SunnyDyRain replied to blueeyedmanda's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I know this is really late, but there is a gluten free cooking course offered TONIGHT at our Wegmans! Maybe they will have it again. We normally buy marinades and salad dressings to do that sort of stuff. We really need the cooking class! Anna -
ARCHIVED How I Know I Got Glutened...
SunnyDyRain replied to mamaesq's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Sometimes my symtoms range from canker sores to D to feeling like I have the flu. Depends on how bad i get it. Last night went to applebees and they sprinkled bread crumbs on my meal (WTF!) so all i could eat was the steak, i didn't see any crumbs on it, but alas today I have a canker sore. One Time I ordered a dip with veggies that was usally served... -
ARCHIVED Daughter Needs College Roommate In Fl Fall 09
SunnyDyRain replied to Cath4k's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
You may want to think about if your daughter REALLY needs a Celiac roommate. Usually your first year of college you eat mostly in the cafeteria and they will have to accommodate her meals, changes are she will not be the first or only one, and if she is, then they will have to learn. As for in room eating, it will require your daughter's roomate to be careful... -

Red lobster is usally one of the places i love to go to eat. I usally end up getting crab legs or "pick two" shirimp combo. Salad with no crutons and a plain baked potatoe. Never get sick except when they put the crutons on the salad, but i blame myself for just picking them off not sending it back.

ARCHIVED Help! Pain In Left Side When Lying Down

I'd ask them about your gall bladder, they might have looked at that allready, or not. That caused problems with my father's lungs from the infection of the dead gall bladder inside him. -
I had no idea NSAIDS had anything to do with it! I used to take it alot pre Celiac diagnosis because I had headaches all the time from Gluten. That was 15 monthes ago they subsided, but still usally need a dose every 3 weeks or so for aches or a rare headaches. Is Tylenol safe?

ARCHIVED Cadburys....gluten Free?
SunnyDyRain replied to wilem008's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Hrm, I eat Carmellos all the time, as well as many other Hershey chocolates. (I work on Chocolate Ave, Hershey Pa - 2 blocks from the plant the whole town smells like chocolate, i can't help myself!) I can't say that I i don't have D daily, I do, but they don't give me the tell tale DH on my lips from gluten. I consider hershey's safe, and I know a few... -

ARCHIVED Update And Venting
SunnyDyRain replied to SunnyDyRain's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hey everyone, I had a colonoscopy yesterday.... my colon looks stunning (got the pictures to prove it!) however... i have inflamation and an ulcer in my ileum! From what i have read does that mean Crohns Disease? Anyone have any experince with this? I have to wait until the end of the month for the follow up, but this wait is killing me... -
I always ordered the steamed crab legs, before celiac and now after celiac. Only problems I have is some servers don't remember the "no crutons" on salad thing. But other than that I'm all about Red Lobster!

ARCHIVED Explaining Celiac Disease
SunnyDyRain replied to Sillyyakdidi's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I usally say "It's like an allergy but it kills me slowly starting with my intestines instead of quickly starting with my airways" That gets the point of "Its a bathroom issues that you prolly don't want to know the details" and "it's as serious as an allergy". Seems to satisfy most people and those who arn't i just give more detail but that takes care... -

ARCHIVED Quaker Rice Cakes?
SunnyDyRain replied to kim26's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
My #1 Sure fire way to know if i have been glutened is if I get little pimple like things around (and some times in) my mouth. They are like pimples, but have clear fulid and take a LONG time to go away. Though I have found that drinking alcohol does help the ones in my mouth, next time i will try swabbing my lips in vodka to see if it helps at all. I... -

ARCHIVED Hershey Eggies - Safe Or Not ?
SunnyDyRain replied to NorthernElf's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
From what I understand it may all be cc issues depending on the size of the item. Example... Resses PB Cups, are made in the Reeces Factory in Hershey, but only the regular cups. That plant makes only the cups and reeces pieces. The smaller sesonal pb cups are made in other plants that are used for other non gluten-free products. I only trust full size PB... -
ARCHIVED The Grainless Baker
SunnyDyRain replied to jkmunchkin's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I would take that to route 84, get off the Lake Ariel exit and go towards hamiln. They are right off Route 590 on J&J Road. That is the highway... Then there is the lowway... I know the back roads over salem mountain from carbondale so that is doable too, but I think that is more of a "sunday drive" than get there and get out. Check out google...
