  1. Ah...Rusla, are you still into the Hershey Kisses? But you do dance nakked down the hall for exercise
  2. Hi Patti, it's much too soon for you to be vacuuming You should still be regulated to the computer and the couch How's hubby doing with his new house keeping duties anyway?
  3. There is lots of high fiber gluten free foods. Actually someone just posted a huge list of them last week. Will have to look for that. I believe it even listed chocolate. The big thing is movement. It doesn't have to be Mr. Universe, or Marathon running. Just have the two of you walk, enjoy the fresh air, if you don't have a dog, borrow one, they...
  4. MAYBE WE SHOULD ALL USE CAPS, AND THEN WE WOULD ALL BE THE SAME AND YOU CAN READ ALL THE POSTS WITHOUT PROBLEM . I WONDER WHAT SCOTT WOULD SAY
  5. My hubby and I are morning people, so we have a routine. Get up around six, have coffee, leash the dog and go out for a good brisk walk every day of the year. I also take vitamins, limit my wine to about 4 or 5 evenings a week just one glass. Try not to have chocolate in the house too often ... and it's miles to the nearest store so I can't give...
  6. I'm not sure where the poster is from, but here in Canada you can get tax benefits with a possitve diagnoses. Also you can get a disability grant from the federal government for retraining if you are in a very physical job that you can't keep up with. Again the diagnoses has to be complete.
  7. If you have to have the biopsy, it really isn't a good idea to start the diet before hand. Having said that, for breakfast eggs and fruit are both good. There are some gluten free cereals which I also use. Gluten free bread for toast and 'French toast'. There is also gluten free pancake mixes that are very good ... to the point where my Dad couldn't...
  8. Biopsies are only accurate if the surgeon takes them from several spots in the intestine. Some doctors will accept the blood tests being positive , and a postive response to the diet as proof of Celiac disease. Mine used to insist on the biopsy, but has changed his mind after seeing many with positive blood tests go on to healing with the diet...
  9. Yes, the board has really grown in the last little while. When I first joined I was 6,000 and something. (I had to re-join again after big problems with changing addresses and such) and now there is over 12,000. Some come and go, and some names are close to other names, so I have to think about which one I'm posting too ... And in my case .......
  10. All great advice already. It's great that you co-workers are trying to help and understand your problem. Good for them. It's really hard to know what happened. It all could have gluten free ingredients, but cut on a contaminated board, counters, or who knows. Really hard when you don't see it made. Also it's hard for non Celiacs to think that a...
  11. I never use anything from bulk food bins. It's too easy for a scoop to be carried from a gluten source to a non-gluten item. I have my own toaster, use paper towels in the micro and plates or paper towels down on the counter when I fix my food. However, I don't have separate dishes, pots etc. I just wash them well. Because I was diagnosed before...
  12. I didn't have morning sickness with either child either, I don't think there is anything wrong with you. We are just all different
  13. It doesn't take much gluten to make most of us miserable, that's for sure. I'm not sure how much it takes to damage the intestine. However, if the world were a perfect one, every doctor would have a serious illness, surgery, and a stay in hospital before they get their license. Then they would be more sympathetic to their patients. I don't wish a lifetime...
  14. Ditto, I also use McCormick and Club House.
  15. I get up, have a glass of wine and read for awhile, then sleep the rest of the night.
  16. I went in and saw that you had four now, and tried to raise it to five, but it wouldn't cooperate, so I think we should just ignore them all and know that we are all five stars on this board
  17. The diet wouldn't change your genetic code, so the gene test should work. However, it would change the outcome of the blood tests. So the complete panel probably would not be accurate.
  18. It really was funny, especially because Canola isn't a bean, it's a grain, a very tiny one, which is why they decided that it could easily be separated from wheat and the other grains without a cross contamination issue. My brother-in-law grows it in Sask. She was using un-refined sugar in the bread I think, I don't know why you couldn't substitute...
  19. I would just phone the company of the product you are concerned with and check it. I haven't heard that before, but don't really know for sure.
  20. It all looked so good! I could just smell that cinnamon Sure wish I lived close by, or maybe it's a good thing I don't ... I didn't hear colorie free Maybe Barb will bake some and bring it for coffee when I'm down in Trail at the end of the month We have three of us in the area, I live in the Slocan Valley, Barb lives in Fruitvale and Arlene...
  21. Angel food cake is delicious with whip cream and crushed pinapple mixed in it and used as a frosting. Also, if you are having people over, angel food caked diced in bite size portions, then a bowl of strawberries and whip cream to spoon over it Yum!
  22. Lots of snow days ... you only go to school in the summer? Never mind ... we are happy to have you here instead of school anyway.
  23. Oh my, that's terrible! Children shouldn't have to go through this stuff. I sure hope that they find help quickly!
  24. How about a dark cherry Sundae with hot chocolate syrup I deliberately didn't buy and good stuff last grocery day because I'm trying to drop a few pounds ... so I'm stuck with popcorn
