I am so Jellous of you! All the time when I was growing up we had a huge garden with lots of Veggies and yummy stuff. I have moved out and now I'm really starting to miss all the vine ripe tomatoes that I had all those years. We live in a tiny apartment, we can't have anything outside so not grill, no veggies. We were going to try some herbs on our window...

Ironically The thing I have done differently last night and today was I didn't avoid dairy. Last night I had a Vanilla Frosty because if I'm gonna feel like crap anyway.. I wanted to at least feel like crap while enjoying what I eat. I was worn down and depressed. Today I had much smaller amounts of dairy.. and even tried some soy milk.. still pretty good... -

I am so confused... Today I had small amounts of dairy(2 cups of coffee about 2tbs ea), and small amounts of soy (smart balance non dairy margarine, and then soy milk with some strawberries) I also ate sugar and fresh fruit. I was prepared for feeling like crap and spending the day in the bathroom and on the couch. I was fine. I had some looser stools, but... -

I'm noticing the soy alot now too.. Last weekend I ate alot of soy milk and icecream I wonder if i could just get away with limiting soy, not eliminating, like no soy products, but no worry about soy ingrediants? I guess only time and eliminating it will tell. -

hrm.. so there is non-dairy margerine you say.. awesome. I often wondered if there was one.. but didnt feel like spending half an hour looking at tub after tub of the stuff getting increasingly frustrated and having a breakdown in the store. Now that you mention onions.. i have an idea. I use a rice cooker to cook my rice... if I preheat it, add some... -

i had also heard that they use careegan (sp?) and that can cause gi problems in somepeople. When i ate it i chalked it up to that becasue all i got was GI symtoms, not the rest. -
I understand where coming from so well. I often knowingly take risks with take out just out of lazyness and disorganization. On top of it all, i really can't cook. on top of that I have a tiny kitchen and almost no counterspace to prepare food. 50% of the time i don't remember to make lunches the night before, then 50% of the time, i forget it out the door...

I'm willing to give soy a try, but I really need ideas then on how to flavor stuff. I probally use about 1/4 cup of soy milk a day in my coffee. I used to have problems with coffee, went to decaf, problems got better went back to half reg half decaf without a problem i that was before going gluten-free. i think that was the fact I was eating those yummy... -

If cut out soy, I have no idea what I could eat. I use soy milk, i have tried other milks, and they don't work. I use soy sauce (gluten-free of Course) on my rice. I use Soy sauce on my chicken and pork. I snack on soy nuts and i'm not going to go into the soy hidden in the things i eat. I think I saw an e-mail here from GSK saying sensodyne had gluten... -
Did your insurance cover the visit? I was daignosed by bloodwook by my GP, I had to suggest it to her, she is familar with celiac, but I she perfers to pass it off to a GI. I told her to test me, she did. She wanted me to go see a GI, but I'm scared and she told me to begin the diet and I can see a GI at a later time. I am thinking about going to a GI...

I have been thinking about seeing Dr, Fasano myself, but am worried as I have heard bad things about him. Mostly I heard he is short, expensive, and only looking for test subjects. I am under the impression that insurances don't cover him. Tell me if any of that is true.

I did some reading at WholeApproach.com, anyone know if this is a reputable site? I can totally see this being my problem now, Last weekend I ate SO much fruit and vinegar. I usally never eat much fruit, I just started now with it because I am Gluten-free Casein-free. I have also been lax on artifical sweetener ban, It started with a sneaky Jones Soda... -

Thanks for the Heads up, I have no medical experince, (other than i'm always sick!) and I looked through the jobs, only one I'd maybe be qualified for is Data Entry, but I'm really overqualfied for that. I have a VERY hard time finding jobs, I have a BA in Psych, so I deserve to get paid more than the average HS grad but I have no Experince in psych, all... -

I always have stress in my life, I stress about everything all the time. If I don't have stress I feel naked. Right now I am stressing about trying to find a new job and my parents are planning on moving from Pennsylvania to Hawaii in a few monthes. Also that my boyfriend of 4.5 years STILL won't marry me and we are living in a tiny one bedroom apartment... -

Things are still at it today, all I did use my toothpaste today, it didn't seem to bother me too much, but my coffee has made my tummy rumble. It has tons of sugar in it... so the candidia kinda sounds probable. Is it curable? Can it be tested for? Will do some research. Last night my boyfriend had problems also, so he is convinced it's a bug. I'm still... -
I am so frustrated with my body. Today is the third day in a row I am bloated, gassy and having D. I cannot figure out what is doing this to me.! I am ok everyday until I put something in my stomach. Skittles
SunnyDyRain replied to modiddly16's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
It is worth going to walmart for their gluten-free labeled stuff if you are really really paranoid. I don't usally find it worth the hassle (and I usally get roped into buying 20 extra things I don't need) and just try to buy kraft and conagra foods. I need to read all the labels anyway because of my casien, and other sensitives. Also I like kraft foods better... -

SunnyDyRain replied to modiddly16's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I agree, the gluten-free labeling is wonderful. Some people try to avoid walmart for those reasons I listed it has nothing to do with their food, labeling or cross containation. If you have a Wegmans near you, they have a little G they put on the front of all the products to symbolize Gluten Free, they also mark stuff Vegan and Lactose free. I think they... -

Some of the flavors contain sucralose (splenda). I read one in a hurry looking for gluten and casien, and missed sucralose (used to seeing Splenda instead) and got sick as I have problems with Splenda. -
Skittles
SunnyDyRain replied to modiddly16's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I think the controversy has nothing to do with Celiac, just their business practices concerning women, looking the other way when subcontractors use aliens, running little mom and pop stores out of business, enviromental damage when they cut down acres of trees to build a store, and all the other evils of walmart. I all these things are very good points...
