    ARCHIVED Protien Bars

These are NOT gluten free. They contain wheat flour in them. They are also not casein free as you stated in your other post. I checked their website.
  2. That would be great, but I don't have a clue how you could do it. Daughter and I have multiple food allergies so it is rare for me to find a recipe I can use without making modifications.
  3. I looked them up at their website but it doesn't list any nutritional information. How do you know they are gluten-free? One of the flavors does say this, "Store in a cool, dry place. Read all ingredients to check for allergens. Simply Nutrilite Food Bars are produced in a facility that processes soy, dairy, eggs, and wheat ingredients as well as peanuts...
  4. I am sooo excited. This recipe was posted to the celiac newgroup by a woman named Betty. I just tried it to go with our soup and I am amazed! I wasn't sure what she meant by "soup bowl" so I used about a 1 Qt. Pyrex bowl. It worked, but I think next time I'll try the old shallow soup bowls I have. I added a small drizzle of olive oil to the mix. Next...
  5. I have not tried coconut milk in potatoes. Or hemp milk. Will have to look for that. When I do mashed potatoes, I usually use those little tubes of concentrated liquid bouillon. I leave a small amount of water in the pan, reserving some in case I need more. I think add 2-3 tubes of boullion, depending on how much I am making. I usually add some chives...
  6. Daughter is allergic to soy and peanuts but doesn't have a problem with other legumes.
  7. The pasta I have is Andean Naturals. My health food store buys it in bulk and repackages it.
  8. With chicken or turkey, I just make a gravy using some broth and sweet rice flour to thicken. For the tuna casserole, I start with a bunch of mushrooms. I use either fresh or dried or a combination of both. The dried ones need to be reconstituted in hot water first. I then put them in the food processor along with an onion and a couple of ribs of celery...
  9. They are dairy free and also now free of soybean oil. You might reconsider the popcorn since it is probably loaded with transfats. I like to give out little toys. The kids love them.
  10. All the time. And I'm not the one with gluten issues. My daughter is. But we both have additional food allergies. I frequently dream about eating something I am allergic to or finding my daughter or myself just about to eat it. Sometimes I even wake myself up, screaming, "No! There's wheat in that!!!"
  11. The bagels I made from scratch were oddly sweet. They were boiled in sugar water before baking. Not sure they'd make good chips. Have you tried the Enjoy Life bagels from the freezer? Daughter likes them. I should think they would work if you sliced them into thin chips then baked them until crisp.
  12. Last year my daughter went without lunch several times. She brought her lunch in, but it was hot food I'd put in a microwavable container. Turns out they couldn't get the container open. Twice, I was able to open it at home by myself. But the third time, nobody could open it. Not even with tools. I threw the whole container away with the food still...
  13. I will look at that again, but I think it has something she is allergic to in it. Just looked it up. Soymilk. She's allergic to soy.
  14. I got some of this from my health food store. They buy it in bulk and repackage it. The only shape they had was macaroni. I don't know if this particular brand comes in other shapes or not. They were going to check for me. At any rate it was yummy! Tasted more like regular pasta to me than the corn or rice pasta. I've been making tuna casserole...
  15. Thanks! Daughter can't eat a lot of their stuff because she is allergic to eggs and milk, but I will order some of the crackers and cookies when we need them. Don't need any at the moment. Not sure we could do the bread either since she is the only one here who eats bread. I don't like to have to order a whole loaf at a time.
  16. Looks good, but daughter is allergic to eggs and milk. Do you think they would still puff up if I had to use egg and milk subs? I have little baked donut pans but you use cake or muffin batter with those and they don't come out so well. Or I should say what you wind up with is a donut shaped cake or muffin but it still tastes like a cake or a muffin. ...
  17. Might you mean, "I Can Eat That?" The gluten free bakery where you bake at home? I have not tried them and it appears they are only in CA. If it's not that company, can you provide a link?
  18. I bought some rice protein powder. Haven't figured out yet how to use it though. I don't do smoothies. Daughter likes them though and I make her some with hemp protein powder in them. I also do chia seeds and sprouts for protein.
  19. Thanks! Daughter always drools and whines when the KFC commercials come on.
  20. I hadn't heard about heating of lunch meats, but then I don't personally eat them and was a vegetarian throughout my pregnancy so the subject never came up. The only issue I could see with beef jerky might be nitrates. Not sure all jerky even has that in it or that it would be a problem for you. Might want to consult a dietician on that. Also realize...
  21. I have one. Don't remember the brand. It's out in the garage after having not been used in about a year. I tried using it a lot at first, but few loaves came out right. Worse yet, I'd get a loaf that would come out right and then try that same recipe or mix again, only to have disaster. My main problems were loaves rising up then falling flat, or bread...
  22. That sounds kind of tough since it calls for sour cream. Can you get a soy based sour cream? If so and you can eat soy, maybe try that. I've never tried to recreate it since I don't like it at all. But when I do tuna casserole, I made sort of a cream soup base of fresh and/or dried and reconstituted mushrooms chopped fine in the food processor, along...
  23. Well... I know I am allergic to dairy, eggs and almonds. An allergy test confirmed it. I know I am NOT allergic to fresh pineapple or oranges, but I also know they give me blisters in my mouth if I eat them. So I don't eat them. I also know if I eat very much garlic I get nasty stomach pains. So I don't eat that. I don't think I'm suffering too much...
  24. Thanks! I will try that one.
  25. Does anyone have a recipe for or know of a mix that is not sickly sweet? Daughter also can not have soy, dairy or eggs. So far all of the ones I've tried have an odd, sweet taste to them, kind of like shortbread. Or they just won't hold together. I used one mix for drop biscuits and they just went to crumbs when I tried to get them off the cookie sheet...
