  1. I would make an appointment with your doctor. Unless you are being reglutened somehow the D should IMHO be relieved by now. You may instead have food poisoning which can cause just D without you having any 'sick' feelings. You want to rule that out. If you have to take a test take some immodium or call your school or professor and see if the test can be taken...
  2. Agree strongly with this. In addition it used to be thought that young people would outgrow celiac because it can take some time for symptoms to appear after we have fully healed. Some will have organs other than the gut effected, issues with thought processes, mood, liver problems, thyroid, joint and muscle issues and so on before gut symptoms become apparent...
  3. If you are going to get tested you do need to go back on a full gluten diet pronto. There are false negatives on both blood and biopsy but there are folks who don't seem to have gut symptoms but are still positive on biopsy. Your regular doctor can order the blood tests but a GI doctor would do the biopsy. The choice whether to test is yours to make but it...
  4. It does sound like DH. The antibodies can take a while to leave the skin so it does take some of us some time for it to resolve. Iodine will also aggravate it so when you go gluten free you also need to delete iodine for a while. The derm needs to be specifically looking for DH and they need to biopsy the skin right next to a lesion not the lesion itself...
  5. That's wonderful. So glad to hear your symptoms are resolving. Feels great doesn't it.
  6. If you were diagnosed with postive blood work your new GP can rerun the blood work to see what levels your antibodies were at. I found an allergist who was good at dealing with intolerances and was mainly responsible for my finally being diagnosed. Not all will deal with intolerances so do ask questions before scheduling an appointment. As far as the dairy...
  7. Please keep in mind that biopsies can have false negatives. She will need to do the diet whether the biopsies are positive or not. If you are going to go for biopsies keep her on gluten until the biopsies are done. I know this is a hard thing to face and deal with but if her blood tests are positive she needs to be on the diet. We are here to support the...
  8. While your at the health food store you could grab some ghee, it is made from dairy but is lactose and casien free. It is basically clarified butter. Coconut oil or shortening is great in baked goods.
  9. I was also told I had IBS for years before the other symptoms set in. When the blood test is positive it is positive. You are lucky and it was caught before it has the chance to destroy her brain, liver, gallbladder, thyroid or another organ, give her osteoporosis, cause a premature menopause or multiple miscarriges, severe anemia or even cancer. I do hope...
  10. Perhaps your problem is casien, the milk protein, rather than lactose, the milk sugar.
  11. Perhaps they realized that many celiacs would rather do the diet than take an expensive drug. Or that the drug in the trials was not as effective as they thought it would be. Haven't heard much about it lately.
  12. You say your doctor said your bloodwork was negative but that he also said you have antibodies. Did you get a hard copy of your results? Some doctors will call a low positive a negative but that is like saying you are 'only a little bit pregnant'. Or did he also do a gene test and you don't carry the genes that are normally considered celiac associated. If...
  13. Have you tried Gluten Free Pantry's French Bread Mix? It makes a great deep dish pizza crust or two thin ones. Even the gluten eaters I know think it's great.
  14. Here are a couple places for makeup. Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link Have you tried a castile soap? Those are mild and might work for you. Tom's of Maine makes some good toothpastes. Crest and Colgate are for the most part gluten free. Shikai makes some good shampoos and conditioners and Giovanni does also but do check the...
  15. You could take a look at the Garneir line. I use their permanent form. Last I checked Loreal had some that were safe also but read the ingredients or call. I do mine at home.
  16. Glad you have had such great luck. I didn't with my old dentist. My gluten reactions are very specific and whether it was a reaction to flavors, CC of the powdered gloves (my new dentist uses unpowdered ones) or something else doesn't matter to me, it was definately gluten. I have had extensive work done with my new dentist, who took the time to check everything...
  17. This is what I was wondering also. There is also the possiblity that she is celiac herself and is in denial about how strict she needs to be. If her husband is abusive and refuses to cooperate she may also be trying to protect him. The child does come first though, always.
  18. You don't have to order special ultraexpensive vitamins you can take ones that you can get at your local pharmacy or grocery store. I take Nature Made, County Life, Now and Wegmans brand. If your doctor hasn't already have your vitamin and mineral levels checked to see what you need to supplement.
  19. The blood tests and biopsies have a pretty high rate of false negatives. If your doctor could see celiac related damage it is quite certain that you are celiac despite the negative blood tests. Since you have finished your testing you can start the diet today. You don't need to wait for the biopsy results. Welcome to the board, ask any questions you need...
  20. Did you let your doctor know about the side effects you were having? You mention anxiety, do you have more symptoms of anxiety than depression? If you do you may need an antianxiety med rather than an antidepressant. Doctors were convinced I was depressed for years, I wasn't I was celiac. Even after diagnosis they wanted me to take antidepressants for my...
  21. Your a great husband to be looking out for your wife. Celiac is autoimmune and injesting gluten causes the antibodies to flare up. Her reactions to 'just one piece of cake' or just a bite of something or even a 'deep' kiss from you after you have consumed or drunk something with gluten will cause those antibodies to start coursing through her body. For quite...
  22. You might want to see if there is any ingredient that you don't use at home that the items have in common. It could be CC but it could also be that they use something you don't that your body doesn't like.
  23. Antideppressants never really helped me at all, in fact they made me worse so I wasn't on them when I was diagnosed. For me the depression was one of the first things to lift and it has never returned except when I am glutened. There is some research that is now telling psychiatrists that if someone does not respond to antidepressants that they should be...
  24. Hang in there. It was about 6 months before I saw a noticeable differece. I did have to avoid gluten grain derived alcohols and vinegars also and am very sensitive to CC so be as strict as is humanly possible. It takes time for the nervous system to heal. For me it was about 2 years before I was fully healed but as I said I did notice a great difference in...
  25. How about the word 'healthy' OP It's sounds like your making good progress. Do be aware that if you want to be tested for celiac that you need to be eating gluten. If you are going to be tested go back to eating gluten now and get tested. Since you have only been off gluten for a couple days a month or so back on gluten may be long enough. If you...
