  1. Glad they got the results so quickly for you. Did they give the results to you? One thing you do want to keep in mind is that false negatives are not uncommon. When you are done with all testing do give the diet a good strict try no matter what the results.
  2. If your doc says your celiac you have a diagnosis. I was really surprised when my fibro and so many other things went away after I had been gluten free for a few months. I never thought everything was connected to the extent that it was. I hope your pain goes away for good also.
  3. Wegmans was what I was going to say too. If you go online to Wegmans.com they have a list of stores and where they are located to make it easier to find them.
  4. Are you taking sublingual B12 along with other supplements? It took a while for me to heal neuro wise and the B12 helped a lot. Are you also eating a mostly unprocessed whole foods diet? If not you should be for a while. It will help keep CC risks down and help you heal faster. I found I am very sensitive and need to be careful of toiletries, shampoos...
  5. I think it's a good idea to call the office and speak to the nurse again and do go into detail. Don't be surprised if she has to call you back as she may want to speak to the doctor before giving you the answers. Do mention that on a previous endoscopy a growth was found but not removed. You may find yourself meeting the doctor for the first time in the...
  6. Just keep in mind that if you are already gluten free tests will be negative. It won't interfere with any other testing though. Since you felt great those first two weeks you are likely right that adding in all the gluten-free specialty stuff contributed to the problems. I hope your back to feeling great soon. Do keep notes on your progress for the doctor...
  7. If your living in a house with gluten eaters then IMHO yes you could get CC'd by picking up crumbs etc from around the house. I think your doing the right thing by washing often but don't get obsessive about it. Just make sure you are washing before you eat or touch your nose, mouth or eyes. I do the same thing as soon as I return to my gluten free home.
  8. Your doing the right thing going in to see the doctor. If you haven't had an endo and colonoscopy those should have IMHO been the first things to have done along with the celiac panel and a full workup. You really need to get right back on gluten until you see the doctor. Make daily notes of what you are eating and the symptoms you are having including the...
  9. Gluten will flare both my fibro and my arthritis. When you are in the bakery you are breathing it in and it is getting into your system that way. Can you get shifts somewhere other than the bakery? Celiac is covered under the ADA so if you are diagnosed you do have the right to request that you not be ordered to work in the bakery. I wouldn't make a stink...
  10. IMHO the truest test is removing gluten. If she improved when gluten was removed that combined with the positive stool tests would encourage me to follow the diet. As the other poster said this: Serological Equivalent: DQ 6, 9 Is what shows she is DQ9
  11. How has your body reacted to going back on gluten? Usually if we have a gluten issue, go gluten free and then add it back in our body will react badly to the challenge.
  12. I do hope it helps you. I also wanted you to be aware of it's side effects since many times doctors don't mention them. I wouldn't wish celiac on anyone but if we have it it's important to know as soon as possible to prevent some serious and sometimes irreversable damage. The diet is tough to follow in school. If the med doesn't help do talk to the cafe folks...
  13. Yes it is similiar to amytriplimine which I was given also. For me it did absolutely nothing but add to my drug regime. It may help the OP a bit but if the underlying problem is an intolerance it won't do anything for the gut symptoms. As you said it will not fix the underlying problems.
  14. You may need to avoid dairy for a bit. Or at least stick with hard cheeses like cheddar and yogurt. Many of us can't tolerate dairy until we heal a bit. I hope your feeling better today.
  15. It could also be all the soy that is in them (I think they have soy protein but could be wrong). I thought lots of stuff was CC'd until I realized that I was also intolerant to soy. My reactions are similiar to gluten but without the neuro stuff. I didn't know the difference for a long time. It can be really hard to figure stuff out and many of us do develop...
  16. The drug your doctor gave you is an antidepressant. I am giving you a link so you can learn about it and the side effects. Do not drink alcohol or take any other depressant drugs while you are taking this. Be sure to check out the side effects of this drug so you can be aware if they occur and contact your doctor immediately. Many of us are given antidepressants...
  17. I agree that you should get some sublingual B12 supplements. B12 is one that it can take some time for the labs to show the deficiency and some of the ranges are still set too low. It is a water soluable vitamin so you can't take too much as your body will simply excrete the excess. Give the sublinguals a try for at least a couple of months.
  18. Peoples sensitivities really vary. It is going to be hard for anyone to tell you what precisely you reacted to. I'm really sorry you are feeling so lousy. It may also have been just to much sugar for you. You could try items that contain only one of your suspect ingredients and not the others to see if you react. Like for example get some potato starch and...
  19. Glad you figured out they were what was bothering you. Some of us might be able to get away with drinking them but your body has told you that for you they are out. I hope you get back to feeling better soon.
  20. Yes 200 ppm is too much in my opinion. I wouldn't touch them. The FDA is considering the 20ppm limit for gluten free food but the laws are not in place yet but when and if they are these items would not be allowed to be labeled gluten free.
  21. Have you dropped dairy out of your diet? You should for at least a couple of months. If you are consuming more soy than you used to it would be a good idea to avoid that also. When you are feeling better you can add them back in one at a time for a week and watch to see if your symptoms return. Also what are you eating? It is best to go with whole unprocessed...
  22. I don't know a great deal about genes but I do know one thing and that is that you can't use them as a for sure and for certain that she does or doesn't have celiac. Some doctors feel that you need to be either DQ2 or DQ8 and if you not you will never be celiac. That is false thinking. With the DQ9 that she has, well that is a gene that I am familiar with...
  23. Actually I think you are right. Spelt is wheat and I do think someone allergic to or intolerant to wheat would react. But I could of course be wrong.
  24. Oh gosh no! If she gets sick from a little CC she will get very, very sick from a challenge. Testing herself with soy or dairy was what I meant. If she is still consuming those have her drop them and then if she is feeling better she could add them in one at a time and see if symptoms return. I suggested that because she is still feeling ill even on the diet...
