ARCHIVED Question For Old Timers
YoloGx replied to Waverlywoods's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Am glad to hear your heart is quieting down and you are feeling so much better! Yes, I do no processed foods at all. It takes the guess work out of it plus actually is so much healthier. Its much like the cave man diet. For myself I was able to finally add in most gluten-free grains except corn, soy and coconut (or any seeds of nuts) after I discovered... -
ARCHIVED Question For Old Timers
YoloGx replied to Waverlywoods's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I have had substantial improvement and lessening of the duration and difficulty of my symptoms. Only thing is that recently I got glutened frequently at my mother's--and it took me back some paces. I have since left, but now am more sensitive than I was this last year. I expect I will get better again however. At least I am not as reactive as I was originally... -
You haven't said, but I suspect you might still be getting what is knows as "cross contamination" (CC) from gluten. Its also important to no longer buy things from bulk bins given that they are often CC'd by gluten from the dusting/cleaning of other surrounding bins. In addition, its important to avoid trace gluten in soaps, shampoo, makeup, alcohol...

Sorry to hear you are going through this again. I think we both have been gluten-free for roughly the same period of time. One thinks one is over it but not in fact. Things still happen. I have often had a delayed reaction to gluten--as well as a series of symptoms indicating gradual degrees of detoxification from it. This includes joint pain, tiredness...

ARCHIVED False Cardiac Symptoms?
YoloGx replied to Waverlywoods's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hi and welcome! You should get lots of support on these boards. I used to have heart palpitations which stopped after I started taking co-enzyme B vitamins (I like the country life type the best since there is no sorbitol--plus its cheaper) and nattokinase supplements to reduce inflammation and scar tissue. I still take these supplements on an empty stomach... -
I didn't know that DH responded well to benedryl. That is awesome! I use benedryl caps for swelling and itching I get from salicylic acid exposure and it definitely helps with that. Bea

I agree it would be nice to have something more definitive about the transit time for gluten in the air, but nevertheless, experience tells a lot that is valuable--so thanks for the tip! I tried to see the url you suggested by the way and it didn't work--seems to be offline. Thanks by the way to you both. Brendygirl for pointing out how it should...

Wow--I am not the only sensitive person around here. I have gotten glutened from walking through a pizzaria past the room where they made pizzas to use their bathroom. I also have gotten badly glutened from walking through a kitchen after gluten pies were just made. More recently, I got glutened walking in a room that had sheet-rock dust from old construction...

My friend Graeme has this same problem. It seems like it has something to do with an over-toxified liver which in turn affects the skin since the skin is another detoxification pathway. Eating more veggies, especially greens and things like parsley should help. Taking dandelion root capsules or powder in hot tea should also help you detox. Assuming...

I wish I could be more exact. However it didn't take very long for me to notice some important improvements being off salicylic acid for the most part--I think maybe less than a week when I noticed my tongue color improved and my abdomen wasn't so distended. The fact I could finally tolerate eating brown rice, bananas and ripe peeled pears and peeled cooked...

Do let me know. It was only due to a suggestion from someone here on celiac.com that I finally figured this SA condition out. Ironically now I can tolerate some foods I used to avoid, and now avoid many I used to eat that I thought were "healthy". Go figure! Filtered water too seems to bother me due to the coconut based charcoal filters. I have to either...

ARCHIVED Has Anyone Else Experienced This?
YoloGx replied to escanlon's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Both my boyfriend and I have had migraines after eating Glutino products. It might not be gluten free enough for you. For some of us we are more sensitive than the usual 20 parts of gluten per million. I find it much safer not to eat pre-packaged food even if it is gluten-free. I have found it is far better to make food from scratch, and initially avoid ground... -
ARCHIVED Celiac, Colitis, Ibs And Diverticulitis... What Can I Eat?
YoloGx replied to WitchyWoman's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I agree with Shauna. I wish you much good luck! Finding out you have celiac will no doubt prove to be a blessing which can help you finally be on the healing path and heal your gut much better than any surgeries etc. In addition however, in order to speed up your healing you might want to consider going on a basic diet of meat, veggies, squash, brown rice... -
I wonder how you are with aspirin?? I discovered recently my "allergy" or intolerance to aspirin was the tip of an iceburg called salicylic acid (SA) intolerance or sensitivity. It can cause a variety of symptoms including muscle and joint aches, ADD like anxiety as well as intestinal distress and eczema etc. Its not clinically an "allergy" even though the...

