  1. Oh how I miss Picazzos! I was in AZ this past January, right after I went gluten-free and discovered this gem. I have been craving it ever since WWWAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!
  2. My first suggestion is Move to TX OK, now that that is out of the way. 1) I miss a variety of choices in resturants. It seems I am usually limited to just a couple of things everywhere I go. 2) Many of us have additional intolerances in addition to Gluten, so maybe list all ingredients. In my case it is soy and I get "soyed" way more...
  3. Aubry Organics makes gluten free shampoos and conditioners. The conditioner is very heavy and hard to rinse out of my hair, so I switched to Desert Essence-they have an entire line of gluten free products, including lotions, shampoo, conditioners and other styling products. They smell very yummy too. For soaps, I just use oatmeal soap, I can't think...
  4. I am very lucky at work. For my Birthday this year, my staff bought themselves a birthday cake and ice cream and me a fruit tray. For lunch I got a salad and they all had subs. I really appreciated the effort. They still try to learn and are always asking questions, but not in a noisy kind of way. One of my girls even checks her hand cream to make...
  5. I am not a vegatarian, but I have a great, simple recipe. Spagetti squash with marinara sauce. It is so easy and I like it much better than the rice pastas. Just slice the squash in half and bake in the oven at 400 until the outer skin is soft. Usually about 30 min. or so. When it is done, scoop the insides out-it makes long strands like spagetti....
  6. 800 KCal a day is nearly nothing. My first question is are sure it is 800? Are you logging your food in a type of system to track calories? I use fitday.com and I log every bite that goes into my mouth (at least at first, you get pretty good at it once you have done it a while) Don't forget to add in calories for condiments, vegetables, sauces and artificial...
  7. I used to oil the paddle, so it would slide out easier, other than that-I had to mutilate the loaf.
  8. I don't mind at all. PB&J are one of my favorite things and I am not a fan of prepared gluten free foods. I just don't like the taste or textures, but I still crave PB&J so, I improvised-I put Peanut butter and jelly in a small bowl and eat with a spoon. The first time I did this at work, my staff got a kick out of it. They are used to my...
  9. Yes, nuts and honey are Paleo. I am not the biggest honey fan, so I use agave necter alot. YUMMY. As for the sausages, Super Target carries a brand-I think it is Apple Farms (I will double check when I get home) that is fully cooked, gluten-free and soy free. They make breakfast links that are smaller and larger sausage and I eat a lot of those. I...
  10. The premise of the paleo diet is whole foods the majority of the time, with the exception of recovery drinks for endurance athletes. It also limits soy and dairy. I usually crack 3 med eggs on a skillet in the morning while I am fixing my lunch. Flip and then eat. It really only takes about 5 min. My husband cannot get up in enough time to cook in...
  11. It is good, but hard to find. The only place I have been able to find it is Whole Foods. I don't know where you live, but there is not a Wild Oats or Trader Joes near me, so those options are out for me.
  12. I love this book! I read it before being gluten-free and felt the best I ever had, so I stuck to it for a long time. If you can tolerate Soy, then Pacific labs makes a recovery drink that is 4:1 ratio called endurox. I am extremely allergic to soy, so I had to stop drinking it. I miss it a lot.
  13. Hey, I just realized after all the posts on the thread, you never mentioned where the Sweet Potato fries are located! I am always in search of a good french fry and BBQ!
  14. Picazzo's Pizza has a HUGE gluten free menu and it is TOO DIE FOR! But they are only in Scottsdale, Tempe, Sedona and Flagstaff. I miss Pizazzo's. I am almost willing to buy an airline ticket just to got buy me a Pizza
  15. Yea, I found it last week. I was very leery, I always am of soups and such. But the ingredients are safe-tomatoes, water, canola oil, sugar, Modified cornflour, salt dried skim milk, whey protien, cream, spice extracts, onion extract and citric acid. Then it says at the botom-suitable for a gluten free diet. I have not tried it yet, so I am still a...
  16. I reacted terribly to the Giradali's. My reaction to soy is not anaphylactic, but it is severe. The can of cocoa powder had the warning and said "may contain soy" On the Almond milk, I buy Pacific foods almond milk. It is very good and glad I found it.
  17. I am talking about cocoa powder and not hot chocolate mix. I make my own hot chocolate and chocolate almond milk from the cocoa. There have been 3 different brands that I have looked at lately that all had Soy or Gluten warnings on the back. I have tried the nibs, but I have a hard time grinding them up for my drinks. Thank you so much for all the info...
  18. I use cocoa powder a lot for my chocolate fix. I am soy intolerant and cannot tolerate soy lectin, so Giradeli's is out. I cannot figure out if Hershey's or Nestle's is both Soy Free and Gluten Free. Does anyone know this information for me? Thank you so much! Kat
  19. A couple of our quick stand by's include: Tacos-either sirloin cut into strips or lean ground beef and seasoned with Simply Organic taco seasoning Frozen vegetables or precut vegetables from the grocery store Canned Salmon-make like tuna fish, only tastes better We cook about 3 lbs of chicken breast on Sun. Heinze Tomato soup is gluten-free...
  20. I am VERY VERY soy intolerant. Any make-up or hair product that contains any form of it will break my face out and if I am not careful about washing my hands or get shampoo in my mouth, then it will upset my stomach. The biggest culprit for my was my lipstick. I lick my lips alot and you can only imagine. Kat.
  21. That is good to know on Asada's-I have heard it is really good. And I am excited about Cowboy Chicken-I work right off Greenville and used to enjoy it before. The story behind the "Taco Place" is when they first opened two years ago, it was literally 3 tables and the salsa bar-about a 1/4 of what it is now. He has actually done two expansions, and...
  22. LM, I just noticed you are in Wylie. I live out that way also. There is a Taco place on Highway 78 called Tacos y Salsa. All their tacos come on corn tortillas. We ate there all the time before I was gluten-free, because it was the one place that "didn't make my stomach hurt" I still eat there at least once a week without problems. The owners is...
  23. I have used the Spectrum, but had to throw the jar away because it was prior to gluten-free and I think second hand glutened it. Now I have Nature's way, extra virgin. I just love the taste of it, so I use it for all my cooking. It is really good in coconut and rice flour pancakes I bought mine at Whole foods, but I have also seen it at Sprouts...
  24. Adding reply to bump-I would kill for a gluten-free pizza that I didn't make I was in Phoenix this past winter and discovered Picazzo's. It was not long after I went gluten-free and it was heaven. I want to go back just for the pizza Kat.
  25. I worked at McD's for 7 years, before I was gluten-free. I just don't trust the guy cleaning the filter machine (I remember the guys we always had doing it). I have also seen it done in reverse order because it was easier-depends on the Manager on duty on how strickly the order is enforced. It's funny-I had totally forgotten about this as it has been...
