with what the other poster said in that IBS is only a symptom. Is it possible that he is eating the allergens at school or elsewhere? That you might be inadvertently giving him something he is allergic...
  23. If I had it to do over, I wouldn't. Mine is in the garage now and never gets used. I tried using it almost every other day and rarely got anything edible from it. Then I gave up and decided just to buy bread. It's cheaper in the long run and far less frustrating. So far the only gluten-free bread I can get to come out well on a regular basis is zuchinni...
  24. I use them a lot, but they don't have any made up chocolates that are soy free.
  25. This place sells soy/dairy free chocolate! Haven't tried it yet. Just found the link. Am hoping they will get some nice stuff for Xmas. Open Original Shared Link