I have found that when I get cross contaminated with gluten it often messes up my intestines as well as my joints not to speak of migraines. I also tend to get easily upset or anxious at first, and later depressed with no or little energy. It is at these times I have to be much more careful about my health because I am in fact run down, unable to fully...

ARCHIVED Let's Talk About Willpower In The Face Of Temptation. :)
YoloGx replied to Monklady123's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I find self hypnosis and/or imaging helpful combatting addictive eating -- or any other addictive behavior. If I don't improve, I will get someone else to help me using hypnosis or tapping using EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique). I also often try to replace my craving for something "bad" with something else that is a lot healthier even though it might... -
ARCHIVED Systemic Yeast (Candida) With Celiac?
YoloGx replied to glutenjunkie's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hi WheatChef! Its good to see your input here again. You are so right. I went through some die off when I followed that no grain/no legume no winter squash etc. diet and it helped somewhat. However, despite being on that diet for quite some time, I still continued to have symptoms due to my reaction to salicylic acid (which actually got even worse since... -
ARCHIVED Systemic Yeast (Candida) With Celiac?
YoloGx replied to glutenjunkie's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Oh wow--if the bendryl like vistaril actually works I would expect its not a yeast problem. Of course being off candida feeding stuff may help anyway. However-- for my friend who does have systemic yeast overgrowth problem the benedryl did nothing for him. Does taking baking soda cure some of your symptoms?? If so, I strongly advise you to look into this... -
ARCHIVED Systemic Yeast (Candida) With Celiac?
YoloGx replied to glutenjunkie's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
There are a lot of people here who have this problem. No matter what, I am certain you can find support and info already in old posts if you do a search. There are various sites in addition that address anti systemic yeast protocols that can easily tie in with going off gluten. What some do is go off grains for a while as well of course as sugars and... -
ARCHIVED Best Cleaner To De-Gluten The Kitchen
YoloGx replied to cap6's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I am curious about this too. I don't use 409 since it is so toxic and I react to the fumes! I haven't done well sharing a kitchen with gluten eaters ever. I inevitably get a migraine and or diarrhea and muscle/joint aches etc. -
I am really enjoying reading the recent comments on this thread. Sometimes I feel a little overwhelmed since a number of my siblings are in denial about their likely gluten intolerance -- and my mother is adamant in insisting she outgrew celiac/sprue when she was 18. I just can't change them. They would have to want to and they don't and won't. however there...

I so relate. A year before I finally figured out I needed to be off all trace gluten, I was diagnosed with having reduced myelin sheath (down to 50% of what is normal). Before I went off trace gluten I thought I just had a gluten "allergy." I experimented by going off all trace gluten that I could think of that I might be in contact with, and soon discovered...

So what is wrong with a little curly? It means your body is healing and taking in more of the minerals it needs due to your improved diet without the gluten toxins it can't handle. Your nails, teeth, tendons and bones are probably getting a little stronger too. I have always had a lot of very fine hair. It was always straight and a lot would fall into...

Thanks for your encouragement eatmeat4-life. You are making me think that I really should investigate this matter with iodine more. I hate it about these niggling hunches I get. However more often than not they turn out to be worthy of investigating. I have avoided learning much about DH until recently. I just did not think it applied to me. But now I am...

Hi you guys, I am glad the Hashimoto's info on iodine was helpful. Really the idea is to Prevent it from fully manifesting--so going off the iodine rich foods now could really help. Plus of course gluten etc. Many of these auto-immune conditions are inter-related, especially with gluten intolerance. I am actually now wondering if some of my itchy b%$...
