  1. Yeah. I have lived in places like that!
  2. Our lights don't go off. They are on a sensor so they come on when it is dark.
  3. Yeah, when my daughter was younger I made sure not to put up any scary stuff. But now that she's 13, she wants it to look scary!
  4. Sorry to hear that! I really have no clue what it might be but I hope they get it sorted out soon!
  5. Not all gluten-free pasta dries out when cold. I just made a pasta salad that my daughter loves. I use a quinoa pasta that I get at the health food store. It is called Pagoda shape. But any large shape will do. It is the Tricolored kind. Cook until just done. Don't over cook. Immediately plunge in cold water to stop the cooking. Mix in whatever...
  6. Daughter and I just put up most of our decorations. We have some battery operated things that need new batteries. Those will not go out until Halloween night. Also have some lights that are little pumpkins and ghosts. We will wait to put those up because we need to run an extension cord across the yard. We have a gardener who comes to mow and do other...
  7. I once bought this stuff from Walden Farms. It does contain Splenda but it was not sweet. Tasted like eating straight tomato paste. Yucky wucky doo doo. Open Original Shared Link
  8. When I got the croutons I did not mention the allergy but did order from their gluten free menu. I would have assumed that would be enough. Apparently not. Once there was a lone crouton. Apparently it fell on the salad. The waiter was just going to pick it off. Uh... I don't think so.
  9. A lot of people seem to think making fun of people is funny. I can remember seeing Don Rickles on the Tonight show and he almost had me in tears. I was a kid back then. Not funny to me at all.

    ARCHIVED Eggs?

I will never touch an egg again. Violent stomach reactions. I have been tested and I do have an IgG allergy. I suppose it could be worse. Eggs are one of the easier things to avoid.
  11. This doesn't really work either. It would seem that most people don't understand what wheat is. We have gotten salad with croutons, bread and rolls and pork chops with flour on them. They will just tell us it's only flour, or seasoning of some sort or just bread. Even when I have said something specific like "no croutons" we have gotten a salad with one...
  12. I would *never* eat at Applebees. They are clueless and the food comes in frozen anyway. It's not even good.
  13. That restaurant would never have been our first choice. My daughter and I don't really like it. It is pretty much like a Denny's. The only appeal is that they are open 24 hours. So it's the only place we can eat late at night. We do have Denny's here. It's just that with all of our food allergies there is little there that is safe for us to eat. I...
  14. It wasn't croutons. It was flat bread. I could see croutons not being listed. I do usually ask about croutons. But since several salads did list croutons and this did not, I didn't ask. This is the first time I have ever seen bread on a salad.
  15. Just to clarify... They did bring her another salad minus the bread. But they did charge us some extra.
  16. Gee... I just used my name.
  17. Thanks! I will have to remember to do that.
  18. I think she was new. We don't go there often. So I don't really know for sure.
  19. She has always dreaded school and has not always gone to the same school. We move here from NY. I will ask her again about the bullying. She has said it hasn't happened. She did have an incident in something like 1st or 2nd grade. I can't remember. It was on the bus and a 6th grade boy stole her lunchbox and wouldn't give it back. That is the only...
  20. A different school isn't an option and bullying isn't allowed. I will try to talk to her about it again. They have "no bullying" signs all over the school and if anything like that happens that child will be suspended or expelled depending on the circumstances. As for karate, there is no way I would allow her to take that. My husband had to have hand...
  21. Thanks! We had a Dr. recommend Montessori years ago. But there is no way we can afford it. She is not celiac. She has food allergies. It was her behavior in school that led to her diagnosis. The teacher thought she had ADHD. Her dad does have it and so does her grandpa. She does not act hyper like they do but she does have trouble paying attention...
  22. Anyone have experience with this? My daughter is in the 8th grade and pushing me hard to do it. She is refusing to go to school. Which doesn't set well with me. So much so that I have threatened to go to the counselor if she doesn't get on the bus. She has already missed 4 days this year. She she was sick. But this is a replay of the year before and...
  23. My daughter has a peanut allergy and peanut oil does affect her. When she was first diagnosed, the Dr. said to give her cashews instead of peanuts. Stupid me! I just went to Albertsons and bought three cans of cashews because they were on sale. I kept one in the back of the van in case she wanted a snack. Then it began to dawn on me that every time...
  24. Yes they make a wheat bread. I have bought it for myself. It is nasty so I find it hard to believe that the gluten-free one is any good. The wheat one is very dry and crumbly and goes moldy quickly.
  25. When I couldn't have real cheese I used rice cheese for my nachos. First I loaded the chips with refried beans. Then I used a little bit of the rice cheese, mostly for visual effect. Heated through in the microwave then topped with plenty of things like hot peppers, black olives, green onions, tomatoes and salsa. The other Mexican foods are all fine...
