  1. As to whether you should get your son tested, yes, absolutely. That is because you have it, and it is genetic- very straightforward. All your blood relatives should be tested, in fact, and I have never heard any doctor say there is a certain age to wait for. But then, doctors can sometimes say some very interesting things..... All I know, celiac can be...
  2. Actually, the rubber tip of a crutch very much resembles the rubber feet on many metal fold-up chairs. Like the inudustrial-y kind? Can't believe we never though of that before...
  3. HAHAHAHAA!!!!!! They're addictive, aren't they? I throw in tons of cinnamon and nutmeg. Although 'a la Bunnie' kinda sounds like I'm being roasted on a spit....
  4. Got 4-5 inches of snow here, has melted off the trees but def still on the ground (and my car). Up until there was already two inches on the ground yesterday afternoon, the weather people were saying 'little to no accumulation expected'. Little to no accumulation my ass! I love it when the stupid people who park on the street get plowed in though...
  5. Pot roast with butternut squash, baby greens with homemade ranch dressing, and cold fried apples. Yes, I make pot roast about once a week. I have a condition.
  6. I'm of the personal opinion that stomach flu is why God created Imodium. Do what you gotta do, baby! Rice, potatoes, peanut butter, tea. Soft, soothing, doesn't-hurt-on-the-way-out food.
  7. Psuezzle! HI! Can't help you with the tech stuff.....

    ARCHIVED Eggs?

Just plain eggs give me horrible gas. But like many others, not when baked into something. What a strange phenomenon.
  9. I threw up after my colonoscopy and creamed graham cracker came out my nose. I think you win.
  10. I can tell you that a lot of people report this effect- they try the diet, and then the first time they have gluten, the symptoms are far worse than ever before. It's certainly not universal, but is quite common. It's really very good proof that gluten is no good for you, if it makes you sick this way.
  11. You wouldn't be suspicious of money that's changed hands in a bakery? Or the shopping cart handle that shoppers push around while eating doughnuts? Children covered in Goldfish crumbs? Don't we recommend that people get gluten-free pet food so their pets don't lick them w/ gluteny tongues? Like I said, it really is ok if it's just me, was only trying to...
  12. White potatoes & broccoli over chicken parm-yum!
  13. Money, books at the library, door handles, small non-gluten-free children, the grocery store/ shopping cart handles, other peoples pets, generally I sort of do always assume my hands are covered in gluten... just how my brain works My only point was that it just seems easier, to me, for someone who is new at this to relieve themselves of any concern...
  14. Well, maybe I'm the only one who ever thoughtlessly stuck their finger in their mouth to remove a popcorn kernel that was stuck in their gums, or a piece of roast beef stuck between teeth, or sat down at a restaurant booth and started eating the chips and guac without washing their hands, or unexpectedly wound up with a mouthful of hair. (which happens...
  15. Just wanted to chime in here- I personally have a very mild wheat/gluten allergy on top of the Celiac. I can wash my hands after handling gluten and be just fine, but I realized while working at a breakfast buffet that some crumbs that had gotten stuck under a large ring on my finger had caused a small rash to break out after about 8 hours. I do not...
  16. What's it matter? We're going to have a Zombie Apocalypse in December anyway.
  17. It is ok to eat vegetables. It is ok to eat fruit. It is ok to eat rice. These things will help you feel more full, and will help you put that weight back on. I know how you feel with being so underweight- it draws a lot of attention. It will get better! I promise! Eat a carrot!
  18. For now, I would just concentrate on the fact that your meals are painless- yay! The weight will reappear, and it will seem like magic. When I first went gluten free, I was so taxed, desperate, and tired, that I ate rice pasta with meat sauce twice a day for three months. Not much nutrition in that being the only thing I was eating, but I still gained...
  19. I totally don't need any oysters....
  20. Dinner tonight is stew- bulk chicken sausage, white potatoes, mushed sweet potato and butternut squash, onions, leeks, broccoli. Liberally seasoned with curry & oregano& basil & cayenne pepper. Will be ready in about ten minutes- we'll see how it turned out! (wanted to add peas but am apparently out.... grr....)
  21. She's been drinkin somethin'.....
  22. Are they good? Was thinking about doing that with butternut squash today!
