  1. I managed to pick my son up a little early and we picked up some gluten free Bellagios pizza. We took it to his grandma's house for dinner and so that she could see him in his costume. We went trick-or-treating in her neighborhood and then we drove to the Reed College neighborhood for more. There were lots of kids and many of the houses were giving out...
  2. We bring our own food, just to be safe. I like to cook my own anyway, so that we can have leftovers. Here are some recipes that I love: Sweet potato souffle Open Original Shared Link Scalloped Yukon gold and sweet potatoes Open Original Shared Link Raspberry & white chocolate cheesecake (I use Kinnikinnick graham crackers crumbs...
  3. I love this recipe. I use it everytime I make frosting. You should be able to substite the butter with shotening or df spread. You could also use any kind of milk as a replacement. SERVES 24 , 2 cups Ingredients 1/2 cup butter, softened (you can use margarine but the flavor will not be the same) 2 2/3 cups confectioners' sugar 1/3 cup...
  4. Last time I contacted Branchs, they would not claim any of their products are gluten free.
  5. You absorb nutrients using your intestinal villi. Malabsorption in implies villi damage, as related to celiac. And yes, you would have to do a gluten challenge to get the celiac panel. I hope this helps.
  6. Mars will disclose any gluten in their ingredients (they will not hide it in other ingredients). I think three musketeers is made my Mars, so all you need to do is read the label. I think I remember it being gluten free. Wonka/Nestle will also disclose their ingredients. Last October when I called Tootsie Roll they said ALL of their products are gluten...
  7. Here's a link to the Eugene GIG page. They have a list of Eugene restuarants. Open Original Shared Link
  8. Thanks for posting Rachelle. This recipe looks much easier than the one I made.
  9. I use Rodelle pure vanilla extract. It is pricey ($12/bottle) but it is delicious and it SAYS GLUTEN FREE right on the bottle. Also I was watching Good Eats on the Food Network and I guess many of the artificial vanilla extracts can actually be derived from wood products! Any distilled alcohol should be safe. It's nearly impossible for gluten (a...
  10. We go to Picazzo's Pizza in Sellwood or Bellagios's for pizza. The old Spaghetti factory also has gluten free pasta. Here's a link to a blog with a map of gluten free friendly restaurants: Open Original Shared Link
  11. They will disclose any gluten, but they are full of artificial ingredients that tend to upset my son's tummy. It's only the "kiddy" yogurt that does it, he can get regular yoplait yogurt just fine.
  12. I use the featherlight mix for most things. For cakes and breads I add in a higher protein flour, like sorghum or occasionally fava bean flour. You also need xanthan or guar gum. Featherlight Mix: 1 cup rice flour 1 cup tapioca starch/flour (same thing) 1 cup cornstarch 1 TBSP potato flour (I never add this anymore.) ~1 tsp xanthan gum/cup of...
  13. Tinkyada pasta Kinnikinnick animal crackers Kinnikinnick K-Toos (oreos) Kinnikinnick chocolate dipped donuts Glutino frozen pre-made pizza crusts (not sweet like Kinnikinnick, and crunchy) Glutino chocolate crisp (?) bars Glutino crackers Nut thin crackers Outside the breadbox cheese crackers Dr Schar crackers Bell & Evans chicken nuggets Wellshire...
  14. From what I understand the protein powder does not contain gluten ingredients, but it is made in a shared facility (as with the vanilla powder). So what we are talking about here is potential cross contamination from a product that may have been potentially cross contaminated. I don't think that I will worry too much about that unless my son starts having...
  15. We tried the piece of cake bakery and my son got sick (and he didn't eat much because he didn't really like it). They have ONE kitchen that they use to bake wheat and gluten free products. They only address cross contamination by using different colored bowls and different shaped baking pans. Needless to say we never went back!

  17. Hopefully starting today Bellagio's pizza will start offering gluten free pizza. They are the small sizes for about $13 if I remember correctly. They are also mindful of cross contamination, but you may want to ask questions when you order just to be safe. I'm really excited to have semi-affordable gluten free pizza, and they deliver (but I think I'm...
  18. I agree. I love those places! Ever since we found LingonBerries I have never had to order anything online again. They have great products. Picazzo's is also great. We are regulars there and my son has never gotten sick. The staff is also very friendly.
  19. Little Critter Gummy Vites say they are gluten free, as well as free of many other allergens, right on the bottle.
  20. My son was glutened 4 days before his blood panel, and his tTG went from 4 to 17 in 6 months (normal is <21). His pediatric GI said it was not elevated from being glutened and she did not seem concerned, but I was not so sure. I don't think it would hurt to postpone your bloodwork for a month or so just to be sure.
  21. The last time I contacted Mars they said that they disclose all gluten in their ingredients. I think that's the best response to get from a company. Has it changed? I call all the mainstream candy companies each year. (I'll post my results when I get around to it. Most likely mid next week.) I do appreciate the ROCK list, but I find it to be incomplete...
  22. Yum! I love mango and coconut!
  23. Zachary brand is gluten free. I just bought some...and Halloween decorations.
  24. I have not contacted them for about a year, and I swear at that time Jack Daniel's barbecue sauce was NOT on their gluten free list. I'm excited about JD barbecue sauce being gluten free. It was always a favorite of mine, and I'm getting a little tired of Sweet Baby Rays. It's great sauce, but I thing I need a break from it.
  25. On our first gluten free shopping trip I bought those too! I was so happy to buy by son "oreo's." We all do things like this, so don't feel bad. I also did it with rice crispy bars. There is a positive side though. Kinnikinnick makes some really great Oreo cookies, called K-Toos, that are GLUTEN FREE. They are a staple at our house. You may be able...
