  1. I have also noticed this... I think that the posts sometimes take a while to come up under the main headings. The first few times I posted a topic, I though I had done something wrong... but I noticed after a few hours that the posts had come up.
  2. Welcome! Yes, I had one endoscopy and some biopsies. I didn't have a second one though. I think it is a good idea to have a second endoscopy/biopsies since you will be able to see if the gluten-free diet is working ie. healing your villi.
  3. I do, although not very often... While you're cooking you just have to be very careful to not touch your face and to wash your hands often.
  4. Like Kaiti said, it may take a while to feel better. After 1 year on the diet, I am just starting to notice big improvements in my bathroom sessions (if you know what I mean). However, everyone will respond differently.
  5. In most situations we have to teach ourselves about celiac disease. If I had done no research and just had the info that the doctor and nutritionist gave me... I would probably not be 100% gluten free. Good luck on the endoscopy and if you have a choice get at least some sedation.
  6. My GI tract is also very sensitive, I just avoid gluten and lactose and limit sugar intake. In general, I eat fruits, veggies, rice, peanut butter, gluten-free bread, gluten-free corn chips, gluten-free french fries, beans, gluten-free soy milk, and rice noodles. That is my "diet". I have been having good days and bad days. On bad days, I look at new...
  7. Where do you guys get this Manna by Anna bread? Online...? health food stores...? I've read a lot of posts recommending it and I'm interested.
  8. celiac3270 is greatly appreciated here. He has helped many people, including myself, and he should be respected. We should all respect each other.
  9. What is the brand name of the chips?
  10. ? This topic has gone a little crazy Back to the original post: I have read that celiacs not on a gluten free diet have a 40% increased chance of getting cancer. That's enough for me to stay on the diet.
  11. Tinkyada brown rice noodles!
  12. That is a really good point burdee. I've heard stories that some doctors will tell their patients that it is ok to cheat. Also, some doctors are so horrible at explaining the diet that some people leave the doctor's office completley clueless, thinking that they can cheat or don't have to be careful.
  13. I can see why the cheating question/poll was asked, I will admit that I was interested to see how many people actually cheated. However, I can also see how the cheating topics can give newbies the wrong idea. When these topics are posted we should always emphasize that cheating is harmful to your health and give examples (like cancer, osteoporosis, infertility...
  14. Bloating is a major issue with me, I still struggle with it after 14 months on the diet. But certian foods make it worse, like dairy (which I avoid) and sugar. I also usually get gas along with it.
  15. The nutritionist that I went to did know a lot about celiac disease. There were a few things that she told me that I did not know at the time, however, most of the things she talked about I already knew. I think nutritionists are like doctors... some are good and some are not so good!
  16. Paula. Thanks so much for your reply and help. Now I can keep eating their products and feel safe! as long as I keep reading the labels
  17. I had extreme hunger after going gluten free, but I also got very hungry before going gluten-free as well. The hunger pains are better now than they used to be.
  18. Thanks Kati, that's what I thought. But does that mean they would only indicate gluten on the label or would thay also indicate if the product could be contaminated such as "may contain traces of wheat"?
  19. Old El Paso is contaminated! Nice... Are you sure? Has anyone confirmed this with the company. I thought that Old El Paso was ok, I eat a lot of their stuff. I know that Humpty Dumpty and Tortilla (Lays) stuff is contaminated and I will not eat that stuff.
  20. If you do have celiac disease, then your damaged intestines just may need more time to heal. This would mean that some gluten-free foods may upset your stomach for awhile until you get better, especially dairy products. Gluten damages the parts of the intestines that absorb nutrients and break down sugars. If the damage to the intestine from gluten is severe...
  21. That is awesome! Hilarious. You might be a celiac if: You're at a party offering food/drinks and you find yourself examining product packages in the garbage
  22. Based on your symptoms, I think you should definately get tested for celiac. However, you have to be consuming gluten in order for these tests to be accurate. If not, you could get false negative results.
  23. Hey stef_the_kicking_cuty, I am also very interested in this research. I have read/heard that broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, blueberries and cranberries, and tomatoes have phytochemicals that help prevent cancer. I know people that do research on blueberries and cancer. I could ask for their journal article references if you are interested. Here are some...
  24. Nope! no cheating with gluten here... accidents... but no cheating. I recently cheated on my lactose free diet (gluten-free pizza crust with skim milk in it) and I was sick for about 3 days after! Not pleasent! and it would be even worse if it had of been gluten!
  25. Welcome! you will find a lot of nice and friendly people here with lots of good advice! Always feel free to ask questions! I hope your test results go well. Let us know how you do. I don't have gastroparesis but I know that it does take a long time for food to leave the stomach.
