ARCHIVED Product Reccomendation
SunnyDyRain posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Hi everyone! I need a gluten-free mosturizer for my face, that provides SPF protection and does sunless tanning. Olay won't give me a straight answer on thier "touch of Sun" products, Neutrogena's product is for the body, way to harsh for my face. Clinique is still testing theirs and Estee Lauder is also. anyone have any more suggestions? -
ARCHIVED Insensitive Family Members
SunnyDyRain replied to cdfiance's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Right after I was diagnosed my sister came in from the city she brought dessert and the bread, everything else was gluten-free prepared by me and my mom. My sister was insulted and upset that I didn't eat her bread and dessert, I explained it to her again, and she told me "you overthink things too much" It insulted me the most when she said, "You'll outgrow... -
ARCHIVED Did Anyone Have A Red Nose?
SunnyDyRain replied to grey's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
i've had a very red and rosey complextion my entire life. My co-worker noticed about a month after going gluten free that my face is much better looking and even toned. It's still pretty unevem, but I have bad ezcema and very sensitive skin. When I eat something the irritates me, (gluten, soy, dairy) my face flairs up. Even my co-worker looks at me and says... -

ARCHIVED You're Telling Me This Because.....
SunnyDyRain replied to phakephur's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
My best friend said that to me 2 weeks ago. I said "but when it comes to living a long healthy life, wouldn't you rather have that than some pasta?" She replied " I really don't think i'd want to live a life like yours where you need to think about everything you eat and what it has in it. I'd espically wouldn't want to do it longer than I would get to enjoy... -
ARCHIVED Soy Free Stir Fry?
SunnyDyRain replied to SunnyDyRain's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
ok, He did some research, and found some Thai Fish Oil at the store, the dinner had to be postponed until tomorrow, we had thunderstorms bad and lost power for 3 hours. So Tomorrow we are going to try Thai fish oil (dosen't sound too appealing if you ask me) and chili powder ginger and onions and garlic. We will be using chicken and a frozen stir fry mix... -

ARCHIVED Bob's Red Mill Corn Bread
SunnyDyRain replied to SunnyDyRain's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
They came out heavy. Not un edible, but more like like corn bricks than corn muffins. It says right on the instructions to use a mixer on medium for so long, then high for so long. They also wern't pretty, they didn't go into muffin shapes, they just stayed in the plopped in cup formation. 17 minutes seem to be ok time wise, not over cooked, not under cooked... -
ARCHIVED How Do I Make Red Icing?
SunnyDyRain replied to janelyb's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Wilton Cakes has little jars of paste. If you use liquid food coloring you need to ass extra sugar to make it not thin the icing down. I'd call wilton to see if their icing paste is gluten-free, and use that. YOur going to need alot of it, but it will get red! Open Original Shared Link -
ARCHIVED Bob's Red Mill Corn Bread
SunnyDyRain replied to SunnyDyRain's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Ok, muffins are in the oven! They are gluten-free! I halved the recipe, didn't want to make whole bag, only wanted 6 muffins. I had to use Soy milk, only milk i had in the house... and I didn't have a mixer. So I think these things are going to suck! Oh I also added like 1 tlbs of sugar because I tasted the mix and it wasn't as sweet as the jiffy mix usually... -
ARCHIVED Finally Got My Biopsy Results
SunnyDyRain replied to sneezydiva's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I didn't get the endoscopy, i felt blood tests were good enough for me. I still might have to go to a gastro to find out what else is wrong with me. If you think the blood work and dietary response is good enough to keep you on ther diet, go a head start it. If the idea of having to do a gluten challenge if required scares you.. stay on gluten. -
ARCHIVED Bob's Red Mill Corn Bread
SunnyDyRain replied to SunnyDyRain's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Ok, I will try 20 minutes, if the bread is about 25.. and if it gluten-free! I swear it has to be... I would have noticed! I want corn muffins..! I am so bad at baking, I forget it's in the oven and there is no timer on the oven so I need to remember to look at the clock... grr. So much easier when I could jsut buy things I was craving! -
ARCHIVED Bob's Red Mill Corn Bread
SunnyDyRain replied to SunnyDyRain's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I am pretty sure I got a gluten free mix, It was in the gluten-free area of the store, and I know I read the package like 4 times, but I can't visualize it saying gluten-free right now. I will double check but I am like 95% it's a gluten-free mix. I don't think I want them sweet... I only ever had corn bread muffins from the cheap 99cent mixes.. can't... -
I bought a bag of Bob's Red Mill Corn bread mix, but I want to make muffins, not the load of bread. Has anyone done this before? What adjustments do I need? Help I'm culinary challenged!

My mom has fibro, she read a book, sorry i don't know the name of it, but it tells of food that have anti-infalmatory properties that as you eat them it works with the body to reduce inflamation and help her move better. The more active she stays, the better she feels. I know turkey is one of those things that helps her. She also like the 3 day pain patch...

ARCHIVED Can Some Tell Me Of A Safe Bacon With No Msg Or Gluten?
SunnyDyRain replied to bakinghomesteader's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I love boarshead, the deli counter I go to has a gluten free slicer just for gluten-free requests and it's wiped down good before each use. It's rare I get that though, kinda expensive. As far as lunch meat goes, i would never trust anything but boars head. I dont' trust hot dogs, I don't even buy pre made patties, always just plain ground beef. I really... -

Not industrial, but i work for a cleaning company, and we have lots of wet mops that sit around until they get washed, and I think the building is full of mold becasue the whole buildign stinks of dirty gym socks after it rains or on a muggy day. At night they put an Ozone machine on almost nightly to kill mold and mildew in the building. -
ARCHIVED Well, I Went And Did It
SunnyDyRain replied to bakinghomesteader's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I'd test it I think... If i had a week to spare to doing nothing. Now i'm thinking about it I don't know if i could. A friend of mine is allergic to strawberries, and she literally can not eat them. Her throat won't let her eat them and she vomits instantly. The psychological impact of her first allergic reaction and how scared and sick she got psychiscally... -

SunnyDyRain replied to bakinghomesteader's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Only McDonalds would add gluten to bacon! I know I should, but I pretty much concider all unprocessed meats ok... I guess bacon isn't really unprocessed.. but it's not like lunch meat... but then it's not like steak either. I've been bad... But to my defense I saw Glutamic Acid in my Shampoo and got out the shower to google it to make sure I could... -
ARCHIVED Lightheadedness & Weakness
SunnyDyRain replied to New Mama's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I'm not well versed in Diabetes, but I think low blood sugar might be a option. If your body is being drained by BF at night, by the morning you might really need some sugar. That would explain why you feel better after you eat. Do you eat while/after BF? I'd look into that and perahaps be tested for diabetes. that's just my opinion, and i'm not... -
ARCHIVED Back Pain Gone Since Gluten-free!
SunnyDyRain replied to Cyathea's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I had some back pain prior to being gluten free, I went to a chiro, turns out my neck is bending the wrong way and my lower back is turned the wrong way. I was seeing him 3 times a week for 6 mo with minor improvement (he estimated 18 mo to return the natural curve). At that time I was sore daily as he was movign stuff around all the time. Once I stopped... -
