Yup, I'm constantly cleaning crumbs ... even when I can't see any. Oh well, I have clean counters when I'm finished, but like some of you, it's hard on the hands. I even have all Sheba's food gluten free...even her treats. Don't want to handle he other stuff.

ARCHIVED Gluten In Some Animal Meats?
Viola 1 replied to BBadgero's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I've eaten deer, elk and moose, and have no problem gluten wise with any of them. However, they do tend to be a bit more coarse than beef, so perhaps causing a bit of an up set tummy. As well, they are extremely lean compared to beef, although I don't know if that would be a problem for anyone or not. -

ARCHIVED What Do You All Thinnk?
Viola 1 replied to Karwei5's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Wow, I would say the tTg indicated Celiac Disease and not enough biopsies were done to confirm it the first time. In other words, they missed it on the one biopsy. So now you are dealing with more complications. What a shame he's had to suffer so much longer when he could have been on a gluten free diet and start healing. Let us know what the new biopsies... -
ARCHIVED How About A New Reality Show?
Viola 1 replied to lonewolf's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
You could put sound effects in the bathrooms ... or maybe just microphones ... the ex lax would provide the sound effects And of course all the things that go on in the bedroom with the spouse ... or not go on... if you are spending the night in the bathroom. Lord, that sounds all to familiar before gluten free. -

I've tried their product only once, and never will again. It would be really good for you to go over there and let them know that we think they should use dedicated lines. -
ARCHIVED Reoccurring Rash On Bottom
Viola 1 replied to Granny Garbonzo's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
I get a rash on my bottom every time I get contaminated. And it takes about 2 to 3 weeks to go away, depending on how much gluten contamination that I ended up with. As it tends to show up the day after a contamination, you may not realize that's what is happening. It takes a very tiny amount of gluten to bring out the rash. -
Hi Stefania; I can't help you with Guelph, as I live way across the country. However, there are several people here from Ont. that will be able to help you. And I know that there is lots of places in Guelph and Toronto that your friend will be able to get gluten free food. I'm sure the Ontario people will be on later today or in the morning and will...

ARCHIVED Celiac Girl Scout Campout
Viola 1 replied to kschell's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I led Brownies and Guides years ago, before gluten free. As I remember our camps, most of the things we made would have been easily changed. And it would have been no problem to set up a small portable card table close by to prepare gluten free foods without contamination. Hot dogs, hamburgers, bring your own buns of course, and check to see what is added... -
ARCHIVED Proctor & Gamble - Avoid This Company- Their Are Good Alternatives
Viola 1 replied to Deanne's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I wish I didn't have two jobs already, or I would try it. I have a celiac doctor who would even write me the letter. But unfortunately, I don't even have as much time here on the board as I would like. -

ARCHIVED How Common Is This In Families? Should I Tested?
Viola 1 replied to wahoo's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
From my experience fairly often. My mother, myself and our eldest daughter all have it. The rest of my family hasn't been tested, but I suspect a newphew has it and a neice. I wished all would be tested so that the damage is kept to a minimum if they test positive. My doctor and one of his family also have it. It's very good for me, I don't... -

This unfortunately is all too common, in fact my Dad quit putting lights up outside because of it, which is a real shame. But they can't afford to replace all the bulbs every year two or three times.

ARCHIVED Fda Proposal Allows Gluten-free Label
Viola 1 replied to Moongirl's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I think it is just the stuff that is "naturally" gluten free such as milk, meat (not spiced etc.) and fruits and veggies. All sauces can and sometimes do contain gluten, so they should be labeling anything that ingredients are added to. I doubt whether they would label rice, however, rice with a spice added would be labeled. -
Last spring someone stole two lovely lawn ornaments from someone down the valley, then they drove up to our golf course, stole the flag from number eight green and put the lawn ornaments on the green. We never found out who ended up with our flag, or where the ornaments came from. They are still in the maintenance shed, and we had to get a new flag.

Viola 1 replied to pat e's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
We can only do our very best to avoid gluten in this very gluten oriented world. And over the next little while you will learn where the hidden problems lay. You are right, we can not put our whole lives on hold. But we can learn and do all the normal things are safely as possible. I have ended up with some joint problems that are not reversable... -
