  1. That is so super! Good for them for making you feel special. Those girls are keepers
  2. Liz, that's my laugh for the day, I'm going to picture your hubby with that hammer all day now Did he use a chisel too? That's too funny! Yup, chocolate has come a long way ... it's now a health food. Isn't it wonderful? Melt it and dip strawberries in it and you have a chocolate fruit salad
  3. I'm another one that has been at this for a long time. Mostly I've adjusted and I just do 'routine' shopping. Pick up the stuff I know. What up-sets me is when they change a formally gluten free product and put malt or something stupid in it. I can deal with the stuff that's always been off the list pretty much. It's funny because my non celiac hubby...
  4. Hello, Happy Valentines Day, I'm a little late on that I know. It's been another busy day today, this time in Nelson. Yes, Liz, we live 45 minutes driving time to either Castlegar or Nelson depending on which way we turn at the junction. It's great to have two towns handy to shop in. Today I blew my diet again ... we took a friend out to lunch...
  5. Now if we had a nickle for every post on this subject
  6. I suppose everyone is in bed by now I just got home from a meeting in Castlegar. Actually made it home before 10:00 now that's bonus Let's see ... today B- rice cereal with skim milk L- peanut butter and banana sandwich ... kinnikinnic bread D - skipped as I was on the road, but did snack on a piece of cheese and a gluten-free breakfast bar...
  7. That's a good idea! Chicken wire would likely be the only thing to stop her and break the cycle. Older dogs to tend to come up with strange things to amuse themselves. Puppies as well, maybe they go back to their puppyhood after 10
  8. I'm AB blood type I'm not vegitarian, I don't know what my blood type would dictate though. It actually does, but I get away with it at breakfast time because I'm usually not around any food in the morning after breakfast. I'm either downstairs painting Signs or Christmas ornaments, or in the spring through fall, out in the garden, training dogs , or...
  9. Ham Chowder (especially at this time of year) Portions depend on size of pot, or family ... I make lots as it's so good for the next couple of days. Old fashion Ham .. for the two of us I use a large round slice (we can buy them already packaged) Rinse and dice fairly small Put in a large pot half full of water. Drop in a couple of...
  10. That really is an amazing story! Happy Anniversary Molly!
  11. I haven't weighed yet today. I'm going to have a late shower, will weigh then. My day usually starts at 6:30 up, cup of coffee, a nice walk with hubby and Sheba, breakfast and then shower. However I knew I was going to paint Santa's sleigh all morning downstairs, so decided to have my shower after lunch. I'm just having my lunch time tea, by then...
  12. The blood tests are pretty reliable if you have been eating gluten before the tests. If you have been gluten free they would likely give you a false negative. Let us know how things go, and welcome to the forum!
  13. Well, I ended up with boiled spuds for dinner today, along with baked beans, so I didn't bother with meat for myself. Just did hubby a couple of ribs. The beans were likely enough protien. Sheba and I slipped in a little ice cream for dessert ... shhhhhhhhh, Sheba's on a diet too Did have my glass of wine this evening too, so I'm probably around...
  14. Congratulations heathen!!! The first year is the hardest Hope you did something really fun!
  15. Isn't that the truth!
  16. Oh wow, what a busy day so far. Tons of work from the golf course meeting last night, and I hate having to tell people they didn't make the short list for the job posting I don't think I would make a very good boss Good thing I get to do it via email and not face to face. Had one of my quilters here this morning too to get lessons on cutting out...
  17. I've had problems with Sun Maid raisins and any chocolate covered ones. However, I've had Glutino raisin bread and don't have a problem. Go figure.
  18. You maybe haven't lost weight because you may be retaining fluids and gas like crazy. I do when I get contaminated. Can make a six pound difference in a day
  19. Liz, you shouldn't beat yourself up about having goodies, a dietician that specializes in loosing weight said that if you eat junk only 20% of the time, you are not doing yourself any harm, and then you don't feel deprived and will stick to a diet better. It does seem to work for me. I could not cut out completely, chocolate, or cake, cookies or all...
  20. This is a good thing to remember .. Thank you! Nuts do have an expiry date on them, but don't think they post dates on the bins. This could go for any food item, although I rarely buy anything out of a bin.
  21. My favourite is banana and peanut butter sandwich on Kinnikinnick sandwich bread
  22. It is such a shame that children have to go through this kind of thing, and so hard on the mothers. I sure hope that things get better soon. I know with acid reflux we are told as adults not to lay down until two hours after eating or drinking. That is really hard to do with a baby. I sure hope that you get some help and not just told to wait.
  23. Mariann you are right, a slice is only 70 calories, I still think that is a lot, as my hubby's gluten bread is 150 for two big thick slices, at least twice the size of the gluten free. I just think they use too much oil to hold it all together. It's been a crazy week, hardly have any time on the forum and I miss it. But tons of other computer work...
  24. Thanks for these links, I'm going to check them out this afternoon. Right now I have to get off the computer and make lunch. But these sound really helpful. Everyone here is great, and with a sense of humour ... Gotta keep that
  25. Good Lord, with that schedule you need to diet I'm so tired just reading this I'm going to go and pour myself a glass of wine and relax
