ARCHIVED M & M 's
Viola 1 replied to squirt2476's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
They sound the same, deffinately Chocolate covered in candy with the letter M on them. Also peanuts covered in candy with the M on them. Both are gluten free in Canada and I'm pretty sure the US as well. Maybe check the bag and see where they are made. If they are imported from here, they are likely just fine. -
ARCHIVED Uristat

I can't help you with that med. But I know about bladder infections. Lots and lots of fluids and big dose of vitamin C will help. In fact if you are a cronic infection person, take vitamin C on a daily basis and it will help prevent them in the future. This is of course after you see your doctor and get rid of this one. I take the time release vitamin... -
ARCHIVED Food Diary "a Day In The Gluten-free Life"
Viola 1 replied to kbabe1968's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I'm not sure we could consider this an adverage day as we haven't done a grocery shopping since the 18th of Dec. In fact, except to go out once for dinner, I haven't been off the property since then. So, we are kinda eating what we can find. Today, Glutino 'cherrio type honey and nut' cereal Lunch ... Cheese Whiz and lettuce sandwich on gluten free... -

Hi Coleen, You're right, this picture does show a bit more shiba. Certainly the ears and tail ... and the colour is very much shiba. Most Shiba Inus are that red ... mine gets really bleached out in the sun, but is a little more red in the winter. She is labled as a red tip cream. Mouse would be considered a red, and then there is a sessame colour, which... -
ARCHIVED Local Celiac Support Group's Leader Makes Me Nervous!
Viola 1 replied to Electra's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Angie, I'm so glad it turned out so well for you ... way to go! Now you will have someplace to check in on and who knows, find a friend to go out with now and then. -
I know what you mean. Any time you go to a new place and food is involved it becomes a conversation piece. I really don't know the answer to that. The whole human social and work scene seems to revolve around food. Funny I never noticed that years ago when I was eating "normal" Guess because we took it for granted. I hope it doesn't become a real issue...

ARCHIVED What Do You Feed Your Dog?
Viola 1 replied to jesscarmel's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Poor Destiny won't be able to eat the good stuff. But you know, Yougurt is supposed to be very good for dogs ... especially if they are passing more than their fair share of gas bombs. She would probably love that. -
ARCHIVED What Do You Feed Your Dog?

YES, the chicken neck has to be raw! If it is cooked the bones become brittle and dangerous for your dog. Only the raw bones are soft and plyable. -

For a small dog make sure you cut that chicken neck at least in half. Sheba is 25 pounds and I give her half, so for a smaller dog I would do thirds. Remember, it does add callories, so you may want to cut back on treats or a little of what ever else you are feeding. Let us know how you get along with it -
ARCHIVED I'm So Confused
Viola 1 replied to JerryK's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Sorry ... I suggested you go to your doctor with it because I am a Canadian and we don't worry about our insurance going up when we have a cronic problem. Things are so different from country to country even though we are connected by an un-fenced border. What you need to do is what is best for you, but if it is Celiac, or gluten intollorance, you... -
Darn, I was hoping that you would be feeling much better by now. Sure hope it doesn't last too much longer Get lots of rest, lots of fluids and get better soon!!!!

B.C. fruit..even the waxed stuff is gluten free. But we have our own fruit trees, so buy very little fruit. Having said that, organic isn't in the budget even for what we have to buy. Thanks Rusla for the information on Black Diamond cheese! I didn't know that. I've always bought Kraft anyway, but nice to know if I ever get in a store that doesn... -

ARCHIVED Quaker Rice Crisps
Viola 1 replied to Tippy's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Quaker has a bad reputation for cross contamination. I once found puffed wheat in the puffed rice that my sister-in-law bought for me, thinking it would be gluten free, because it said 100% puffed rice. NOT -
It's free in Canada. Try going through your national Celiac web site, it should tell you there.

ARCHIVED I'm So Confused
Viola 1 replied to JerryK's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Has your own doctor done a Celiac panel on you? If you want to get further testing, so should be eating gluten right up to the testing time. And yes, you should give the information to your doctor, he or she may not have thought about Celiac disease as being the root of your problems. Good luck with this! -
Hi Tanya, I used to be a member. Make sure you get a restaurant card, and get it laminated so it stays clean It can get really grubby going back and forth to kitchesn. Also get a gluten pocket dictionary from there. Hopefully they will send you one. It really is a good little book to have. I only went to one meeting in Kelowna, and that's over...

You need a live warm one ... now let me think, who do I know in Calgary... hmmmmmm You got an address so I can send someone?

ARCHIVED What Do You Feed Your Dog?
Viola 1 replied to jesscarmel's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Nope, I'm not kidding. We are with the kennel club and at one conformation seminar a professional trainer who shows dogs all over the world told us that if we wanted to keep our dogs mouths clean enough to please a judge to start feeding frozen chicken necks. The ice crystals and soft bones of the frozen chicken cleans the teeth. Sheba went from "you... -

Firstly, remember that 'hopefully' she is not going to be the only one there And of course, she can't restrict your options. Just keep an open mind and take away what you feel useful and leave the rest there. But the best part of these groups is that you do meet people that you can work with, find friends and help each other out. Going to anything... -
That's my Sheba (Shiba Inu) doing a stand stay, but as she spotted a squirrel I wasn't quite trusting her as you can see by my hand.

"D", throwing up, dry mouth, brain fog, muscle pain, blisters, cramps ... did I mention brain fog, shakey, and yup, some more brian fog Do my very best to avoid contamination.

It's a little too chilly for that in Calgary, but you can dance nekked up and down the halls and on the table
