  1. I just made this recipe in my Breadman Ultimate and it turned out perfect! Open Original Shared Link The only difference is I used Hemp milk instead of regular milk. I used the custom settings that were in the thread and they were perfect! I hope it helps. I was really really good bread-it lives up to the 17 pages that promise it is the best bread...
  2. My HDL was 77 and my LDL was 54 the last time I had it checked. I guess they just like the way I taste!
  3. I thought I was the only one. It is so painfull that I can't stand it and I have a high pain tolerance. If I get bitten on the arm, my entire arm swells. I will get 6 bites and no one body else will even get bit. Kat
  4. I would avoid the oats, since you don't know that they are gluten free. The hard part about oats, especially rolled oats is that a lot of times they are stored in the same silos as wheat and grown in the same fields, thus CC. Oats can be a cover crop in wheat and barley fields. I will eat steel cut oats if there are certified Gluten free, but I especially...
  5. I have a great recipe for pancakes if you can tolerate dairy. 1 Cup white rice flour 1/3 cup coconut flour 2 Tbs. potato starch 1 Tbs. baking powder 1 Tbs. sugar 2 Tbs. oil 2 eggs 1.5 cups of buttermilk (I am sure almond or soy milk can be subbed here, but haven't tried it) mix together dry ingredients ina bowl. Add oil, eggs and buttermilk...
  6. I lost most of my 20's to Celiac. I try not to have regrets, because my life is what made me what I am, but it is hard sometimes. So now at 32, I am making up for lost time I would get your own sponges. We have color coded sponges, though not for gluten b/c our house is gluten free. The different colors are for cleaning dishes, sinks, counters...
  7. My husbanded reminded me of this just yesterday. Three years ago, he had to help me up the stairs at Crate and Barrel because I was too weak to make it on my own. Now this is what I did this past weekend: Full work week. Get off work at 6 pm on Friday-go straight to Co-ed soccer game. Played whole game with no sub. Got home around 11. Sat....
  8. I'm from TX, it goes on Anything! One of my favorite easy lunches is grilled chicken breast with rice and homemade salsa verde on top. If you are CF, mix an avacado to thicken it and put on chips Kat.
  9. I have a pretty set course 1. Extreme fatigue-I just can't stay awake, even with starbucks or red bull 2. Swelling and water retention-about 10 lbs worth 3. Sinus type headache for 3 days 4. Constipation the first day 5. Day 2-5 Horrible toxic gas 6. Diarrhea and loose stools for about a week 7. Brain fog stays pretty constant for at least...
  10. Welcome! Never apologize for asking questions-we all learn from each other here. I am sure there are a hundred people lurking that have the same questions as you. OK, I can't answer all your questions, but I may be able to help some. 1. The reaised anti-bodies would be enough for me, but some people need the peace of mind of a test. 2. Many with...
  11. Jessica, funny you mentioned about CVS today. I went in for a follow up on the Armour levels and the Dr. told me they will no longer call into CVS for multiple reasons. One being that they won't stock the name brands with lower profit margins and often substitute for the generics with higher profit margins. The other reason is that they keep telling patients...
  12. It does get easier, but only after it gets harder. I was one who thought I would never mourn gluten foods, because they always made me so sick. But-there is something about telling me I can't that makes me want! I mourned Pizza, spagetti, sandwhiches, you name it. Now I have found my gluten free substitutes and I am happy. I love the Gluten Free...
  13. OK, I didn't even know that Hellman's had a canola Mayo, but I am ticked off too. Just because I am cannot have soy and it is in EVERYTHING! AAAUUUUGGGGHHHH. I have always told people I have more trouble avoiding soy than I do gluten. Kat.
  14. I have to eat out more often than I like, and I live in Dallas, there are several options f)or him. 1) Chuy's on Knox-Henderson is very accomodating. If you ask the server, he will double check all ingredients. Chips and Nachos are OK, Enchiladas are OK (Handmade corn tortillas) make sure the sauce is not thickened with a roux. 2) El Chico has gluten...

    ARCHIVED Chuy's Tex-mex

That is good to know. I need to book mark this thread since I will be going to Austin for a Soccer tourney in Oct. It will be the first out of town soccer tourney since going gluten-free, though not the first overnight trip. There is a huge difference between deciding on a safe place to eat with my husband and getting 16 women to agree on a place that...

    ARCHIVED Chuy's Tex-mex

I e-mailed the Chuy's corporate office yesterday to let them know how much I enjoyed dining there Sat. night and to give praise to our waiter. They responded with the e-mail below: Katrisha- Thanks for writing, we love to get feedback like yours! I'm passing along your comments to the Dallas location, their general manager, and area directors. I...

    ARCHIVED Athlete

Anne Marie, I went through a similiar experience when I went gluten free. I had a surge of improvement about two weeks into it and then backslid for about a month. After about 2 months gluten-free, the surge of improvement came back. I am now running about 1 min per mile faster on long runs and almost 1 min 15 sec. mile faster on short runs. If I...
  18. Larry, What sports does your son play? I run, play soccer and lift weights myself. I have recently discovered Hammer Nutrition supplements. They have an electrolyte drink-Heed, which is very light and not overwhelming. The recovery drink is Recoverite and I like it also. They also have a gel, that I haven't had a need for yet. (too much rain, our...

    ARCHIVED Chuy's Tex-mex

We were celebrating a friends birthday last night and went to Chuy's on Knox Henderson in Dallas. It was a great experience. First when I talked to the bartender, I asked about margarita's and the top shelf is not a mix, with all safe ingredients. Yum! Next when we got to the table, I explained to the waiter that I was allergic to wheat and I would...
  20. I have a super easy Choc. Peanut butter recipe, if you can find the peanut butter. 2 Cup Peanut butter Co. Dark Chocolate Peanut butter Open Original Shared Link 2 Cups Sugar in the Raw 1 egg 1 T. Vanilla Blend together, form into tight balls and cross with a fork. Bake at 350 for 10 min. I made them for work and they were such a hit...
  21. Ryan, I am glad that it is smoothed over somewhat. I totally admire you for the support you give to Alex. My husband is the same way. My mom didn't take it seriously at first either-she would say things like "It's just on the edges" or "You know her, she has to bring her own food" Part of it was not understanding that this is not a choice, part not...
  22. I eat Nature's Path Honey'd cornflakes on a regular basis and have never had a problem with them. Now, if I eat them with regular milk, it is almost like a gluten reaction. Bad diarrea, smelly gas, bloating the whole nine yards, so I eat them with Pacific Foods vanilla flavored almond milk. Just last week I attempted to add dairy back, in a small amount...
  23. Some people have issues with chocolate due to other food intolerances in addition to the Celiac. In my case it is soy. If Soy Lectin is added to chocolate (which it is to most) I will react to it. Most of us cannot tolerate dairy at first, so any milk chocolate would be a problem. Hershey's unsweetened cocoa is fine. I use it all the time for chocolate...
  24. Bare Minerals is Okay. I love the product, but I hate the feeling or look of make-up. It covers all my little imperfections on my face without the caked on, clogged pore feeling of foundation. I bought the starter kit at the end of Feb. for $65 and it lasted me until just now. I only had to buy more foundation because I spilled it Otherwise,...
  25. How about this one I the midst of major allergic reaction to Synthroid (BP is 188/92, resting pulse is 110 normally 68) Full edema and massive hives. Phone conversation with Nurse Practioner: Her: "You have Hives?" Me: "Yes, Hives H-I-V-E-S, you know Uticaria? Allergic Reaction? Her: "Well, that's just dry skin" Me: No, it started the...
