ARCHIVED Symptoms Of Lactose Intolerance
SunnyDyRain replied to little d's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
It could be lactose, or it could be casien Intolerance. I have a casien intolerance becasue even when I only drink lactaid milk I still got gas and very crappy overall feeling. I'd suggest going a day with no dairy, then getting some lactose milk, and drinking that without any other Dairy at all the next day. If your sick it's Casien if your ok,... -
ARCHIVED I've Got Celiac On The Brain...
SunnyDyRain posted a topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I was just watching TV and there was a commercial it basically was a confrence room they are going around saying problems they are having "I'm stuffed", "I'm so bloated I just unzipped my pants", "I am regretting the bag of chips I had 5 minutes ago" "I'm never eating again" ... I was thinking... is this a Commercial for Celiac? Actually it was a... -
ARCHIVED Share Your Diagnosis Story!
SunnyDyRain replied to MallysMama's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I am relatively new to the diagnosis. Though I believe I have been suffering for years. My junior year in high school I came down with Mononucleosis, It took me about a month and a half to recover (not abnormally long). After that, I seemed prone to get diarrhea quite often. It started out here and there, nothing too alarming. I was a teen I wasn't eating... -
ARCHIVED Need One Dish Recipes To Make For A Gluten-free Friend
SunnyDyRain replied to Dide's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
If you want to do some whole meals, you can grill the chicken, then add some butter and broccoli to the baggy, and seal it up, she can just throw the whole bag in boiling water and cooke the broocoli, heat the chicken.... open and serve! -
Ok, don't mean to rain on everyone's parade.... My Boyfriend worked at Perkins While in college, he said while there was a dedicated meat grill, after a certain time at night everything was shut down and everything cooked on the one grill. Also the eggs and the pancakes and the "toasted" bread for the sandwiches were all done on the same grill. Also...

ARCHIVED I Dont Have Celiac, But Its Ruining My Life!
SunnyDyRain replied to littleone's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Totally agree here! I find nothing more annoying and insesitive when my boyfriend brings gluten things that I love into the house. One time it was pizza and I made him eat it all right then while I was locked in the bedroom. (I admit, I was PMSing and that was first encounter with pizza scicne gluten-free). I don't mind cookies, as long as I have cookies... -
I have to say my D is much different from the D I had before gluten-free. Before I had very little contol over it, and very little warning. Now I can feel it coming a few hours ahead of time. they arn't nearly as "violent". Before I would check where the bathrooms were when I went somwhere, now I can seem to wait till i get home before needing to go. ...

ARCHIVED You Know You Are Having A Bad Day When......
SunnyDyRain replied to Canadian Karen's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Me and my best friend when I was four decided we were going to wash her mom's car.... with brillo pads! My boyfriend when he was 3ish grabbed a hold of a table cloth on someone else's table on his way out of a restraunt.. cleared the whole table. We were bad kids! -
ARCHIVED Am I Being Too Careful?
SunnyDyRain replied to cdfiance's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I'd say try to get gluten free, but I agree it might be hard. I'd buy her a box of powder free latex gloves (if she isn't allergic to latex!) for her to mix paints or wash the brushes. I can see that she may not get alot of paint on her hands painting, but it's the set up and clean up it may get under her nails then she could put them in her mouth. -
I've found that usally gets screwed up on me when I'm searching and reading old posts. Seems like you can access different formats and when you acess an outline, it stays stuck in outline.

ARCHIVED Let's Bombard Places With Gluten Free Questions
SunnyDyRain replied to floridanative's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
Red lobster and Damons are my fave restraunts! I also love Olive Garden, but I hold out no hope for a gluten-free menu there, even if there was, i'd be worried about CC EVERYWHERE! -
ARCHIVED New To All This, I Think I'm In Denial.
SunnyDyRain replied to TortleLisa's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
If you feel tired and moody, might want to make sure your getting all your vitamins and minerals. If your body is starting to really absorb everything, you really need them. Also make sure you are eating complex carbohydrates for some energy. You are off gluten, but are you on good healthy foods? Also, you might notice now gluten-free, you are much more... -
If your going to be seeing your doctor and it really bothers you, pehaps you can get an Albuterol inhaler. It's a pretty safe drug, and I just use mine when I have problems with allergies or exercise or overall damp muggy weather. Just a puff and it opens me up nice.

ARCHIVED Not Meaning To Be To Straight Forward, But......
SunnyDyRain replied to Newbiestudent's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Absolutely! I find it very hard to be sexy and wanted when I feel like crap and have the bloating and digestive problems. I also have more energy and that is a big boost! Now If I could just find more time... for sex... -
My mom has a hard time breathing when she eats wheat, she isn't celiac, (she is resisting testing) but that is one of her main problems. It's also allergy season!

Yeah... I had a hard time figuring out what was happening to me, I was gluten-free but still getting the big D. I first figured out caisens, that helped me, then I had to relearn what is normal for bowel movements. My first lesson was if I eat fruit all day, I'll be on the toliet all night... I was upset thinking I was some weirdo who was intolerant to...

ARCHIVED Parmesan Cheese
SunnyDyRain replied to Terrilyn's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
It might be a Casien Intolerance. How are you with other dairy. With Parm cheese it wouldn't be a Lactose problem, it's an aged cheese. If it was a store brand or some off brand there may be a filler. -
mmmm... philly roll... Damn Casien Intolerance! I'm just scared of Sushi with my Gluten-free Casein-free diet and the language barrier. I should get those dining cards.

That is a question you have to answer yourself. I needed to have some doctor tell me what I was. I got that with a blood test, and that was enough for me. I was not going to stay on gluten and be sick for the biopsy. Some people only diagnose thier problems with dietary response, and that is all they need. I have heard in some countries if you are biopsied...

ARCHIVED Let's Bombard Places With Gluten Free Questions
SunnyDyRain replied to floridanative's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
I agree that this is good idea. Yesterday i was out with my mother and we needed some lunch, so we decided on longhorn steakhouse, figuring I could get a steak and be ok. I asked the waitress if any of the entree were gluten free. She knew nothing about it. I told her a little bit, she said she would go ask the manager. She came back with "my manager said... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free After Gastic Bypass?
SunnyDyRain replied to kramster's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Welcome. I have done some basic research on Gastric Bypass myself, I have given it some thought and have decided now I'm diagnosed Celiac to wait until I get my celaic undercontrol (see if i can loose weight now that my body absorbs stuff.) Anyway, from what I understand from my research is that this diet would probally be a good idea. Most bread and pastas...
