  1. I buy the Ener-G brand. I make a bit of vanilla icing to put on the top. Can't do cream cheese. We're allergic.
  2. I wouldn't use it. I do not have a problem with gluten, but I used a product with oatmeal in the bath. My daughter took a bath after me and that slight amount of gluten left in the tub gave her a rash.
  3. Wow! Doesn't sound like a place anyone should dine at. I worry about food coming from China after all that tainted stuff that made its way into this country.

    ARCHIVED My Rant

What makes you think gluten was not meant to be digested? If that were the case, people would not survived all this time on spelt, wheat and other grains. I truly believe for most people it is not a problem. As for the caffeine, I've been consuming tons of it for years. Works for me. So does gluten. I just can't have dairy, eggs, almonds or soy!
  5. It indicates that they may be cooked in the same oil as several allergens. Oddly, the chili no longer lists soy in it. Used to have soybean oil.

I don't think gluten is bad for most people. Just those who have celiac or a food allergy.
  7. It's possible the high fat content is making you ill. Next time you could try frying in a pan with a small amount of oil or roasting in the oven with some olive oil.
  8. I don't know if there's an average time frame. My daughter began to feel better immediately. I also began to notice a change in her behavior. Then at about 2 weeks, she got very sick. I think it was detox. I kept her home from school. She was a bear to be around and was very sleepy and not wanting to eat anything. Then the next day it was like I got...
  9. They shouldn't. Unless they are processed in a place that also processes nuts. But it should say that on the label if they do.
  10. My daughter drinks Rice Milk. Just not the Rice Dream. She has been glutened by it. We use Rice Cheese. Be sure to get the vegan kind. They do make some with casein in it. Not sure why. It works well on pizza, nachos and sandwiches. We also use Parma (a nut cheese) for topping pasta and nutritional yeast for a nutty flavor. I never thought...
  11. Thanks! My family isn't into anyting exotic. I doubt anyone would eat a tuna steak. I can't cook a whole turkey. Would have to do canned. Not sure how well quinoa would go over with some. Nobody would eat duck but my husband and I know duck, and ostrich wouldn't go over well. Pretty much all of those vegetables are things they wouldn't eat. We do...
  12. Thanks, but with the chicken allergy, that won't work. Do you think another kind of broth would work?
  13. Can you have agave? I've seen raw recipes that contain this. Here's one that contains honey. Open Original Shared Link Here's another one with a variety of possible sweeteners: Open Original Shared Link Not bars, but some good looking recipes: Open Original Shared Link Here are some other recipes: Open Original Shared Link I see...
  14. Could be a dairy allergy. My daughter had lots of ear and sinus infections before we learned of her dairy allergy. If I were you, I'd have an allergy test done and make sure they test for food allergies. I can't tell you how many Drs. we went to who did not test for food allergies.
  15. I just looked them up. They have a picture with obvious graham cracker crumbs on them. They also list them as having wheat but not gluten. Looks to me like an oversight.
  16. Bags of candy are most likely heat sealed. Can't say about the yogurt and other stuff.
  17. It can.
  18. I do always add veggies to my meatloaf. Usually carrots, celery, onions, spinach or whatever other greens I have in the house. The lack of eggs makes it rather hard to stick together and it seems I had to use quite a lot of tomato juice to it because the oatmeal (not that I used a lot of that) really soaked it up. I've been searching for recipes for...
  19. I wish someone would make an egg free donut so my daughter could eat them.
  20. Aw... Not fair for people who are just allergic to gluten.
  21. That's a good idea. We do tend to eat a lot of Mexican food since it is one thing we can all eat in some form or another.
  22. I can't eat parsnips. I have diabetes and they spike my blood sugar very badly. Not sure why. Dad has diabetes too. Tacos are a good idea. We often go out for Mexican food because it is one thing we can all eat. We eat nachos here at home as a meal about once a week. I use rice cheese and beans for protein. I just can't see my parents eating that...
  23. That doesn't sound at all good to me. I don't like spicy foods and I believe chili flakes would be a nightshade so I couldn't use that anyway. I can eat ground beef. Just no other form of beef. My mom can't eat chicken. I also have to be very careful with the veggies. I don't digest a lot of them so I doubt that a stir fry would work. I have to mainly...
  24. I didn't replace anything. I should add that my kitchen is not totally gluten-free. I can eat gluten but usually don't. Husband has no food issues. Did get a new toaster. Use disposable foil baking pans for most things. For pizza, I cover the pan with Release foil. I have a new pasta pot that has been used for nothing but gluten-free food. For snacks...
  25. Stir fries without soy sauce aren't very good. And the men are the only ones who will eat salmon. The only fish we will all eat is tuna. The kind from the pouch. Not the yellow fin or blue fin or whatever it is. I guess we're boring.
