  1. Teff Wraps. From La Tortilla Factory. Nuke for about 10 seconds to soften. Spread with whatever they can eat such as margarine, mustard, coconut oil, mayo, etc. Or they may prefer without a spread. Sprinkle on some shredded lettuce or cabbage then top with lunch meat or leftover cooked meat. Roll like a burrito. Hummus with gluten-free crackers or...
  2. Do not eat someting you are allergic to! If you tested as allergic, I would think you *do* need an Epi pen. The way I understand IgE allergies they can worsen over time. Some do go away but peanut is not usually one of them. My daughter has an IgG allergy aka intolerance to peanuts. For her if she ingests so much as what is present in cross contamination...
  3. A new bottle or jar would be safe. But if you touched the tip of the bottle to wheat bread or dipped a knife in the jar after it touched wheat bread, it would not be safe. I can't comment on the rest of the stuff.
  4. Yep! No alcohol for me. Two sips leaves me loopy. Wasn't that way many years ago but it is now. Gluten isn't an issue for me so I don't know what it is.
  5. Yikes! No wonder you don't notice a difference. Maybe you're not handling flour but it is all around you and most likely you are touching the bread. Right?
  6. I'm no expert but I'd be willing to say that you've caused so much damage by now from eating the wrong things that it will take a long time to heal. Also are you sure that everything in your kitchen is gluten-free? No cross contamination?
  7. In this state it is against health code regulations to allow outside food. That being said, we have been allowed to bring things in on occasion. But not recently. We actually haven't asked recently.
  8. I was a vegetarian for many years. If you eat eggs and dairy you'll be getting enough protein. Nuts and beans are good to add too. Brown rice is better for you than white. Quinoa is another good food. Just make sure to eat plenty of vegetables and fruits if you like them. Try to eat from the rainbow and you'll be fine.
  9. Okay then! That's kinda wacked. I couldn't edit my post. But then I was able to reply and change it. And I can edit the reply. Hmmm...
  10. I stand corrected. I now see that salad on the menu. It is just at the bottom and there is no picture of it. It does say that the chicken is gluten-free.
  11. I know the feeling of not wanting to eat. Sometimes I wish I could just take a pill and get it over with! As a teen, I had a very rough time when I had some sort of stomach thing happen to me. I got very ill and couldn't keep any food down. When I finally got better I was still so fearful of food and even drinks with calories in them that I wouldn't...
  12. Yes, I realize this is an old post but I figured I'd answer in case it might help someone else. All of my life I was sick to my stomach. Just all the time. I thought everyone was. I also went through tons of tissues for my nose. I knew everyone wasn't like this but I knew my family was. And they still are. Long story short, the school thought that...
  13. I'm a diabetic and I wish we could just brush off sugar once in a while. Actually sure isn't a problem for us. It's total carbs. Yes, sugar is a carb. We eat too many carbs, no matter the source and we have high blood sugar. People don't understand that either!
  14. Tuna salad isn't always safe because for some strange reason some places put bread crumbs in it. But this place said it was safe. All you can do is go with what they say.
  15. Gluten is not an issue for me but I do have food intolerances and diabetes. When I was first diagnosed with diabeties, I would see the word "poison" on pretty much every food I saw because I didn't know what to eat. That got better with time. But it was still a very long time before I would be around other people eating food. I just figured if I couldn...
  16. I try not to have people eat here. For one thing we have only a tiny dining table and really no place else for people to sit. I have old crappy furniture that needs to be replaced but I can't afford to do that. The last time I had people over it was my parents for Christmas lunch. I made gluten-free turkey and noodles which they all liked. I did...
  17. I got to thinking of the times I had a hypo in a restaurant and that's no fun either! Once when I was new to insulin, we met at a restaurant. We were all there except for my nephew. My brother called him and he said he was within minutes of the place. So I shot the insulin. And then he didn't come. And then I had a hypo. Turns out he wasn't even in...
  18. I outgrew my dairy intolerance. But I didn't listen to the Dr. She told me because it had made me so ill, never to eat it again. I tried it. I was fine. My daughter was told she could have it twice a week. So I had it twice a week. I was fine. But then the two of us began cheating. We were eating more and more dairy to the point where I...
  19. I'm a diabetic. I have gastroparesis which also limits what I can eat. Add in the multiple food intolerances and it's just no fun! Gluten is not an issue for me but it may as well be because almost all bread has milk and possibly even egg or cross contamination with those and/or nuts. Bottom line is I never have bread at a restaurant. And if I do have...
  20. Hmmm... There is no such salad currently listed on their menu. But they do still have the disclaimer that they can not guarantee their food to be free of allergens. Which is one reason I would never eat there. AFAIK their chicken is not gluten-free. Restaurant chicken often is not.
  21. Yikes! I would say most likely she should not have given the girl any cheese but... I don't really know why she was not to have milk.
  22. The steak might not be safe either. They might put soy sauce on it.
  23. My daughter has had them but they just don't work for us because they always seem to have nuts or seeds in there. She has additional food intolerances.
  24. Spanish rice made with brown rice. It smells good! I just hope that my daughter will eat it. She doesn't really like brown rice. But she is on the South Beach diet so white rice is out. Also a side of zesty salsa refried beans.
  25. I have noticed the opposite here. More and more places are offering gluten-free things. Oddly enough my daugher has outgrown her gluten intolerance so she doesn't need those things! But it is good for other people. I do agree with the poster who mentioned gluten-free as being a fad. I had some Energ-G bread that I wanted to give to a person who needed...
