  1. Mine started at birth. So 1959.
  2. I never really measure for my sauce. I used to use Italian seasoning but now that my daughter and I know that we are intolerant to some things it contains, I can not. But for that amount of sauce I would have used probably a teaspoon. I would not have added the other herbs. My husband (who is Italian) would like that amount of garlic. I would not. You...
  3. Yep. Something like that happened to my daughter. My mom snapped off a piece of her chalupa shell and dunked it in the dip. To which I replied, "Thanks! Now Angela can't have it." I got the rolled eyes too. Lots of people just don't get it. Oh and my mom has food allergies or intolerances herself but she believes that she can still eat those foods...
  4. Our stove looked like someone roasted a pig in it and not in a pan! I flat out refused to even try to clean it. I just bought a new one. Not an expensive one. Took me a few years to get a new fridge. I would think the biggest problem would be cupboards and drawers. I recently lined some of mine with that stuff that has sort of a foam texture with...
  5. We gave up on cake. Nobody else would eat it and daughter didn't really like it. One year we did Enjoy Life cookies arranged in a tower. Several years we did gluten-free brownies. People usually seem to like those. This year she is on a diet so it will be an Edible Arrangement with no dipped fruit.
  6. Sorry, I just now saw this. I test allergic to cats. I had two as a child. No problems. Have had roommates with cats. Taken in strays. No problems. Have owned three as an adult. No problem. Can go to cat shows, cat shelters, etc. Usually no problems. Visited my nephew who had a mom cat and babies. Sneezed my head off. Broke out head to toe...
  7. I react to things sporadically and one of those things is nylon. Happened to me as a child. I got a weird itchy rash on the bottom of my feet which the Dr. said was caused by the nylon in my socks. I had to stop wearing them and could only wear cotton socks. I was a dancer so I did have to wear tights. I found I could wear them for an hour or two but...
  8. I had the hair testing done. Turns out I am intolerant to many different herbs including mint! Also oats and rye. Yes, I know rye isn't gluten-free but gluten isn't my problem. I had been eating bread with oats and rye. My stomach settled down when I changed my diet. My blood sugar dipped from the 400's down to hypos. I am still working on that. I...
  9. Are there any natural springs near where you live? We have one here and it is always packed with people getting water. Now what you would put that water in to transport? I don't know. You can also buy some bottled water in glass bottles. Open Original Shared Link
  10. But isn't PVC plastic? All of the pipes in our house are made of that. And they were to the main line as well until we had them replaced with copper.
  11. I found a black bean in my popcorn the other day!
  12. I have the Joslin book written for Drs. about diabetes. In it, they say that there are over 300 variants to diabetes and yet we are all for the most part classified as type 1 or 2. Yes there is gestational diabetes but those who get that are more likely to get type 2 in the future. Anyway... There is no doubt in my mind that there might be some variant...
  13. As a diabetic myself I can say there is no reason to be terrified of it. Type 1 is thought to be brought on by a virus. What virus? I don't know. Just like we don't know for sure what causes celiac.
  14. Close to 80 today which is hot for here.
  15. Could be cc on the fruit.
  16. Most mayo is made of eggs. You can get soy mayo but you didn't get that kind.
  17. Yep. Similar situation here. Not celiac but food intolerances or allergies. Not sure which exactly. Just know what foods this person has said in the past that she can't eat. And then she eats them. And then she complains about how sick she is. And then she wants sympathy. Well she won't get it from me. I just leave. I won't deal with it. I do know...

    ARCHIVED 12 Year Old

I know the feeling. Gluten isn't an issue for me but I can't tell you how many times I have gotten food in a restaurant only to find something in it that I can't have. Even after I thought I was clear to the wait person. It might help if you could have the wait person or the manager have a talk with her. At The Old Spaghetti Factory, the manager came...
  19. The elimination diet per se didn't work for me because I have mulitple intolerances and also delayed reactions. But once I got tested and eliminated the foods I shouldn't eat, I did get better. However at about the two week mark I did get very ill. I think it was detox. If you are having joint pains, you might want to do away with nightshades like eggplant...
  20. Yes. I'd say gout too.
  21. My daughter likes their tuna stuff. I don't personally like boxed stuff like that very much. What I used to do once in a while though was take a box of mac and cheese and add cooked ground beef to it. And now I am doing more things with rice. Rice casserole tomorrow. Adding peas, ground beef, onions and a box of gluten-free beef gravy but mushroom...
  22. I am intolerant to casein. I was in the past. Then according to testing, I wasn't. The Dr. warned me not to eat any just because of how severe my symptoms had been. But did I listen? No. At first it wasn't a problem. Then I noticed that if I got the nachos at Target, I couldn't make it through the store even for a quick shopping trip. The big D...
  23. I don't notice that they give me gas but I can get the big D if I eat too much. I did quit eating it for a while but then started back up again. Just a light sprinkle on my toast along with some hemp hearts. No problems this time. I also used to use flax as an egg sub and it worked quite will in things like meatloaf. But I had to quit that when I learned...
  24. It could be a combination of things. When my daughter was that age, her food intolerances had not yet been diagnosed. She would do something weird. She would throw her fork down on her dinner plate and scream that she was hungry and wanted a snack! I could never figure out what that meant. I do know that she did love and still does love pre-packaged...
  25. I'm not a celiac but I have that problem too. Not even sure what the cause is.
