  1. It's possible that it is run on shared lines with wheat. Cornmeal in and of itself is gluten free. But it certainly can be cross contaminated.
  2. Probably you need to find out the problem. If you liver is involved it could be something that needs treatment. Not eating at all will cause your stomach to pump out more acid and that might not be good. I do have different issues but when my stomach is acting up, I stick to plain white rice for a day or three.
  3. I hear you! You can't quit eating yourself because you need to keep up your strength to help raise her. And it doesn't help to have a corn allergy because corn is in everything. I would suggest that you look mainly to things that are naturally gluten free. Try to eat mainly beans and rice. Dried beans are cheap but they do require a couple of hours of...
  4. I wouldn't personally buy anything made on shared equipment. And no, I don't think rinsing it would take care of the problem. It might if it were something like a dried bean. But people here have reported problems with dried beans too. As for the product saying it is gluten-free, that's not likely to happen. If it is a food that is naturally gluten-free...
  5. Most restaurants use soybean oil. So good luck with that!
  6. Stuffed shells with some spinach in the cheese.
  7. Yes. I have seen several other similar tests online in other countries. Mostly Australia and New Zealand. Apparently that sort of testing is quite common there. I recently had a discussion with someone online from Canada who had such a test and swore that it was accurate. At the time I had not heard of such a test. I had heard of other hair testing...
  8. I will look for a butterfly net. They should be out in the stores soon. As for the spring, that could be it! My toaster doesn't seem to do that but I put wheat bread in it. Hers is a cheap one.
  9. That was the obvious solution but we have no toaster oven or a place to put one.
  10. My daughter and I did the rotation diet with some foods. It is tough. The worst part is that other people don't understand it. They would make fun of is. They would say things like, "Is this a dairy day?" They couldn't understand why we could eat dairy on some days and not others. And why we couldn't make exceptions for holidays. In the end, we both...
  11. You say you are eating a normal meal. What all is involved with that? If you are eating the same things in each meal, one of them could be the culprit. Gluten is not an issue for me. I do have food allergies and gastroparesis. When my stomach is acting up, I pretty much limit myself to rice and chicken broth. Maybe a bit of cooked chicken breast....
  12. We wound up getting into a HUGE fight over this. I had mentioned the hair test to her when I first found it and she refused to do it. So then I looked at the links posted here and showed her the IgG one for $219 (or was it $239?). It looked like the same test as we had before and I wrote to them. I did not need to get a Dr. involved. I offered her the...
  13. My daughter eats Ener-G bread. Yeah, she actually likes it. Which is good because she needs to eat a somewhat low carb diet. Currently she is eating the light tapioca. I think that is what it is called. The problem? The slices are so light, the toaster literally hurls them into the air and often we have to search around to find them. It's getting...
  14. I don't have celiac but I do have food allergies. I was not diagnosed until I was an adult. I was constantly sick to my stomach. My parents knew it but didn't know why. I just assumed everyone felt that way. I can remember getting angry when I'd see people smiling and laughing. I would think... How can they be acting that happy when their stomach hurts...
  15. I will look at your links but the sites I saw for IgG testing did require a Drs. note or something like that. And none of our Drs. or our current naturopath believe in that kind of allergies. That particular Dr. was my mom's and it is a very sore point with the family. We are not allowed to talk about it with her. We all felt he was just taking her money...
  16. That's true. I just wish I could get my daughter retested and not have to pay an arm and a leg for it. Even if she no longer has the pea allergy that would help a lot. Then I could buy regular tuna and not the expensive kind. Do you know they use peas in the broth for tuna? Gah!
  17. We do not have IgE allergies so our skin tests will always be negative. We have IgG allergies which some people call intolerances.
  18. My daughter and I both have IgG allergies. I am fine with mine but my daughter wants to be retested. She is hopeful to have outgrown wheat. She was tested twice and found to be allergic both times. But she did outgrow gluten. She thinks she has outgrown wheat because she has eaten things a few times that contained it and didn't get sick. One time was...
  19. I don't have a recipe. I did make them once. The recipe said to boil them in sugar water instead of malt. The end result was edible but nothing like a real bagel. Very time consuming and my daughter wasn't thrilled. I didn't keep the recipe. We just buy Udi's now.
  20. My daughter was always hungry when she was younger. I think that is just the nature of some kids. Popcorn and beans can be very filling if his stomach can handle them. So can potatoes.
  21. Sorry to say that you can't be gluten free and work around gluten. If you are working with flour it is in the air and it is getting on your skin and you are breathing it in.
  22. Well now today she seems fine. So we didn't go to the Dr. She ate a frozen meal. Chicken with BBQ sauce and rice pilaf. gluten-free and organic. So far so good. We're going to make a quick trip to the grocery store then have turkey breast and mashed potatoes for dinner. The Walk In Clinic is open on the weekend so if it comes back we will go. And...
  23. Okay. Thanks!
  24. My daughter is 13. She does not have celiac but does have a wheat allery and is also allergic to some other foods. Last week on Thu., she came down with the big D. I kept her home from school. There was no school on Fri. I had a Drs. appointment in another city so I took her with me. We were there for long enough that she missed dance class. She...
  25. My daughter has food allergies. For play dates I would send her with her own snack and drink. I would sometimes send enough for the other kids in the house when I knew that the family was struggling financinally. I would tell the parent that she could only eat and drink what I sent and could not come in contact with wheat, including Play Doh.
