ARCHIVED Newly Gluten Free, Still Having Problems?
Juliebove replied to doalltheyoga's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Are you sure there is no cross contamination? Did you totally clean out your kitchen? Get rid of anything that might have gluten on/in it? Wooden cutting board? Toaster? Tub of butter or margarine? Peanut butter, jelly, condiments? Do you have a shared kitchen? And even if you did do these things, a week isn't a very long time. It can take a while... -
ARCHIVED Glucola For Diabetes Fasting Test - Alternative?
Juliebove replied to celiacsoprano's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I don't think I had glucola because it wasn't cola. I think it was orange flavored. Whatever it was, made me super sick. I couldn't eat for two days after. I too have read about the jelly beans but have never heard of a Dr. that would use them. And would they be free of soy? -
ARCHIVED Newly Diagnosed Celiac- Have Removed Gluten But Still Having The Primary Symptom!
Juliebove replied to tscc's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
You have to be really strict. If you can't get your own toaster then you could try those toaster bags. I don't know that they work because I haven't tried them. Or make your toast on a cookie sheet in the oven. We got my daughter her own little fridge for condiments and such. We had to because there just wasn't enough room in the big fridge which... -
ARCHIVED Recomendations For Diet Substitutes
Juliebove replied to shay3624's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
That diet doesn't sound very good to me. If I were you I would get a referral to a dietician who can help devise a gluten free diet that will be nutritionally sound for you and allow you to lose weight. I do not usually take dietary advise from Drs. because they are not well trained in that regard. My daughter is on the South Beach diet and it worked... -
Gluten is not an issue for me but if it were, I likely wouldn't have coffee at a place that served desserts. Too much risk of cross contamination. Unless perhaps they made the desserts elsewhere. And even then there is still the chance of it. Does this place serve fresh fruit? If so, that might be an option. But even at that there could be cross contamination...

ARCHIVED Easy/processed Meat For Super Sensitive?
Juliebove replied to aquaholical's topic in Super Sensitive People
I do not like meat at all. Was a vegetarian for most of my life but I keep getting anemia if I don't eat meat a couple of times a week. One thing that I didn't mind so much was canned chicken. I really dislike biting into a chunk of meat and because this is so soft, it mixes in easily. I would often have it with rice and chicken broth. Sadly I am... -
ARCHIVED Am I Having A Really Delayed Reaction To Dairy?
Juliebove replied to desperateforhealth's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Could be the dairy. I quit all dairy. I tested as not intolerant to it any more but the Dr. cautioned me that based on my reaction to it, I should not eat it. So I didn't for a long time. But then I reasoned... My daughter was no longer intolerant and it didn't bother her. I ate some. I was fine. I ate some more. I was fine. And then the day... -
ARCHIVED "silent" Migraines - What To Watch For?
Juliebove replied to Pegleg84's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Hmmm... I have had migraines but my symptoms are not like yours. Uusally but not always at the start of it there will be visual disturbances. There might be portions of my vision that are missing. I might see something that looks sort of like the outline of a crown that is brightly colored and shot through with black. Sort of like a firework. I... -
Hard to say if it is good or bad with so little information. What the allergist might do is have you bring in a list of the foods that you typically eat. Or they might not. I have found that allergists tend not to check for food allergies and only focus on the inhalents unless you tell them otherwise. For my daughter and for me, we have food intolorances...

