  1. Thanks Karen, I haven't seen Tam on today, we are four hours difference, and with her in University it's hard to catch her. Hopefully she will see my email tonight though ... I'm sure she will get a real kick out of it
  2. I agree with Peter, I've never found an artificial flavour that contained gluten, and in my early days of gluten free I phoned a lot of companies. However, I always check the 'natural' flavour.
  3. I'm going to email it to my daughter, who is now at the University taking journalism. Who knows, maybe she'll take it to class
  4. I've had a problem with Planters and no longer eat them. I don't worry about the toilet paper as I don't eat that, gluten has to be ingested to harm the intestine.
  5. I'm not sure if you could get disability for Celiac here in Canada or not, however, I know that my daughter got a disability grant from the federal government to go to University as she is too small and frail to keep up with the physical work she was doing. It was specified that she had to use it for "equipment" that will help her in the future. She got...
  6. Our oldest daughter has it, our youngest daughter was tested (biopsy only) the specialist said she didn't have Celiac before he did the biopsy, he told her that the blood tests were a waste of his time. I suspect he didn't look very hard during the biopsy (which of course turned out negative) because he already told her that she didn't have it. ...
  7. Welcome to the board srokie, We have various opinions of things, but we usually can speak our minds and then let it go. Hope you stay with us and haven't had your feelings hurt too bad.
  8. Hi Rusla, was your sister tested in Calgary? I talked my youngest daughter into getting tested there, her doctor sent her to a specialist who flattly told her that she didn't have Celiac and this test was a waste of his time, and he wouldn't do the blood pannel at all, but just went straight to the biopsy. In my mind if he already told her that she didn't...
  9. Peter, I would have to add a decade! shhhhhhhhhh
  10. Chapman's has gluten free right on the label I like to support the companies that do that
  11. Hello, Welcome to the board, another one from Canada ... British Columbia. I think there is some from Manitoba here, but can't off hand think of who. There is quite a bit of Celiac awareness happening in this area. You will have to make it your mission to educate some in your area. And no ... I'm not a teenager either But do have a 15 year old...
  12. Hello, Welcome to the board. This disease does throw you a learning curve for sure. But hang in there, you will soon be an old pro. Modified food starch 'corn' is perfectly safe. Also Maltodextrin is safe for Celiacs. I believe that Dextrin is safe also, but check with a few others. With the new label laws in the US Modified food starch is safe unless...
  13. Waht a shame! And doing it to someone that can't stand up for themselves. That's scary. Yes, ... get that doctor involved, and if necessary a lawyer.
  14. Welcome both Jacey and Lynda. It's great that you found this board. You'll find us pleasant, hopefully helpful and sometimes sassy Yes, do remember that you have to be eating gluten for the tests to be accurate. Good luck with those and keep us up to date.
  15. Welcome to the board BlueJeanz. It is funny that one gets frequent urination along with D. I forgot to list that, but you are right, I think it's fairly common. And Amybeth, how could you forget brainfog That always drives me crazy. I get it so bad sometimes that I'm scared to drive.
  16. I'm glad to see someone else eats Perkyo's ... They are pretty good and actually have some vitamins
  17. It's well worth it though if you have a low family income, in Canada I mean

    ARCHIVED Torture!

If you know ahead of time you can bring yourself some pizza and not feel so out of place. There are many frozen pizza crusts you can get ... Glutino and Kinnikinnick for sure. Just pile on what you want. It's pretty good if I do say so myself I know that every year when we set up for our big dog show, the club buys pizza for everyone setting up...
  19. I'm so glad they finally found your problem. I have an Uncle with Crohn's disease, and he has done well on the treatment. I hope that you have the same response with it. Good Luck!
  20. Happy Birthday, I hope you had a super, sunny and fun day!
  21. Hello; We need to know which country you live in before we can help with tax questions. Taxes are so different between Canada and the U.S.
  22. I have been gluten free for many years now, but have been eating soy and dairy for all of those years, My blood tests and the last scope was very good, which indicates that I have kept to my diet really well. I also had a liver test last fall, which also showed no problems. If soy and dairy were a problem, wouldn't those be showing up?
  23. Sheba gets ice cubes in her water too, she chases them around with her nose
