  1. That stinks. When you try so hard to make it work. I guess that is why some people just don't go out. I have been getting gluten sometimes when I go out, but each time I learn something new to ask, and every time I am getting better at ordering out. Hope you feel better soon.
  2. Oohhh, I know, I know. They try, but it's so hard for anyone else to understand. I eat Sunday dinner at my parents, with my kids and my brother's family...and they try to help, but I had to switch my dinner plate twice because of that breadcrumb thing you mentioned , and it is hard. Today I only ate a bit of turkey and mashed potatoes and some salad. (I...
  3. For the tomato sauce, my mother puts grated cheese in..so for chili maybe the fine shredded cheese? Something that would incorporate well...hmm... PS Carla, I am eating my first batch of stewed prunes...not too bad!!
  4. Hey carla..an old trick from my Italian American family.....add a little bit of milk and/or cheese to the sauce..it does something to break up the acid in the sauce and does not alter the flavor a bit. I do not know the science behind it, but my mother does it for my Dad, and it works for him...no more heartburn when he eats it.
  5. NoGluGirl..what a fabulous list!!! I am trying to weed out my cosmetics at the moment and I found that list very helpful too..thanks!
  6. The alien thing, LOL!! I keep feeling like I am pregnant, but the alien comparison is much more appropriate! I think probiotics are great too, and I like the stewed prunes idea..I may try that for myself.
  7. I have 2 small children..and a husband, and I am the only one gluten free. This is how I organized my kitchen, and it is working for us. We have one small cupboard that contains the stuff with gluten, the bread, the cereal, and a couple of other items. The counter above is the gluten counter, that is where the gluten toaster is and where all gluten sandwiches...
  8. I am sorry you have so many limitations I hope that the gluten free diet helps you out. I posted the following in the sports section, according to my husband, it's great stuff, and he buys it online to get the best price.
  9. Prostar Ultimate Nutrition is gluten free except for their cookies n cream flavor. It is a whey protein...my husband uses it and he checked with the company since he didn't want the powder to be all over the kitchen if it contained gluten.
  10. Also, there is this gluten free blogger, the Gluten Free Goddess, (can I post her website here??) she makes a strata with the Van's waffles. (Strata - an egg and veggie and normally bread, cheese combo that you let sit overnight, them bake in the morning...and the Van's waffles hold up!)
  11. Sounds cool...thanks for sharing. I think rolling in chopped pistachio nuts would be yummy....
  12. I feel for you Momma Goose, and all the others that have to be dairy free on top of gluten free... I must admit, I am so hoping that dairy is not my problem.
  13. Fascinating...thanks for sharing.

  15. So JEALOUS! That sounds absolutely fabulous!! Bacon wrapped dates? I need to try that one... And Woodchuck...an old friend I have always love that one! And never liked beer..I wonder if something in me knew something. ;D You make me want one..and it's only 10 am!
  16. I have been having some issues now myself, and have been gluten free for almost 6 months. I have started checking through my beauty products, and you know what? Most of them contain whaet or oats, I just got rid of them, so I don't know if that is the issue or not. You might want to make sure all your beauty/health products are gluten free. I am also doing...
  17. I love Lara Bars myself. And, I also will bring nut thin crackers and cheese, banana and apple. Plain, I know, but the Lara bars do tide me over...
  18. I have 2 favorites... One based on the Sporkie Pizza at Bertucci's- favorite tomato sauce or canned/boxed fresh tomatoes Italian sausage roasted red peppers ricotta cheese(just dropped in little blobs) Shredded Mozzerella Buffalo chicken pizza Gluten free blue cheese dressing spread like sauce Any fresh veggie I have around, I like peppers...
  19. I can understand the whole feeling low thing. I am still feeling so low, and I don't know what to do to get out of it myself. I used to love to cook, and be in my kitchen, now I honestly hate it. I am the only one gluten free, my husband and children do not need to be, and they are so understanding. But I hate something I used to love. And it is overwhelming...
  20. It's crazy what you have to eat when you don't feel well!! Hopefully you can eat a decent supper tonight. (Thanks for posting that recipe!)
  21. My Mom makes the traditional chocolate ones, we called them "black moons". I am so excited to find this one, I can't wait to try it. Have you ever tried to make the chocolate ones? Thanks for posting this!
  22. I got it at my regular grocery store, in the cold section in the salad dept. I bought a huge bottle...I can't wait to eat it!! I think you can order online, but that would be expensive since it has to be kept cold. You can ask your regular grocery store to do a special order for you, my Mom does that all the time, and not because of dietary...
