ARCHIVED Diagnosed For 2 Months. Miss Sandwiches. Help?
SunnyDyRain replied to geeze's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I would suggest that you look in your area for Gluten free bakery. If your in the Northeast I suggest The Grainless Baker (www.thegrainlessbaker.com). They deliver bread to little health food stores all over the Northeast US and they also ship (though not in summer.. too hot). I love their bread better than any other premade, mixes are good but I don't... -

ARCHIVED Warning About Strawberries
SunnyDyRain replied to bluejeangirl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
That sounds like an Oral Allergy. Do you have allergies to some plants? (mold, tree pollen, ragweed) I have that problem with cantalope and honeydew, it's not actually to that plant, it's a cross allergy from ragweed. Your body thinks it's the allergen, and starts to react. I don't usally have a problem unless I eat concentrated amounts, or recently had an... -

ARCHIVED Clinique
SunnyDyRain replied to SunnyDyRain's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
There are lots of Gluten free products, the trick is finding them! I use clinique because I have sensitive skin, very dry skin and hate fragrance (all clinique is fragrance free). They are more than just cosmestics, they are created by dermatologists. I also like how I can go to the counter and say, I need this... help! I just feel very overwhelmed when looking... -

SunnyDyRain replied to SunnyDyRain's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I have found clinique to be really good about getting back to me, only problem is quite a few they still need to contact the chemist.... so that takes time. If you want to know right away, call the number posted above. Of course.. that's only if they arn't still checking with the chemist. The I believe the Mild liquid Facial soap has barley in it. ARCHIVED Clinique
SunnyDyRain replied to SunnyDyRain's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
More info! Thank you for your interest in Clinique. While a formulation may contain no wheat, oat, barley or rye derivatives, for the benefit of our gluten-sensitive consumers who may have cross-sensitivities, Clinique takes the extra precaution of including corn, rice and soy in our research. Extra Mild Liquid Face Soap contains corn (sodium... -
ARCHIVED Does Dermatitis Herpetiformis = Celiac?
SunnyDyRain replied to ItchyMeredith's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
After only being Gluten free for 3 monthes, the only thing I don't like about eating Gluten Free is my lack of options when eating out. I hate looking at the menu and trying to think what is safe. Other than that.. gluten free is a breeze. Now the other food intolerances that I have tacked on... that is a different story. Welcome and good luck! It's a... -
ARCHIVED New Here
SunnyDyRain replied to moonlitemama's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I just want to add the difference between Lactose and Casiens. Scince your doctor tested for Lactose Intolerance and it came back negitive, your problem may be with Casiens. Lactose is milk fat, Casien is a milk protein. Even stuff marked "Non-dairy" has casiens in it (cool whip and coffee mate are two big non-dairy items with casiens.) So if you have... -
ARCHIVED Help! Need Good Pasta
SunnyDyRain replied to Dawnsister's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
tinkyada again! I also use another brand for spaghetti Deboles(It comes in a smaller box then the tinkyyada, and there are only two of us, so the smaller box is more convient). That's good too. A note on rice pasta, I've found you need to use alot more water for it than wheat pasta, and you really need to rinse it after cooking and before adding sauce... -
ARCHIVED Catholics: Avoiding Cc For Communion
SunnyDyRain replied to NicoleAJ's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I was going to suggest something like that, but I didn't know catholic church policy on eating the wafer thingy without the ceremony. I know catholics are strict and sometimes have odd rules. Last thing you want is to get sick on your wedding night! I was born methodist, we let it all fly, my mother's minister is celiac also, and she does communion... -

That's almost worth venturing to the Lancaster Area for them. I've been meaning to go venture down there... I'm new to the area and don't get too far out of the local hbg- west shore area. Oh.. perhaps you can ask the caterer to fix you a plate of grilled chicken and what ever else is safe before letting the crowd loose on it? Have you talked to the caterer at all to see what they suggest? They are paying for you to eat, they have to at least TRY!

ARCHIVED Why I Chose Enterolabs
SunnyDyRain replied to Lemonsieur's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Welcome! I always love to hear diagnosis stories... because it continues to amaze me that it's not tested for more. It also amazes me so many people would rather be sick than know! I still battle some discrimination from some people who say "You can't have celiac, your overweight!" This disease manifest in many ways in many different types of people... -
ARCHIVED Progress Report And Decompression
SunnyDyRain replied to SunnyDyRain's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
He just complained about having D that night then took some Immodoum. I don't take Immodoium because I figure if they stuff is bad for me, I want it to get the heck out ASAP (ok it could wait long enough for me to get to the bathroom). I was doing dairy(casien) free, but when combined with the soy problems I found that it was too overwhelming and limiting... -
So when we last left the saga that is SunnyDyRain's life, she was in horrible gas and bloating pain any time I ate anything. Suspecting Soy Intolerance and Candidia overgrowth. Things with my well being has improved. This week I have been pretty much eating Gluten Free, Dairy Lite and Soy-lite. Dairy and Soy lite was if it's a small amount of dairy in...

ARCHIVED Does It Sound Like celiac disease?
SunnyDyRain replied to Julie0513's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
If I were you, I'd demand them to test you for Celiac. I had to demand that I get tested. I got a positive blood test, I felt no need to do a biopsy. I wish you luck and hope you can get some relief. -
ARCHIVED Soy Free Stir Fry?
SunnyDyRain replied to SunnyDyRain's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Unfortunately the closet Whole Foods is 60 miles away in Baltimore. I may try to go to one someday, but until then I will try to avoid using it until I get this figured out. -
ARCHIVED Soy Free Stir Fry?
SunnyDyRain replied to SunnyDyRain's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Thank you! I will print that out for him! We did make it, it really didn't turn out as well as we hoped. We marinaded the chicken in Thai fish sauce, rice vinegar, and chili powder. Then he fried up an onion and some cloves of garlic in some sesame oil, he added the chicken and more fish sauce. When they were cooked, he added frozen stirfry veggies... -
