  1. I went gluten-free for my daughter and didn't feel any better. Then I learned of my egg allergy! Felt TONS better after I stopped eating eggs. I kept our house pretty much gluten-free for several years. My husband does love his pizza and sandwiches. Daughter and I are not big pizza lovers so it didn't bother us to order him a pizza once in a while...
  2. I don't have to avoid those things myself but I did have to avoid dairy for some years. My favorite snack is popcorn popped in coconut oil with sea salt on it.
  3. We have used naturopaths. Allergists usually don't seem to believe in intolerances.
  4. You might find that your ADHD gets better or goes away once you have stuck to the diet for a few weeks. The school thought my daughter had it. Nope! Are you sure your Walmart doesn't have other cooked meats? Our does and it doesn't even have a full sized grocery. Look with the lunch meats like sliced bologa or turkey. Even some of those might work...
  5. I actually had a Dr. say this to me when I took my daughter in for allergy testing to see if she had outgrown some of the allergens. "But your husband is Italian! Italians eat pasta made with wheat! He won't like that at all!" This Dr. was from India if that makes a difference. Probably not but perhaps they have a different attitude towards food than...
  6. I agree with this! We have a similar bakery in this area that is also vegan. I think without offering additional food items so people can get a quick meal, they won't do enough business. This place also sells their things off and on at various other restaurants, and stores. I just wish they would be consistant! My daughter loves there stuff but we never...
  7. I would do a lot of naturally gluten free foods such as raw veggies, cut up fruits, hummus cups (cut large chunks of cucumbers, hollow out to form a cup and fill with hummus), chips and dips. You could also put out platters of cheese and meats. Maybe bowls of popcorn. Or you could do a taco bar. You might even be able to get this catered if you have...
  8. Were you tested for gastroparesis? I have it. It makes me feel full and it sometimes makes me throw up. The food that I throw up is mostly undigested. If you have that, you need to find a new gastroenterologist. Perhaps you need to stick to easy to digest foods for awhile? Things like white rice, chicken breast and applesauce. You might also do well...
  9. We eat the Annies with the powder but I add a little shredded cheddar for extra protein.
  10. The overusing part bugs me. I think if a person notices that gluten, or any other food makes them ill or in some way not feel well, it is warranted to leave it out of the diet.
  11. Oops! I just saw your reply. And I already posted the info. There is a TJ's in Lynnwood but I hate going there. I will go there maybe once a year. The Kirkland brand is safe as is the kind you can get in the grocery store in the gold can. I think it's Bumble Bee.
  12. I will post the link. Here is one: Open Original Shared Link I know that is a Canadian product. The person who pointed it out to me gave me a link for either Starkist or Bumblebee (can't remember which) and it had the same ingredients. I can't seem to find that link now. She told me several years ago on a food allergy site. ETA: Found it!...
  13. You can hide the veggies in the pasta sauce. Just cook first and use an immersion blender. But seeing as how my daughter is 13 now I thought I could get away with it. Apparently not.
  14. I have made that but my daughter doesn't like it.
  15. I guess it would depend on the symptoms. Eggs make me violently sick to my stomach. So I avoid them.
  16. Egg is the tough one for me. I've found it in soups, mashed potatoes, bread (not gluten-free but gluten isn't my issue), candies, all sorts of things where you wouldn't expect it. Yes, gluten lurks too. But there are many restaurants now that offer gluten-free menus. And it's easy to cook at home.
  17. I like the lasagna only because I add extra veggies to it. Which of course are the part my daughter won't eat! We both like the stuffed shells, so I will be making those from now on.
  18. Have they looked at possible gastroparesis? I have it. It can make blood sugar very hard to control. Mine started out with bowel troubles and then progressed to throwing up.
  19. Just so you know... The school thought my daughter had ADD. But did she? Nope. It was the gluten.
  20. I have answered my own question. As I feared, the edges of the pasta were crispy. Not as tough as the wheat pasta was, but certainly not something you'd want. Daughter hated it! I won't be making any more lasagna for another year or so.
  21. I bought the wrong thing! Deboles no boil. I usually buy the Tinkyada which is not no boil and I've had no problems except for when I made the lasagna with no eggs (I'm allergic) and it didn't set up. So I had a mess. I recently made stuffed shells and used ground flax instead of eggs. Worked like a dream! So I used that trick with the lasagna. The...
  22. My daughter and I have outgrown some allegeries but ours are IgG, or some people would say intolerances.
  23. I got it at least partially before my daughter was diagnosed. I must say she has food allergies and not celiac so not quite the same. I post to a diabetes newsgroup and a man there had a wife who had celiac. He explained that she could not have a salad that had so much as one crouton on it that had been picked off. So that part I got. But I didn't understand...
  24. Paperwork arrived yesterday. Had to answer some questions including the meds and supplements we are on. Are we diabetic? Do we have celiac? What kind of diet are we on? Such as vegetarian. There is a little bag on each piece of paperwork to enclose the hair. Tiny bag considering how long my daughter's hair is! We are going to get our hair done on...
  25. Don't do it! Gloves or no gloves, you shouldn't be working around wheat.
