  1. I wasn't overly impressed with the alfredo, but I love the mac and cheese. Great when we've been in town all day and too tired to cook. I love to add all kinds of things to the pizza too
  2. Perhaps this one needs to be in the script for that reality show I would have liked to be a fly on the wall. But yes Tom, self-adhesive envelopes and stamps are a thing I'm no longer without.
  3. This is beautiful Bev! Thanks for sharing. He must have been a special man to be carrying that with him
  4. Hello, and welcome to the board. It's great that you want to learn how to change things over. If you will still be baking 'gluten' products, you will need to keep all that "floating" flour in mind. Flour tends to coat everything Also, gluten free baking should not be done in your old pans, as the corners are impossible to clean properly. As for...
  5. With the Kinnikinnick English muffins, I thaw just enough to be able to slice one in three, then put one or two slices back in the fridge in a sandwich bag. Then have it the next day just with butter with soup, or with a bit of butter and cheese. That way I'm not eating such a big muffin
  6. Thank heavens for good results Bev! I was away all day and just found this. That's just super news! BTW, what colour are the tassels?
  7. Our favourite restaurant in Nelson has a Celiac working there. They have gluten free Chinese food and gluten free fish & chips. It's wonderful! I've also been in three other restaurants where either the waitress was Celiac, or in the case of one, the waitress had a Celiac husband. It sure makes ordering a snap
  8. It sounds to me like you are not getting enough protien or fat in your diet. In fact, if that is all you are eating, it's not likely enough calories for an active person either. I realize it is difficult starting a gluten free diet, but you need to keep it as balanced as possible to get all the esentials. Fruit is great ... you are getting your fibre...
  9. Hi Katq, welcome to the forum, and thank you for posting that
  10. If I understand your question correctly ... A thread is a topic in this forum. For instance, you have just started a thread, it can stay on this topic, or sometimes it gets carried away and goes off on a topic all it's own Some of them can really be fun ... some very informative, and some just give support. All are very important to keeping this forum...
  11. I can't find a Canadian location listed, however, I see that they have four places that sell them in Colville Washington. I have a friend that goes down there on a regular basis and she picks me up what she calls my funky spices I'll get her to pick up a few bags of these too, then will put them in the freezer. Thanks everyone! Oh yeah ... my...
  12. I'll have a look for Mission here to start with, does Food For Life have a website? Thanks for the website Phyllis, I'll check it out now and see if they are in Western Canada
  13. I'm one of those people who would rather train dogs, quilt, or golf than cook or bake I think I'd better find some in the bag.
  14. Hello, welcome to the board. I personally use Kinnikinnick sandwich bread or tapioca white bread, How ever, I do like Glutino buns and Kinnikinnick English muffins are wonderful. You need to remember that which ever bread you choose, it needs to be heated either for a few seconds (I've found 24 seconds works) or toast it. If you are using a toaster...
  15. Hello; I'm not sure about pain relievers, I use Tylonal, I do know that Equate decongestion is gluten free, and I've heard quite a few of their products are. At least in Canada. Some where in this site is a gluten free meds thread. Have you tried a search? Gluten free eating does give you a learning curve for sure. I use Kinnikinnick white tapioca...
  16. I melt the chocolate in the micro too and pour it over fresh strawberries
  17. Why don't you try and explain that if you are right, and the tests are positive, that having Celiac disease, treated by diet, will actually save them money in the long run by keeping you healthier? It might be worth a shot
  18. It's so hard to find licorice that is gluten free ... I'm surprised there is a licorice tea that is But yes ... got to flush all those germs down
  19. That really is cool ! It does make things a lot simpler if the staff is helpful. We realize it does take extra time, but most of us show it when we give a bigger than usual tip. Somehow we have to get across that we 'as a gluten free community' have the right to eat like everyone else. Just because our "kinda disability" doesn't show outside, we...
  20. Actually, I've had four restaurants that have asked me to leave. Two flattly told me (and a party of five) that they didn't have time to deal with diets and we should go elsewhere. The other two were Chinese restaurants and told me they were two nervous to serve me, guess they didn't feel their kitchens were gluten free. On the other side of...
  21. I met a friend on Saturday who had been cruising in Hawaii. She brought back a bag of Mission White Corn Tortillas. It says gluten free on the back of the bag. She says you just heat them and roll them up with refried beans or what ever you want and they are really good. Anyone else tried these, and does anyone know where to find them. They do have...
  22. A belated Happy Birthday Ryan. Hope it was a special day!
  23. If you are in Canada, all Neo Citron drinks are gluten free.
  24. Stef, too bad we can't eat the burgers anymore. I can remember yummy mushroom burgers that were to die for
  25. Yes, I try and avoid products made on the same line as gluten products also. Just not worth the risk.
