  1. Yesss, way to go, I hope they do that up here too.
  2. Happy 19th, with experience birthday! I'm glad you had a great day!
  3. I'm just surprised that she showed up again. I thought that she said she wasn't coming back, but I must have misunderstood her post. It would be nice if she mellowed out her presentation a bit. Some of it might even be interesting about how other people think and live their lives with Celiac.
  4. Yes, Pamela's are excellent as well, unfortunately we can't get them here, and I hate paying shipping costs.
  5. Hi Sally; A cronic cough and scratchy throat can also be caused by acid reflux, or GERD
  6. Does anyone know how to direct her to nini newbie kit? That might be really helpful.
  7. Wow, it sounds like he had a wonderful and safe party! That's great ... it can be done if a little thought is put into it
  8. This really is too funny! Thanks for the laugh! I just know I'm going to think about this every time I get gassy now.
  9. But if you are into "treats" there are lots of those around too that are gluten free I for one hardly ever pass up a good gluten free ice cream, cakes, chocolate, etc.
  10. Me too I use club soda for the liquid, my dad couldn't tell the difference when he was here. He just about flipped when I sat down and grabbed some pancakes
  11. Hi Pat e; Welcome to the board. I'm so sorry you've had to go through something like that. I do hope that you have completely recovered. The diet is certainly confusing and at times depressing when you first start. I think because in the early days we continually say "I can't have that". But as you learn more, things get to be more normal. If...
  12. Oh good, every time I spot a Lindt in the store I promise myself that I will check the company for their gluten free status when I get home. But I never seem to remember Now I guess it is gluten free if you are eating it I'm going into town next Sat., so will pick one up.
  13. I know this has nothing to do with the board, but to show how a random act of kindness can start a great friendship. I was going to the bank to do some stuff I had to do at a teller station, and this other lady came in the doors about the same time as me. Anyway, it was a gorgeous day and I wasn't in a hurry (which was a good thing as there was a huge...
  14. That's a good idea Gail, healthfood stores would likely know the safest places.
  15. Some also have toasted wheat germ. Read the labels and you'll be fine.
  16. I was 42 when diagnosed, I'm 60 now ... that's 15 with 45 years of experience I love that Peter.
  17. I really can't help you in Wisconsin, however in general, if you have to eat in a restaurant in your travels, a steak house, or a family oriented restaurant is easier. At least where we are, as we don't have chain restaurants with glutne free menus here. I usually stick with something like an omelet for breakfast or lunch, and something simple like a...
  18. Oh, yes, there are many acts of kindness on this board. I love that Penquin is our CIA (Celiac Intelgence Agent) with her cooking class. I had no idea that they added wheat to eggs to keep them fresh at a buffet. Thank you Penquin, do a happy dance
  19. In several years of checking, I haven't come across a syrup that isn't gluten free. When we make syrup here, it's just berries cooked down and then squeezed through a jelly bag, add sugar and then boiled until it thickens a bit. Having said that, I haven't checked Mrs Butterworths in the last year or so. It used to be gluten free, at least here in Canada...
  20. Just one more thing to add. If you have dogs, cats or horses, etc. They can give you pink eye, and you can give them pink eye. It's interchangeable between human and animal. So, if you have a dog, or cat in the house and you have been petting them etc. they could carry the virus, get the pink eye, or pass it on to anyone else in the house. ... Now ain...
  21. Oops, made a boo boo, my answer ended up in the middle of your quote Try going up to the top bar and running your mouse down all the menus until you find a zoom button, then it will give you a choice on how far up you can zoom up. It's worth a try, there is a zoom button in most browzers somewhere. In IE it is under 'page' but sometimes it's under...
  22. I'm impressed as well, thank you for posting it. I just wish they would put out a proper "print" version as you would need a magnifying glass to read it printed. I tried pasting it in Word 2000, and made the print larger, but then lost lots of words, so didn't work that way
