I went and got a life, I sowwies...... We went to Maryland this past weekend, and had grand fun with friends. The weekend before that we went to the RI airshow. I'm on my way to a wake ( ) now. On the cake subject: I have always enjoyed cake and pie equally, but only certain kinds of each. I generally prefer apple or pumpkin pie, peach a close... -
ARCHIVED Dealing With The Social Aspect Of Celiac Disease
JNBunnie1 replied to gluten-no-more's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I think it's awesome that your friends want to make sure you're taken care of. For example, my best friend, for my birthday, made me buckeyes. He went out and bought new butter, new sugar, new peanut butter, new chocolate, new vanilla even. And he washed all the dishes like eight times before he started and washed hands a million times during. The only problem... -
I would say that you're getting the gluten in your mouth somehow if you're still reacting. I work a breakfast buffet, and get gluten all over my hands regularly. I am extremely careul, and do not get glutened from my job. I actually had to stop wearing a ring that I wore because the crumbs got stuck underneath and made my skin react, so I apprently have an...

ARCHIVED How Many People Are Actually Self-diagnosed?
JNBunnie1 replied to no-more-muffins's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I am self-diagnosed, I guess. I stoped eating gluten, and then the next time I got glutened, I got the dh rash, so as far as I know the dh rash is a definitive diagnosis. My doc doesn't want me to go back on gluten for tests because I get far too sick and then it'll just screw with life insurance later. -
I use them too, and that is a GREAT idea!

Oh, that's just the lowest possible minimum I could owe. I may owe several hundred dollars more, depending on how badly my insurance shafts me. :) -

Ow. I's mizzuble. I has leftover Dh rash from my last glutening. But more importantly, I had a root canal today. On Saturday, the tooth I had filled in January went nutzoid, apparently it was completely dead and infected, and reached ciritical mass. I haven't eaten solid food in days. It took so much juice to numb it I can't feel my eyes.... -

ARCHIVED Baked Fried Chicken

Crushed rice chex makes good breading, if you do the wet-dip/ wet-dip thing. And you can do honey nut chex with shredded coconut for coconut chicken, and use coconut milk to wet. That was really good when I did it. -

Y'know, I've had one of those, and I thought it was fascinating, didn't find it uncomfortable at all. But then, I felt the same way about my colon/endoscopy, my cyst surgery, every GYN exam I've ever had, I even try to horn in ony my bf's doctor visits, I like medical stuff! Obviously, I'm twisted and my opinion should be ignored.... Dude, Michael Jackson... -
ARCHIVED Frozen Gluten Free Bread?
JNBunnie1 replied to ceyannuzzi's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
That's what I was going to suggest, the Ener-g bread is godawful for eating but oddly makes WONDERFUL stuffing, like thanksgiving stuffing. Not sure how that would work with the cinnamon raisin. -
Endoscopy Tomorrow, And Terrified!
JNBunnie1 replied to foodiegurl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I can tell you that I am very drug resistant and so was really quite aware of a lot of the procedure. I was awake for swallowing the tube and when they took it out, I watched a bit of what the camera was doing inside. I did eventually go completely to sleep for about twenty minutes, after they were done. I thought it was all fascinating. And MAN are those... -
Delay Of Reaction And Symptoms Normal?
JNBunnie1 replied to loxleynew's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I personally take two full days to feel a reaction, and my reactions last for a few weeks. It has definitely gotten less severe with time, I've also gotten better at avoiding gluten. -

Also, keep in mind that this recipe calls for a double rise. You don't do that with gluten free, you only do one rise. So I would mix the dough w/ the onion, probably just shape rolls with my hands and swirl the top with a knife, and rise to the appropriate height. They will probably take longer to bake than the recipe. Flour suggestions: 1 cup sorghum, ... -

ARCHIVED Scope Coming Up Really Nervous
JNBunnie1 replied to ravenwoodglass's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I only have one suggestion. If you're going to be on a liquid diet for that long, I would purchase some whey protein and use that, not any premade shakes. Much more 'food-like' than most of that other stuff. Oh, and you may want to buy some desitin, because with all the liquid your 'output' will be very acidic, and you'll want something.... soothing. If... -

I think that's a silly record. You used the word 'poop' in three different ways!! Padt, would you stop telling people Em is harmless? You're gonna damage her reputation..... :D I'm off to bed (yes, at 7:30pm), le boyfriend gets up at 2am on Mondays. I get an extra hour of sleep, ZERO griping here!!!! G'mite. -

I'm alive!!!! I had a glutening. Apparently, Trader Joe's puts CORNSTARCH in their sour cream, which is apparently CONTAMINATED. So I had the world's worst headache for about a week and some itchiness. Oddly enough, I had ZERO stomach issues. That's what took me so long to figure out what happened (during which time I ate more sour cream, yay) but it... -

If it helps at all, anyone who's that uninterested isn't going to make safe food for you even if they do make an 'effort', so you're better off on your own anyway. There are about two people I'll let cook for me, my boyfriend and my mom. And we all live together. -

ARCHIVED In And Out Of Denial -- And You?
JNBunnie1 replied to velveeta's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
To answer the question I think you're trying to ask, yes, your symptom profile matches Celiac. Pretty much any symptom profile can match Celiac because malabsorption affects everyone differently, but yours is classic. You have peripheral neuropathy, big Celiac symptom. -
