  1. Nope didn't get home till tonight. I am looking forward to getting back to work. No screaming kids there! I also made a cheesecake on sat, it was good. Used walnuts as a crust.
  2. I expected me to have some major meltdown today as I sat starting at my mother's pies and delt with my pumkin custard in a bowl... but I didn't. I wasn't even tempted, I didn't even get glutened with CC! I am very happy with my frist gluten-free thanksgiving and not feeling deprived or isolated from my family by my food. I am giving myself a pat on the...
  3. I can't claim to do much better, my breakfast is non-existant, and more days than not my lunch is a Venti Mocha from Starbucks. I usally only eat a big dinner, about 40% of the time eating out... However... I do have some suggestions. Thai Kitchen Rice noodles. These are like Ramen noodles only more exotic flavors and more expensive with rice noodles...
  4. I work in a company of about 30, and there are two confirmed Celiacs, and i suspect 2 others... but neither of them want to hear it.. they would rather live with "IBS" diagnosis. Oh well.. It's nice that I now have a "gluten-free" buddy so we can make sure that we have gluten-free stuff at our pot luck lunches.
  5. LOL.. I have a big problem with other people eating my gluten-free goodies when they are perfectly ok to eat the cheap and easy gluten versions! Take my raspberry butterfly cookies.... they disappear, the gluten-free stuffing I made... everyone wanted to try it... Now there is more Gluten stuffing left than my gluten-free! I wish people would understand...
  6. I had awesome stuffing! I used Grainless baker bread, sauteed sausage, celery oinions mushrooms, chicken stock, an egg, poultry seasoning, and alt and pepper. Mixed it all together in a casserole dish and baked till the top is crusty brown. It was a bit more soggy than the usual stuffing, but once you smother it in gravy it is just like my mom's!
  7. you only ate four? I can eat the whole box of the pecan shortbread in one sitting!
  8. Actually it forces me to reach for a candy bar that I know is gluten free than risk my chances ordering a salad and finding a cruton. My diet has gotten much worse since I was diagnosed. I still dont' cook much of my own food, it burn alot of it, and when i don't i find it tasteless and boring. So I eat the junk i know is gluten free and tastes yummy, and...
  9. I work in Hershey and I know a guy who work for hershey co and I posed a question to him about this one time. This is what he speculated about this: Regular Reeses are made at the Reeses plant in hershey. This plant only makes a limited amount thing, probally all gluten free items. The other sizes are made at other plants, and those plants can be mixed...
  10. I'm sorry your so stressed. Audits can be hard. We just went through a sales tax audit at work, that had our accountant on edge for weeks. My boyfriend is an Auditor and he is trained to be skeptical of everything. It's not personal, but they need to understand things that you take for granted. They are there to find problems, and they will try very hard...
  11. I was working for a comapny that unfortuantely came down with a rash of cancers and other serious medical problems - seriosuly we were looking around thinking "who's next?". The next year our insurance skyrocketed 30%!
  12. I've been thinking about brusing quite a bit lately, but for the oppocite reason. When I was eating gluten, I would never bruise. There were plenty time i'd nit myself really hard, expect a bruise... nothing or jsut a slight discoveration. Now on the diet I have brusies all over my body, many i don't even remember doing anything to cause it. I played paintball...
  13. Hope things continue to be ok. Keep us posted! *hugs*

    ARCHIVED Red Lobster

I have eaten at Red Lobster several times. I usally am ok, one time I wasn't, but I wasn't 100% sold that it was Red Lobster's fault or a crumb gluteny biscut left on my boyfriend's lips. I always get steamed crab legs and baked potato. - same thing I got pre-celiac!
  15. I eat Red Robin quite a bit, I usally get sick afterwards, but I usally blame it on the cheese I put on the burger. I get sick 2-3 times a week anymore.
  16. I was thinking that myself, I never heard of that.. I started myself on a diet today again. I borked it up as soon as I started, forgot my banana at home this morning, had to make do with a chocolate bar. Bah..
  17. I eat La choy on a almost daily basis, and while i do get glutened alot, It is never because of the soy sauce! I also get the low sodium, because it's better for you!
  18. I am appalled. I wonder if his brushing off of Celiac may have something to do with the pharmacutical company in his pocket. Doctors get money for pushing drugs, if they run us around for 10 years drug hopping that is money they would not get that if they diagnose us correctly the first time. I think if Alba gets a pill for us, even if it to help...
  19. I was angry for about a month, but it was sporatic. I got angry at my BF for having a subway subs for lunch, i was pissed off that they were playing a papa johns commercial on tv, I was pissed that my co-workers were going out for lunch and I was sitting eating rice like the day before. I was never really mad the the universe for giving me celiac, I...
  20. My parents are planning onmoving to Hawaii as soon as they sell thier house here and they visit yearly. They and I suggest VRBO.com for renting condos and stuff. This is great for us because we can cook more and not reliant on restraunts to prepare safe food for us. VRBO is good all over the world, so anywhere you go you can find a rental house.
  21. I was told the extra mild liquid soap has barley extract. Infact i even read it on the bottle. I hope your using the bar soap, that is fine. I have a clinique post up here with all the stuff i have found, Clinque is all I wear.
  22. I think for asthma, it's plausible, but for celiac it's not as critical. I have a post-it note on my Insurance card. I figure once they get me stable, they are going to want to charge my insurance company, then they will find out my gluten staus and then they can care, but they won't be distracted while saving my life. I'll take some busted villi if they...
  23. I have a thread on here with all my clinique findings. I use their products exclusively. Biggest thing you have to be careful of is the mild liquid soap they give out as samples for their 3 step program. that has barley extact in it. It sucks that give it out free with purchases quite a bit. I use the bar soap and that is safe.
  24. If you feel better off gluten, don't eat it. No doctor can make you eat it. Going to a GI may be helpful just to get a good look around, check for polyps - always worry about cancer. If they only do the routine colonosopy, they are not going to see any celiac damage. It's all in the small intestine. If you have been off gluten, they may not even see...
  25. In my measly six monthes on the diet, I have come to the conclusion, to have a life is to be glutened occasionally. I am not a person who eats every meal at home, I'm not a person who deprives my boyfriend of gluten because I'm scared he might kiss me or that his sandwich he made for lunch might have a torrid affair with my rice in the fridge overnight ...
