  1. April I'd check and see if extra detox helps the symptoms. That may give a clue that is is toxin related.
  2. Ken, gluten-free foods tend to be higher in glycemic index. Maybe a dietician could help? I wouldn't think you are dealing with gluten inflammation since you were at a good weight when you went gluten-free. Just a thought, not sure.
  3. You are early in the healing process, so hang in there. Focus first on removing gluten strictly as there are many hidden sources. The brain fog and sluggishness hopefully will improve. If it doesn't, there may be a further cause that you'll have to detect. For me lyme disease impacts both of these symptoms. Also I recently discovered that even being...
  4. Mslee, seems like retesting through Igenex would be helpful, as much of the other issues could be lyme related. Carla, that's a good point about the hormonal influence of lyme. I know that the sweats were worse in the summer, some nights really soaked; and I was off Zith then too. Just now things are complicated by the discovery that my almonds here...
  5. Morning everyone. I was on Actos for awhile, wasn't a good choice for me. Didn't notice improvement and had a lot of weight gain rapidly. Speaking about food restrictions, I've run into a problem here. So far all the almonds I have found have salt and "flavorings" and no idea what is in them. I just realized that, and also that I started having more...
  6. Kudos to you! A wake up call to a doc and perhaps a breakthrough of help for others in your family.
  7. Well the shipping costs would be pretty prohibitive, plus I don't have freezer space to store that amount. So I am trying to figure out my best option for making it myself at least for now.
  8. Purchased products are typically not fully lactose free, according to what I have learned since started the specific carbohydrate diet. Also goat milk may be better tolerated. You might try making your own goat milk yogurt and culture for 24 hours; it will then be lactose free. But I also agree with avoiding dairy to see if it helps with the constipation...
  9. I had to take two of a strong prescription level pancrealipase combo before I noticed improvement. I am still not able to digest carbs well. My bile levels are low too, all of this makes for difficult digestion. So while I agree with Yolo for the long term, for the short term sometimes we have to compromise. At least I am doing hugely better limiting...
  10. Kassandra, Oh no!!! I hate hearing that you have to have surgery. I know that the GB infection is not something to ignore though. Just wish you could have avoided this and guess it is probably related to something else out of balance. So hope that there isn't a stone stuck in the duct...I know they can only know when they get in there. ...
  11. Yes, I think there has been some going on. I think all the factors have been very complex for me and we are still figuring it out. I think the gut stuff is major. I'm trying to tackle some possible mold sources too. ER  Choir Sherry
  12. April, BTW, I remember reading that the yogurt should be carefully moved to the fridge when finished to chill for 8 hours. Not sure how it would be if you stirred it up right away. I have been satisfied so far with the muffins which I make in a pan, so can be cut into the shape you want. Currently my issue is figuring out a way to make the almond...
  13. Do you take digestive enzymes? What about low stomach acid?
  14. Is AGA referring to antigliadin? If so, it is a strong response to gluten and when you finish testing, whatever other results you get, it warrents a dietary trial. However, the test isn't so specific for celiac. I agree with checking total IGA. Your doctor may not place credence in the stool testing, if he does you are one of the lucky ones. But...
  15. Its a common part of the healing process which should correct itself eventually. If too uncomfortable you may have to temporarily change your diet to be less stimulating with using only very easy to digest foods. Also after gluten-free sometimes other intolerances surface. Dairy could be a problem, try dropping dairy and see if it helps.
  16. Sounds like things are extremely sensitive right now in the healing process. You might take a look at the SCD and see if a temporary switch to a stricter gluten-free diet might help. It is designed for problems such as yours. (Actually either C or D, but the literature mentions D more). That would be more tricky for travel but not impossible. It also...
  17. I can add my daughter's story here. From age 2 she had constant ear infections, ended up with hearing loss. Testing for food allergies and putting her on a treatment drop for that stopped this for about a year, then it came back. The ENT said surgery was a must, but did ABX first and during the wait (with help from my allergist) we took her off milk...
  18. Hmm. Well I am leaning toward a hormonal cause for this right now. It would fit other symptoms (last period in June). Except that off the Zith I clearly have various symptoms coming up, and a fast response. And I think the hot flashes have been worse while off Zith. Guess I'll wait and see if this cycles again with my med switch.
  19. Yes, maybe it is coming to an end! If so we'll all celebrate with you and hope to be not far behind, LOL! I read about retracing last year because it seemed like I was going through that with gluten-free. However, it didn't signal the end for me.
  20. Carla hope you are better today.
  21. I don't sweat very much, it is the chills and extreme hot sensation (where I can't stand wearing a nightgown, touching the bed or anything else) and these keep alternating--that is disturbing sleep. I read in one place that this could describe menopause hot flashes too. I sometimes chill first, then hot flash, with a light sweat coating. Then sometimes...
  22. What about a banana and honey with yogurt whirled in the blender? I don't have any trouble with the honey mixing in when I use the blender; I've been adding frozen fruit though and making a smoothie. I have only tried the foccacia bread made with cheese, so I don't know about that.
  23. Question about night sweats with babesia: do you have chills prior to the hot flash/sweats? Secondly, does sleeping medication help you sleep through these? The spells are really interrupting sleep for me right now.
  24. I am on SCD and my main complaint is constipation as well. On www.pecanbread.com in the dealing with difficulties section, there is a constipation protocol as well. The SCD literature says it is not impossible to do the diet vegetarian. If you have the option to reintroduce meat proteins that might be important to your healing process, though. With...
  25. Those are clear results. If your GP did not run a total IgA, that might explain your negative blood test results. I think if I were you, I would push for a biopsy for yourself. If that is positive and you are diagnosed celiac, it may make your daughter's diagnosis easier. I'd stay on gluten and hang in there until you finish your testing. If finances...
