  1. Gluten is not my issue but I do have GERD and an oat intolerance. Chocolate usually gives me severe GERD! The darker the chocolate the worse it is. And I love the dark chocolate. I have recently been making a vegan peanut butter fudge that has cocoa powder in it. It works for me so long as I don't eat it too close to bedtime. Oats make me very sick...
  2. If you are prone to food intolerances, then eating something too often can cause a problem. It won't always but it can. I do eat a lot of rice, popcorn and some non gluten-free things but gluten isn't *my* issue. These things have not caused a problem for me. What has caused a problem is dairy. I had eventually outgrown this intolerance but my Dr. warned...
  3. I have gastroparesis too. When mine flares up, I mainly just eat plain white rice with only salt and pepper. Maybe just a touch of olive oil to keep it from sticking to the pan. Maybe some unsweetened applesauce. I am now intolerant to chicken but that used to be an option. So was chicken broth. But if it is gastritis, it is important not to eat...
  4. Is she seeing an Endo.? If not, I would go that route. My daughter has Hashimotos and her Pediatrician did not have her on the right dose of thyroid med. She does not have food allergies but intolerances. Only rarely has fevers and usually accompanied by some kind of illness but she does get ill all the time. I had a thyroid problem and I had mood swings...
  5. Oh how I can relate to this! When I was 15 or 16 I wound up getting anorexia because I refused to eat or even drink anything with calories in it. I was super sick to my stomach from both ends. Simply could not keep anything in me and it hurt so badly to throw up. I vowed to do anything to stop that. No meds helped. Not that I could keep them in me....
  6. I have so many eye issues, that I'd be terrified to wear contacts. I had to even stop wearing all eye makeup. I had gone to wearing a tiny bit of eyeliner on occasion but I even had to give that up. I have bad dark circles under my eyes and can't use any sort of concealer. Nor can I even use any cosmetics in that area! And to top it all off, I had an...
  7. Sadly, I can not eat this any more. Or chicken salad either. Not only can I not have eggs, but I can not have any fish or chicken either. Yes, I could have turkey salad but I don't really like that so much. But I am going to make a big bowl of tuna salad for daughter to eat for the next couple of days. For her I will keep it simple. Green onions...
  8. I hadn't thought of it that way. My mom doesn't have to avoid gluten. But she does have to avoid wheat and nightshades because the flare up her athritis. I would say as long as there is a valid reason to avoid the food, it doesn't matter to me what that reason is, whether the person was diagnosed or not. Garlic really bothers me. I'm not intolerant...
  9. I am a diabetic and I do avoid some things for that reason. I also have gastroparesis and can't eat certain things like broccoli. If broccoli is on my plate, I'll either eat around it or if possible take a salad plate or whatever and pick it off onto that. Or if there is another diner there that wants it, I'll give it to them. A whole piece of broccoli...
  10. It is an attitude like this that just slays me. This coming from a person with multiple food intolerances. And my daughter has multiple food intolerances. Does the thing have to kill you to make it be bad? Lactose is not our problem. I can't speak to how much a lactose intolerance can affect a person. But I do know how our foods that we are intolernant...
  11. What age are you? I had symptoms that I thought were a yeast infection. Nope! It was low estrogen.
  12. Agree that it could be thyroid. Also could be diabetes.
  13. I have OAS and a lot of food intolerances but not as much as you. Used to love to bake but for the most part just gave that up. Eat a pretty limited diet now but at least it doesnt make me ill. Don't eat too many sweets. But I am a diabetic so I shouldn't.
  14. I'm intolerant to almonds, pistachios and macadamias. My symptoms are different than yours. We don't buy much at TJ's any more. Too much produced on shared lines.
  15. I have an extreme dislike for avocados so never eat them or anything with guacamole. Occasionally I will order Mexican food and tell them to leave it off and they forget. Even a trace amount sets my taste buds on edge. That's how much I hate it. But... Garlic gives me the symptoms you are having. And I don't know why. I am not allergic. I am not intolerant...
  16. I've never heard that before. Daughter has Hashimoto's. Gluten used to be an issue for her but is not now. She does not now and neger had celiac but an intolerance to it.
  17. Oh wow! Finally something my daughter can eat! Between her needing whole grains, picky eating and food intolerances there isn't much in the way of convenience foods for her. But it looks like she can eat the tuna bake. And tuna isn't something that she gets often because I can't eat it. But she loves it. And she loves peas. And they sell it at a store...
  18. I don't think they changed anything. I learned the hard way. Read every label, every time. I think some of the Swanson broth is safe and some is not.
  19. I would double check those things for soy. I've made Christina Pirello's chocolate fudge recipe and it's great. Mix together 1 cup nut or seed butter, 1/3 cup brown rice syrup, 1/4 cup cocoa, pinch salt, scant pinch black pepper, scant pinch chili powder, scant pinch cinnamon. Add 1/2 cup chopped walnuts. When I make this for myself I use peanut...
  20. I get them from a B deficiency. I take a B and C complex and within days of starting on it, they go away.
  21. If it's any comfort to you, I always look pregnant. And I don't have issues with gluten. In my case, I think, it's caused by gastroparesis. Slowed digestion. Which you can also have when you have celiac. I also have tons of food intolerances. As does my daughter. And I know what you mean. I have accidentally fed her something she shouldn't have. ...
  22. If you are buying plain meat at a store, it should be safe. Unless perhaps you are buying it from the butcher counter. If so, check there and see if they have any breaded meats, meatloaf mix, or anything else that might have gluten in it. If there is such stuff, it could have been cross contaminated. Do beware taco meat at some restaurants because they...
  23. For my daughter, eliminating caffeine helped. The caffeine was causing a problem of urinary irritation. Then she wouldn't drink because it burned when she peed. She was just short of dehydration and that caused constipation. She stopped the caffeine and drank more water. I have never allowed her more than one serving of juice per day and she didn't always...
  24. Keep in mind that the A1c is meaningless unless it is high. If high that clearly indicates diabetes. But you could have an average or even low one and still have diabetes. I have.
  25. I was watching Christina Pirello, formerly of Christina Cooks on her new cooking show. She was talking about GMO foods. She said that they found that when bugs ate GMO corn, their stomachs exploded. She said upon further investigation with humans, when they eat GMO foods, their stomachs do not explode but get minor spots of damage sort of like cracks or...
