ARCHIVED Glutino Honey Nut Cereal?
Viola 1 replied to nikki8's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Sorry Katrinamaria, but this just struck me as so funny I've tried both, honey nut and the apple cinn. They are okay, but expensive, and I'm pretty sure I've developed an allergy to cinnamon, so won't buy it again. I've also had the Perky Os .. the only thing I can say about them is that they actually have vitamins in them ... which is more than... -
Now this is a really interesting view point. I've just been sitting here thinking about an uncle that is extrememly rigid in his diet, also "right about everything" no other view points needed around him. Isn't that funny ... I never thought about that before. He's so rigid in keeping his car that you have to clean your feet before you get in it. I...

ARCHIVED What's Normal?
Viola 1 replied to January Flower's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
It's going to take awhile for you to heal ... Also it's going to take awhile for you to realize where all that gluten is hiding. For the first few months you will likely have contamination issues. Things like putting gluten free bread in a gluten contaminated toaster. Or getting all that gluten scrubbed out of baking pans (I went out and bought new ones... -

Viola 1 replied to Guhlia's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I just had a peanut butter and banana sandwich out of their white bread I've been using their product for years. Their angel food cake is awesome ... I buy the egg whites by those little cartons for it. One of those little cartons say that it is equivilant to 8 egg whites, however I always add another two egg white to get it to raise better. We... -

Viola 1 replied to beks4grls's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hello; Welcome to the board, it sounds like you have been doing a lot of reading here If you are not concerned with getting a documented diagnosis, you could try going 'completely' gluten free and see if that solves your problems. By the sounds of things, it might do the whole family good There are pros and cons to getting a documented diagnosis... -
Actually I like raw veggies, having said that, I don't eat a lot raw as I find it hard to digest. And yes, balance would be a problem. If this is "going back to basics", like before cooking ... what about evolution (sp)? I mean aren't we supposed to evolve and get better, and smarter? Besides, people died a whole lot younger in those days. They didn...

ARCHIVED Newly Diagnosed
Viola 1 replied to clikchic's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hello clikchic, welcome to the board! You may be still getting traces of gluten from your make-up, or tiny amounts of cross contamination from old pots, pans etc. It's really hard at first to get completely gluten free. Also, it does take some time for the body to start healing. So you will have some up and down moments. Ask a lot of questions here, there... -

Autumn, I sure hope you are starting to feel better now. Not fun being sick! I spent another day in town, Castlegar again, with hubby. We went in to get a water purifier kit for the house. We have been boiling water for the past three years or so, decided it would be just as cheap to splurge on an Ultra Violet purifing system for the whole house. $4... -
