  1. Good luck! I've just finished 2 years worth of major teeth work. Extractions, 3 crowns, fillings, braces, etc... Uhhh, that pain! But, it's worth it. I have to say, if they could have given me the sedation meds that were used for my endoscopy, I would have teeth work done everyday It was the best sleep I've had in months!
  2. So, my blood work shows positive for rheumatoid arthritis. I have the extreme fatigue symptom for sure. However, my bones HURT in my low back, like my pelvis area, just above the tail bone. It's not a muscular ache, it's a bone ache. Could this be RA? Or more like Osteo-arthritis? Most RA people have issues with their hands and feet from what I can...
  3. Someone brought up turkey bacon. Are most brands gluten free, or is there a specific brand I should be looking for? I've picked it up at the supermarket, looked at the ingredients and put it right back down. Something about "mechanically separated turkey" didn't sit well. However, I need some alternative morning protein besides those good ol' yummy eggs...

    ARCHIVED Doctors In Houston?

Oopsie! Just saw that you replied with a question. Yes, the hypoglycemia is most certainly related to Celiac. My doctor explained it to me and I remember it having to do with the inability to process proteins adequately due to malabsorption. Therefore, the only thing the body can use for energy is the cheap carbs and sugars. Our bodies over respond to...
  5. I guess I'll let the doc take a look. I've never had an ear infection in my entire life, but lately, stranger things have happened
  6. It's my most favorite holiday also and this will be my first gluten-free Thanksgiving. My sweet potato casseroles are always the biggest hit. I've already tried them gluten-free just so I had time to tweek them in case they were a disaster. Can you tell how much I love Thanksgiving...I'm experimenting my gluten-free sides in JULY!!!! I can't wait to show...
  7. Adding to the pile of mounting issues since going gluten-free, I'm recovering from a bought of vertigo. Holly mother of spinning craziness! I have never had vertigo issues before until last night. I was sound asleep and lightly woke up to flip over and BAM, the room started spinning like a drunk tequila binge in college. I'm not trying to make light of...
  8. You have just quoted my life to a tee! I wake up with a flat tummy and go to bed pregnant every night. If I'm out and about, I cannot wait to get home and get out of my clothes and put on my comfy clothes. Geez! So glad I'm not alone.
  9. Pooh baby! I haven't laughed that hard in a long time. HI-LAR-I-OUS!
  10. I always love reading your posts. You have a great sense of managing Celiac. I think most of my issues will subside over time and it's just something I need to wade out. But, I've got this looming feeling like there is one more thing going on that needs to be pinned down. Then I can relax . And I'm glad you mentioned that about the foods. I...
  11. My doctor also doesn't know what's going on with me besides having Celiac. I've got a pretty serious case of malabsorption that doesn't seem to be getting better off gluten. In fact, it's probably worse. I follow a very strict, non-processed foods diet (aside from a 1/2 slice of bread every few days or week). I eat a ridiculous amount of protein (150g...
  12. Oh no!!! That's an awful reaction. Well, at least you know not to touch it versus trying it now and getting a reaction. I had read online that some women get violent violet (hahah) reactions and to never use it again if that is their experience. I'm glad it actually worked on us because I was running out of options. Yeast is so irritating! WHY must women...
  13. My mother and my son were both diagnosed with Epilepsy. It was Celiac the whole time. My mother refuses to get tested, so she's still on anti-seizure meds, but my son is happily enjoying a seizure-free life now. Before I got my Celiac diagnosis, I would have never guessed my son's issue was all because of gluten. NEVER. My diagnosis shed major light...
  14. I have a confirmed Celiac diagnosis and a negative RAST for wheat.
  15. I hope you find the culprit. I know how agonizing breast pain can be. I know when I was breastfeeding we constantly passed yeast back and forth. I had a stabbing, sometimes burning, sometimes isolated pain. Nothing that the doctors gave worked. The only thing that worked was Gentian Violet. You can read about it online. It's pretty much the end all...
  16. Oh and BTW, my mother failed her allergy test on eggs also, but still eats them everyday. Not sure what effects she'll suffer, but could explain her chronic allergies and sinusitis.
  17. Yeah, you know I've worried about that...eating eggs everyday because I know that allergies tend to creep up on the things we eat most often. I'll start eating chicken breasts, or something like that for breakfast in rotation with the eggs because protein shakes don't last long for me even if I have 50g worth of protein in a shake form. I think my body...
  18. My doctor is in the mist of checking me for Refractory as well. I responded pretty well to the gluten-free diet at first, but now most symptoms have returned, minus the low blood sugar. It's very frustrating. My most concerning symptom is the fatigue. It's unlike anything I've ever felt before. I'm awaiting my lastest blood work to rule out amino deficiencies...

    ARCHIVED Doctors In Houston?

Howdy! I use Dr. Ray Verm in the medical center. He's beyond excellent and the Celiac expert that the local support group recommends. Just saw him last week and he's awesome! He's in Scurlock Towers, 6560 Fannin, Ste 1625, Houston 77030 (713-791-1800).
  20. Yeah, that seems to go over better using an allergy. Do you explain about CC? Or just roll the dice? I ordered from the gluten free menu at a restaurant 4 days ago and was sick as a dog, but I never explained about CC. I think that's where I went wrong?
  21. I'm glad I read your post. You are a 20 year veteran and give me hope! I am happy that this adjustment period will fade and I will also become good at eating out. I desperately miss eating out on a regular basis! Just curious. When you visit a restaurant, especially a new one, what do you say to them? Exactly what types of questions and directions...
  22. Wow, your post really hit home for me. I just returned today from a 4 day river rafting trip with my good girlfriends that I work out with EVERYDAY. We know each other very well. They've been with me through this diagnosis, but they've never stared at it in the face as they did when we stayed in this super tiny cabin. It was a big reality check for me...
  23. I was wandering the same thing about getting glutened. I just spent 4 days on a river trip and the very 1st night we were out I was glutened. UHHH. Made for a very long trip away from my bathroom. I chose the restaurant based on their gluten free menu and helpful manager, but it's always a risk. I was willing to take the risk, but then seriously regretted...
  24. Thyroid was just checked last month and came back normal Although, I just saw some interesting studies that said there is a huge lacking in accurate thyroid diagnosis as a patient can present with clinical symptoms, but lack lab findings. Uhhh, another disease that hides under the radar. Wouldn't it be nice if Celiac and thyroid tests were as accurate...
  25. I just looked up nightshades to make sure and I'm free of everything but tomatoes. I rarely eat those except when I have salsa about once per week. Could that be causing fatigue? I've heard some folks talk about neuro symptoms with nightshades and I've definitely lost my marbles...or so it feels like I eat corn about the same amount. I don't ever use...
