  1. Hi Marcia; No they don't say gluten free on the bags, however, I both emailed them, and called them and they said that they don't use any gluten containing products in any of their chips, and that's all they make at that location. You might want to email them to feel better about it;, I don't think I kept the email from them. Except for the odd time...
  2. At least you have an answer now and can deal with it. I think most of us are bummed about not being able to go out with family and friends and just order "like normal people". I'm fortunate that we do have one cafe in the area where we can just say ... I want the #1 chinese gluten free please ... and leave it at that. We can also do that with...
  3. I don't know if I hate Celiac or the inconvenence of the disease. For the most part ... when I'm at home ... I don't even think about it. However, when it comes to going out or travelling I hate the necessity of being "picky" about ordering food etc. Even after all these years I yearn to be able to walk into a cafe after driving for several hours and...
  4. Hard Bite potato chips are made in a gluten free building. They are made on the West coast of British Columbia, so I don't know if you can buy them in the US or not. Maybe check out there web site.
  5. My doctor told my Mom that he had no doubt what so ever that she had Celiac (4ft. 8in. and all the symptoms) but at over 80 she has no intention on changing her diet. Right now she is on a kidney diet as well, and doesn't stick to that. However, she isn't eating much of anything right now and spends most of her time sleeping. So, she's not in good shape ...
  6. Okay, I haven't had enough time in the Fit Day web site yet to figure out callories, but I'm probably up today for sure. I had B bowl of Nature path mixed grain flakes (gluten-free) with skim milk L Two french toast with syrup (Probably big callories) S will be micro popcorn lt. (I think I practicly live on popcorn (I suppose...
  7. Hi Lorna, welcome to the board. Yes, Celiac disease is a life time thing, although quite often the symptoms are less in the teen age years. Something to do with hormons I'm told. My hair is thin as well from over 30 years of undiagnosed Celiac, although it is healthy now, it will not thicken any more. Good luck with your decision, you will need...
  8. Rusla ... too bad you weren't there to do it. I agree with Cassidy, it's good that there are a lot more nicer people than cranky ones. What a way to go through life
  9. I actually did a write up about these dogs for my "rare dog" section of the Kennel Club newsletter about a year ago. A very beautiful and interesting little dog for sure. But yes, rare does mean expensive, although you may get a pet grade one for a bit cheaper. Maybe check into the American Eskimo if you like the northern breeds. They are not quite so...
  10. Wouldn't that be a shocker! I agree, charge your brother half, it's for his benifit too
  11. No wonder the medical system is in such trouble The emergency is so much more expensive than going to the OB/GYN. That nurse should have insisted that you go in to their clinic and got looked after right away. I'm so glad that the clinic we go to is much better at getting things looked after. When I put my back out they got me in right away...
  12. I made a huge pot of stew yesterday. It had beef (lean) potatoes, carrots, green beans, peas, onions, mushrooms, cellery, garlic and spices of course. It was thickened slightly with potato flour. How on earth would you put a callorie count on that? Just had a slice of Glutino bun with it.
  13. They will also take you off if you are showing any kidney malfunction. They are however, gluten free. You might want to ask why you have been taken off so you can work towards helping your body heal.
  14. Yes! Nelson does have a Save-On-Foods! I sure hope they carry them. I shall look next time I'm in town. Unfortunately, that won't be for another week But I will really be happy if I find them You'll see me do a little happy dance My hubby will disappear down another isle and pretend he doesn't know me. Thank You! And thank you larry mac...
  15. He gave you the results on a answering machine!!! Wow, our office phones and asks us to come and and see the doctor with something like that!
  16. Oh, lucky lady ... we don't have any strawberries around yet So I will dream about them tonight
  17. Joni, that is so funny! Thanks for sharing! Watch that sense of humour from Canadian Karen, it can be dangerous ... You'll want to make sure you have a pee before you start reading some of her stuff
  18. Hi all; it seems I can only get on here once a day now, too many things on the go. I book marked "Fit Day", will check it out hopefully this evening. Thank you so much for the link! I haven't really concentrated on any type of a diet. For my first 55 years I have tried hard to gain weight, then for the next 3 years I was just right, it's only the...
  19. Thanks for this! I see the closest stores in BC are on Vancouver Island, or at least out on the coast. Washington is much closer to us. So will likely go that route.
  20. Welcome aboard! I love your forum name, it would be interesting to hear how you decided on it Nini has a list out for newbies on what you can and what you can't have. Do a search of her name...Nini..click on that and you will find away into her newbie kit. It's very helpful.
  21. Welcome Allyson, I hope you stay with us for a long time. This board is very helpful and kind. Most also have an awesome sense of humour which gets us through the tough times. Michi8...I also love your avatar!
  22. Kinnikinnick is a totally gluten free factory. You can find them on the web as well.
  23. 0...Zero...Zip...Nada...Nothing! Everyone around me thought I was nuts when I got diagnosed. Although that was quite awhile ago, I'm finding that many more people recognize the word now. It is getting better ... by about 1000%
  24. Some of us, including myself have a problem with Caramel colouring. I get gluten like reactions. I just stick with drinking the non-coloured pops like 7-up and ginger ale.
  25. Okay, I'm a little slow about this ... how do you figure out callories on things like fruits and veggies ... none are the same size. And what about things like scrambled eggs, especially when you put things like onions, mushrooms etc in it. I use skim milk, but some times put a slice of low fat cheese in as well. I don't have a callorie book or...
