ARCHIVED Nervous I Glutened Myself
Slackermommy replied to DElizabethE's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I am the only one gluten free in my house as well. And, I do prepare the gluten food for my family. We are getting a good balance now. They have a gluten cabinet and counter where we prepare the gluten foods, and supper is always gluten free. I find that the other meals are easy to keep separate since I make the kids meals first anyway. I hope you... -

ARCHIVED My Major Glutening
Slackermommy replied to TinkerbellSwt's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
That stinks..I thought that Litehouse Blue Cheese was gluten free? (I hate to ask while you feel sick, but have you ever posted your buffalo chicken tenders recipe??) -
I too suffered a lot of body achiness, as well as hand tingling. I have been gluten free for 5 months, and it improved SO much. Recently my arms and hands have started to get so sore again. Deb, I loved your post. I never thought about healing, and how that might hurt. And, I am doing so much more than I did before, and my body is not used to it. It...

ARCHIVED Feeling A Little Bit Sad
Slackermommy replied to runnerjen's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
When I have gotten REALLY down, and I save this for those emergency days...I order myself a lobster and have them steam it, go home and melt some butter, and I always feel better. I have been gluten free for 5 months myself, and I find it a bit of a roller coaster myself... Keep on chugging... -
ARCHIVED I Did Something Stupid....
Slackermommy replied to JerryK's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I did a stupid thing today too. I know the chickens at Sam's Club are gluten free, and today they had ribs out. No label like the chicken though. The guy who runs the meat dept was right there, so I asked if they were gluten free too. He asked some other guy to check the package, and he came back and told me it was gluten free and yeast free too. I... -
ARCHIVED Let's Talk About Constipation...
Slackermommy replied to emcmaster's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I am also in the "c" family. Five months gluten free and I am still not regular. Before going gluten free, I tried Dr Natura's colon cleanse (it's online, I am not sure I can post website), and I think that once I hit 8 months gluten free I am going to try it again, I do know it is gluten free (I emailed them), and I am hoping that really helps me clean... -
ARCHIVED How Long Until Feeling Better?
Slackermommy replied to AllysonBrightMeyer's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
For me, it hasn't been immediate. Baby steps...then suddenly I realize I am doing something I haven't done in a long time...like vacuuming the whole house in one go. And then still have the energy to fold clothes, then read to the kids, and so on...or something like that. I still feel so tired at the end of the day ( I have been gluten free 5 months... -
ARCHIVED Coconut Flour
Slackermommy replied to chirunner's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Yes!! I have a great recipe. (It also on www.recipezaar.com Recipe #205618.) My kids and husband (all gluten eaters) love these. They are fluffy, moist and don't taste gluten free. Takes 2 minutes to mix them up. Coconut flour is high fiber, and expensive, but you use very little. Play with it, it's great. Trust me. Oh, one more tip, they can stick... -
ARCHIVED I Guess I'm Official. Just Got My Enterolab Results.
Slackermommy replied to GeoffCJ's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Well Geoff...I am glad you got the results, I know you were anxious to get them. You know I was recently diagnosed, and I def. feel that the diagnosis is bittersweet. I think that is the best word for it. Great to know. Great we don't need drugs. But completely stinks on special occasions. (I include going out to eat in that one.) The thing Enterolab... -

ARCHIVED Question About Enterolab
Slackermommy replied to LynneM's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I was gluten free for 5 months when I took the Enterolab tests. I had seen an improvement in my symptoms already, so I was feeling that this was the answer (finally)!! But I am a person who wanted to have "proof", and even my husband decided that this would be a good way to check. I got the big deal one, and even after 5 months, I am still not absorbing... -
ARCHIVED How To Teach Family Members About Gluton Intollerance?
Slackermommy replied to a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Welcome and I am so glad for you that you found the answer. And I am sorry about your family. I can only relate in the way people treated me before diagnosis. I think they all thought it was in my head. Or, I was a hypochondriac. You just have to be sure within yourself, and know that you are doing the right thing for you. Too bad if they can't understand... -

ARCHIVED Hello From Newly Diagnosed Author/artist
Slackermommy replied to AllysonBrightMeyer's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I am a new member too...just dx'ed this week. Welcome. -
Hello everyone. I was dx'ed on Monday, and I had just a gluten free shelf, and now I am ready to "tighten" up my kitchen to be more careful about cross contamination. My husband is extremely supportive, but I don't want him to give up sandwiches for work/lunch. We generally have different lunches, and supper is always gluten free. I will be getting my...

I have been gluten free for 5 months...I just remember feeling antsy and shaky. Although, I like the idea about detoxing though. I saw my naturopathic doctor yesterday, and talked to her about this headache I have had for about a month. She thinks it's because I am still healing, therefore detoxing. I thought that was a good theory. Maybe...

ARCHIVED Numb And Beat Up
Slackermommy replied to Slackermommy's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I just wanted to thank you all for responding.. Jestgar - Ok,..wine and cheese..great refocusing there. (that's what I do for my kids when they are upset!!) The thought of wine and cheese makes me happy..I will think of that instead. Artgirl - Yes, we do need to rant. I was nervous about posting and joining "the club", and now I am glad I did.... -
I love mine, and after reading this thread, I checked her credentials and she did graduate from Bastyr as well! (Seems to be a common link here..) (By the way, she is in NH if anyone is looking for a referral to her...) She is the one doctor that listened to me and believed me when I was sick and told me we would find out what was causing this. The first...

ARCHIVED Vans Wheat Free/gluten Free Gourmet Waffles
Slackermommy replied to trents's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I love the Van's Waffles...esp the blueberry and apple ones.. Since I am the only one gluten free, I didn't buy myself a toaster, I defrost mine and pan fry them with butter...yum!!!! I have never had them from a toaster, but I have to say this way so good!! -
I have been going through a lot of turmoil since September, when I started altering my diet, which got me thinking about gluten. I did not have the typical symptoms, and with a family history of autoimmune, without any celiac or gluten intolerance in there, this was never suspected. I searched and searched for an answer, just like most of you and I didn...

ARCHIVED Gluten Free Sam's Rotisserie Chicken
Slackermommy replied to Slackermommy's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I am glad that both of you will find this useful...I buy a chicken a week, it's nice to have something already done. I had heard that Walmart has a bunch of gluten free products, but I haven't looked there yet...
