  1. I believe celiac disease can effect fertility but not permanently. When you have celiac disease your body is barely able to absorb the nutrients it needs to sustain you let alone another life growing inside of you. Once you take out the gluten and your body starts to heal and absorb nutrients again then your body can support the fetus. There are many stories...
  2. oooohhhhh yum! really? italian beef from portillo's sounds sooooo good right now.....
  3. you could try flax seed oil. also, many people take plain old olive oil but i've been under the impression that using olive oil is more for a "cleansing" than mild C.
  4. if you don't want to try colace i was told by my naturopath that if you take an extra dose of fish oil (the real fish oil, not capusles) before going to bed at night you will go in the morning. i wasn't pregnant but since fish oil is safe in pregnancy i don't see why you wouldn't be able to try that. i took 2 teaspoons at night. although, if you are experiencing...
  5. I don't want to get your hopes up but you could be experiencing implantation bleeing. i'm not sure "when" implantation bleeing occurs in the cycle if you do get pregnant but i know that it sounds similar to what you are experiencing. i would call your doctors office and speak to a nurse. they might have you come in for a blood test. Good luck!!!!
  6. I can't eat rice on a plate but seem to do okay if I occassionally eat rice based products (cream of rice cereal, rice cakes etc.). I have discovered that quinoa makes me super sick. i tried the actual grain one day and thought it was something else I had ate then I bought the quinoa flakes cereal- lets just say i will never do that again..... interestingly...
  7. a woman i know who had MS and started on dr. mercola's program says she hasn't taken an ms drug in six years. she deviated from the diet once and her ms flared up again. his diet calls for a total elminiation of grains. many people believe there is a stong link between grain based diets and diseases. however, as burdee said, there is no money in eating right...
  8. Thanks for the responses. The irritating thing is, I told them up front about my history of reacting positively so they did the chest x-ray and the blood test. the chest x-ray was clear, the blood test was "inconclusive". The last thing I want is to be treated for a disease I know I don't have and that's honestly my biggest fear at this point is they will...
  9. Ugh! I just recently started a new job at a hospital. I was dx'ed with celiac in late February of this year and am just now starting to feel REALLY good so it's taken some time to start to heal. Of course, TB testing is required for this job and I keep reacting positively or "inconclusive" to the tests except my chest x-ray is clear. The Quantiferon Golf...
  10. I tried using mary kay about two months ago and broke out really bad. i can't tell if i got glutened from it as well because the time i started using it was also when we went on vacation and i got sick from something and honestly, it could have been anything from the make up to the food to the counter tops at the condo we stayed in. the rep. i went to gave...
  11. Hi- B/4 being gluten-free I would have horrible D the first two days of my cycle and pretty intense ovulation pains as well. I have read in the past that D in general for any one during their cycle can be normal because of the hormones that stimulate your uterus to contract can also stimulate your digestive track to release since they are so close in vicinity...
  12. This is a very tasty combo. almost like a V8 juice. Handful of spinach 3 stalks of celery 2 stalks of asparagus 1 large tomato Here is where I found it: Open Original Shared Link
  13. Hi- both my husband and I are gluten-free and we thought it might be fun to start a monthly gluten-free dinner group. Basically, one Saturday night a month we would go to some ones home to share gluten-free dishes and have fun! The host of the month would be responsible for the main dish and beverages while guests would be assigned to bring something like...
  14. ElenaDragon- I am 4 months gluten-free and I still can not tolerate avocados. They are really high in fat and oil so I'm assuming hard to digest.
  15. i just assumed something in the juice they sit in or something in the processing of them. i don't buy them for the house, only eat them at restaurants so i never looked into it.
  16. I buy the Mrs. May's in bulk- pumpkin crunch is my favorite, sunflower least favorite but my hubby likes that one. I also really like the Oskri coconut bars because they seem to fill me up if I eat one as a snack in the middle of the day. Right now I have the mango ones which are good but they have other flavors too. Both of those items travel really good...
  17. what brand of pickles are gluten free? i haven't bought any because i thought/assumed they would have gluten in them. yum!
  18. My husband has just recently been diagnosed and I need some easy, heavy duty (aka will keep him happy/full), portable snack options for him. He is already doing chips & salsa, potato chips and Mrs. May's, and sometimes Lara Bars. He's not into the fruit with nut butter stuff (he dislikes nut butters in general) and just a piece of fruit won't satisfy...
  19. My husband and his friend are at summerfest today too (i would have gone but i have to be at work at 630 am tomorrow and we live in Chicago ) anyways, suppsoedly they are serving new grist beer there this year. foodwise i looked at the vendors with my husband and there looked to be several options a celiac could try there. the greek place looked promising...
  20. I found out about celiac because when TTC I either couldn't get pregnant or when I did, I had a miscarriage. We were only TTC for a half a year - it will be a whole year in August so my heart goes out to you after three years! That being said there is hope! I went to a nutritionist who has me on several different supplements based on blood tests she did to...
  21. Ugh! I am so frustrated! I've been sick since vacation (going on two weeks since we got back). I know something on vacation made me ill but I didn't think that I could still be so sick. So I am trying to go back through any new products I'm using and the only thing I can think of is I changed my foundation to a new brand but I thought it was safe based on...

    ARCHIVED Thirst

My co-workers used to say how "healthy" i was because I could easily go through three gallons of water and more during the work week. After I went gluten free i came home one friday and the third gallon i had waiting to go to work was still unopened and i had brought home another 1/2 gallon..... (and I don't have diabetes and my iron is fine)
  23. The Dark Chocolate covered raisins.....heaven! DH and I have been knowen to eat an entire tub during one movie (warning: you will feel sick after doing that)
  24. We went on vacation last week and I got sick. I can't figure out if it was gluten or just I went too far off the diet that has been working for me since diagnosis in March and including foods every day that I don't normally eat except for special occassions. I'm still having really bad BM's every day (we got back a week ago today). I really need to get back...
  25. i'm assuming you are talking about a fresh cake? it is on my gluten-free listing from the Midwest list. I'll have to look for it next time I'm in the store!