ARCHIVED A Freedom Diet? Im So Lost!
Juliebove replied to Dejibo's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I have gastroparesis. If in fact you do have it, you need to cut quite a lot of things out of your diet. Not just tropical fruits but probably most fruits and veggies. You may be able to eat applesause or canned/poached pears. Those things work for me although I don't really like fruit all that well so rarely eat them. White rice is one thing that... -
ARCHIVED Other Types Of Natural Chemicals In Food
Juliebove replied to bartfull's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Ah, interesting! I haven't a clue what is causing my psoriasis. I just started the nettle tea. Too soon to tell if it is helping. -
ARCHIVED Sharing My Gluten Free With A Gluten Eater
Juliebove replied to Angel M's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Oh tell me about it! Gluten isn't even my problem. I do have other food intolerances. I have a combination of problems. One is GERD and I am supposed to take a pill an hour before I eat. This is hard enough to time at home, but if we are eating with other people, it can be tough. At times I just have to skip the pill and hope I don't suffer. But there... -
ARCHIVED Other Types Of Natural Chemicals In Food
Juliebove replied to bartfull's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Maybe there is no connection? I test as intolerant to a variety of things. And yet there are other things that I can't eat or can't eat much of because they bother me for other reasons. Chocolate sets off my GERD. Too much garlic gives me stomach pains. I can't seem to have mashed potatoes now. They make me sick to my stomach. But I can eat baked or... -
ARCHIVED Setting Up 504 For Highschooler- What Am I Leaving Out?
Juliebove replied to MitziG's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I would make sure to mention the touching of wheat. Last year in my daughter's science class they were required to use pasta wagon wheels. AFAIK those don't come in gluten-free. They were making a car out of pasta. This year the project involved eating Jolly Ranchers and she can't have sugar on her diet. You'd think the eating and touching of food would... -
From what I have been told about fillings, you are better off to leave them in. Removing them can only release the bad stuff. But perhaps you should talk to your dentist about that. I have had a mouthful of fillings. Still have some but most are crowns now.

ARCHIVED gluten-free Options In Gluten-Using Restaurants
Juliebove replied to josie656's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
Well you just never know. We try to find places that cook from scratch and it helps if we can speak to the chef. We also eat a very limited diet when it comes to restaurants. Things like a hamburger patty, maybe a steak. Steaks aren't always safe. Daughter once got one with gravy on it! Who does that? I've been told that they don't know if the seasoning... -
I know this is an old post but I too get this sometimes. At one point I thought it was a new shower wash that I had tried. Twice I itched all over from using it. But I had used it one time prior and it was fine. I have since used it and had no problems. So... Maybe it was something my daughter used in the shower prior? I did this to her once. Used...

ARCHIVED Can Only Eat White Potatoes And White Rice Without Pain
Juliebove replied to aquaholical's topic in Super Sensitive People
I am not celiac but have a lot of food intolerances. Luckily most veggies are okay for me except that I also have gastroparesis so I don't digest some of them well. But for some reason I have been having potato problems lately. I start to eat them and then just sort of have an aversion to them. And if I eat more than a few bites, they sit like lead in... -
ARCHIVED Arsenic In Rice?
Juliebove replied to rachelh4207's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I just cleaned out the garage freezer and defrosted it. So next week for me it will be potato products. Sweet potato products for daughter. And meat patties or chicken that she didn't like too much. I am hoping she will forget that she didn't like it. Heh. -
ARCHIVED Shared Dishes And Cc Risks
Juliebove replied to cdog7's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I would do the same unless I were able to wash them there in the sink and then keep them in my desk. But really, I would probably just bring lidded containers from home and take them back home. -
Some years ago I had an unfortunate experience at the dentist. As a child, I was eating a candy cane. I bit it and the tooth cracked under the filling. Long story short there, my family had seen a really bad dentist who did a lot of work that didn't need to be done, including putting 8 fillings at one time in my mouth. He did not do this one properly...

ARCHIVED Why I Still Eat Bread...
Juliebove replied to SandraLAVixen's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Has it occurred to you that you could have an allergy/intolerance to something else in the bread? I can not have dairy among other things. Even a small amount of dairy makes me very ill. Most bread does contain milk or butter. I also can not have rye. And my daughter can't have flax. Bread contains a lot of ingredients! -
I ate a few sliced of canned beets tonight. I wasn't very hungry so I didn't eat a lot. But so far so good!
