ARCHIVED Kitchen Space
Juliebove replied to bikerhaustx's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
We have no pantry at all. The few cabinets I have wouldn't hold all of the food anyway. We keep extra things in the garage so long as they are in cans and jars. I had to buy a large shelving unit for the dining room to hold extra food and some other things. We still have literally no counter space. I have to use the pull out cutting board and the top... -
Thankee thankee! I called them and there is no flavor whatever. So it will work for me. Guess I should use google. I've been using swagbucks.
-
Thanks! It doesn't say what the flavor is though. I will see if I can find the company and write to them.

ARCHIVED Olive Garden gluten-free Menu
Juliebove replied to GracieO's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
I believe someone posted here a while back that it is no longer frozen pasta. They cook it from scratch. I have no issues with the pasta except that the carb count is far too high for most diabetics (like me) to eat. My complaint is with the salad. They keep putting croutons on it even when you say that you don't want them. Once the salad came out... -
Not only can I not have mint, but also clove and almond. And I really do need one for sensitive teeth. I am using Closeup cinnamon right now. I really don't like the taste of cinnamon too much and it does seem to be irritating my gums. I know I used this kind years ago but quit when I needed the sensitive kind. I also have an extreme dislike for the...

ARCHIVED Anyone Heard Of This Test?
Juliebove replied to Juliebove's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Peas were not listed so I am going to assume she can. At this point the only thing she added back in is wheat. She did say that she felt sick to her stomach but I have been very sick to my stomach all day. I don't know if I have a virus or what. We both had a stomach virus twice recently. At least that's what the Dr. said. -
ARCHIVED Anyone Heard Of This Test?
Juliebove replied to Juliebove's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Yes. It also said which vitamins/minerals we were deficient in and that seemed to be dead on, at least for me. I did have testing done at a regular Dr. just prior. -
ARCHIVED Fear Of Eating Away From Home.
Juliebove replied to Mom-of-Two's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
Be careful at Olive Garden. They tend to put croutons on the salad even if you order gluten-free. You have to tell them not to put them on. Even then we did get a salad with a lone crouton that I think fell on there. -
ARCHIVED Anyone Heard Of This Test?

ARCHIVED Winco Pasta
Juliebove replied to Adalaide's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Our Winco in Everett WA has boxed gluten-free pasta. Not sure about the bulk but we don't buy much bulk food. Mainly only wrapped things. -
ARCHIVED I'm Just Making Sure We All Like Red Robin
Juliebove replied to mommyto2kids's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
We tried the one in Woodinville and also in Bothell. They always get the orders wrong. Heck even before we had to order gluten-free, the one in Lynnwood would get the order wrong. -
Yes! When my daughter was first diagnosed, we ate a lot of gluten-free pasta. But then the last few times I made it the way I usually did, I just did not want it. I have since made it a lot less often. I have tried different sauces and I have even tried some expensive pasta imported from Italy. Now that was goooooood! We went off of Lay's Stax for...

ARCHIVED Semolina Is A Grain?
Juliebove posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
So yesterday I was talking to two people about pasta. I was telling them the story of how the Dr. who diagnosed my daughter for the second time with a wheat allergy said my Italian husband wouldn't get gluten-free pasta because Italians ate semolina pasta. I replied to her that he had been eating it and he liked it. She looked shocked. The one woman... -
I have been using Rogaine. I have hair loss that I think is caused by using statins. I think this because I was put on a statin and insulin at the same time. At first I thought the insulin was to blame. My SIL is a nurse. I was talking to her and she said her sister who was also put on insulin around the same time I was, was also losing her hair. But...

ARCHIVED I'm Just Making Sure We All Like Red Robin
Juliebove replied to mommyto2kids's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
Two thumbs down from me. They have messed up our orders again and again and again. I doubt we will ever go back. The last time we had to wait 2 hours and still no food. They finally comped our whole meal. And my daughter was late for her dance class. -
ARCHIVED Think I Glutened My Kid
Juliebove replied to Avalon451's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Sorry to hear that. My daughter was sick for a week in Dec. and then again last week. For the whole week! Kept taking her to the Dr. and they kept saying it was a virus. I just don't know what to think. Today her Endo. switched her diabetes med to another form just in case it was that. It's frustring. I know. -
I have neuropathy but it is caused by diabetes. I take Evening Primrose Oil, 2,000 mg each morning and night. I also take Alpha Lipoeic Acid. I'm not sure that works but some people find that it does.

ARCHIVED Time For A New Toaster
Juliebove replied to dcns65's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
We got a cheap one. I think it was around $10. Toasts just fine. The only problems are that it isn't a cool tough and the gluten-free bread is so lightweight that it throws the toast and we then have to find it. -
ARCHIVED Freezing Gluten Free Cakes
Juliebove replied to CrystalDawn's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I once bought a frosted gluten-free sheet cake that I also think was dairy and egg free. That thing was huge! The place where I bought it from no longer makes cakes. Anyway... I cut it into individual pieces and put each in one of those Gladware kind of containers. At 6 months there were still a few piece left and my daughter said they were fine. -
ARCHIVED Non-Food Items Your Baby Or Child Needs To Avoid
Juliebove replied to Esther Sparhawk's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Note that she didn't say there was gluten in there. She just said she avoided it. Just like she avoids hand sanitizer and wipes. I have never heard of gluten in crayons but some do contain soy if you're allergic to that. I don't go by lists anyway. I always check the labels. -
ARCHIVED Help Please? 13 Year Old Son Sneaking Wheat!
Juliebove replied to candygirl69's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
My daughter's friends have for the most part been very reluctant to eat any gluten free foods. They just think it is weird. They only tried the gluten-free brownies at her birthday party after we had an accident with the real cake. The cake was still edible. The frosting just got a little messed up. One girl took a small bite of a brownie then asked... -
I'm no expert but I think there is casein in all dairy products. I was told I could have goat's milk products but those made me just as ill.
-
I don't personally think IHOP is a safe place to eat if you have gluten issues. I can't speak for the hash browns. I don't know if they contain gluten or not. But... They are making pancake batter. So flour is in the air.

ARCHIVED Non-Food Items Your Baby Or Child Needs To Avoid
Juliebove replied to Esther Sparhawk's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Chapstick is a brand. And AFAIK everything they make is fine. People do seem to use that word to mean lip balm. I have seen wheatgerm oil in some lip balms but I can't remember which ones now. There is a children's bath product with wheat in it but I can't remember the name now. I want to say Alba. But that might be wrong. Also a reminder that...
