ARCHIVED Any Adverse Effects To Not Eating Wheat?ravenwoodglass replied to coriforia's topic in Related Issues & Disorders Most of the vitamins that are in wheat products are added during processing. It really doesn't have a lot nutrition wise to begin with. We do because of celiac have problems with vitamin levels before we are completely healed though. Many of us do supplement particularly the B's, calcium, magnesium and D. You could ask your doctor to do a panel to check...

ARCHIVED I Cheated Today! :(ravenwoodglass replied to Laurelf's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease You definately have to try the Gluten Free Pantry mix. It makes a deep dish pizza so good I bet even your gluten eaters will love it. I usually refrigerate the dough so it is a bit less sticky, even then it has to be spread with a spatula but it is sooo worth the trouble. Since I live alone I usually devide it into two and freeze one. I thaw it in the...

ARCHIVED Gluten In Eggs?ravenwoodglass replied to travelthomas's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications Not all celiacs have problems with eggs. If you want maybe do a board poll and see for yourself how many on here have no issues with them. I am a very sensitive celiac and super strict and eat eggs with no issues. Some of us do have other intolerances and/or a leaky gut that allows other proteins to cross over into the blood stream and would cause us to...

ARCHIVED Is There A Gland That Causes The Gluten Consumption Problems With Celiacs?ravenwoodglass replied to Becci's topic in Related Issues & Disorders No, a celiac reaction is an antibody reaction. No glands are involved just your immune system reacting to something it considers a poison. Of course when the antibodies start their attack glands and virtually any other organ, can be effected but they are reacting to the antibodies.

ARCHIVED I Cheated Today! :(ravenwoodglass replied to Laurelf's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease It is possible to have negative blood work and really be very sick not just in the early stages. Some of us just don't show up positive on blood work and those of us who don't can suffer for years if doctors rely only on them, like mine did. I hope your reaction doesn't get any worse. Make sure you let your DH know how much pain your in. I would...

ARCHIVED Introducing Gluten To A Toddler When The Rest Of The Family Is gluten-free?ravenwoodglass replied to BlueTaelon's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease I agree completely with this. If she doesn't have an issue with a food there will be no reaction, period. Also be aware that if you are challenging gluten foods with her you should give it to her three times a day for a week before you decide she is fine with it. Reactions can be delayed. In addition even if she does not react now that does not mean she...

ARCHIVED Mouth Retainers -invisalineravenwoodglass replied to Tigercat17's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease Lisa, I would talk to your dentist about using anything other than a product designed to clean your appliance. I would think a through brushing would be enough to clean this. I recently got a dental appliance and my dentist warned me specifically not to use bleach to clean it. You should ask yours if you should use a denture cleaner or if perhaps hydrogen...

ARCHIVED Had Lyme Test & Several Lines Say Neg. 1 Says Present Westen Blotravenwoodglass replied to Internal-Disaster's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut Are you on the diet yet? If you have recently been diagnosed with gluten and casien intolerance I would get myself strictly on the diet for a couple of months and see what symptoms you are having that might clear up. Your in a great place to learn how to do so and to get some support in the process. Give the diet a chance to help and then if you are still...

ARCHIVED Celiac Panel Positive, B12 & Iron Normal?ravenwoodglass replied to alevoy18's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms Celiac can definately cause nerve issues. In some they can get so bad that they mimic MS. The good news is that if gluten is causing the nerve issues they should resolve. I would suggest taking a sublingual B12 to speed the healing a bit. Not all neuros are knowledgeable about the celiac/nerve connection. If mine was I would have been diagnosed years...

ARCHIVED Help Me, Sympoms Of Insanity?ravenwoodglass replied to RacerRex9727's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease I would take a real good look at all your eating or coming into contact with. For me what you are describing would be gluten but if it started up again after adding soy back into your diet the first thing I would do is drop the soy. If your living in a non gluten free house it could be CC getting you. You are using your own condiments, butter, jams, pnut...

ARCHIVED Premature Menopauseravenwoodglass replied to Waiting's topic in Related Issues & Disorders After you have finished all testing be sure to give the diet a good strict try. Not all of us are picked up by testing but your body will give you the answer.

ARCHIVED Laundry Detergentsravenwoodglass replied to D. Quinn's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease You do need to take precautions at work. Make sure you always have gloves on and if there is a lot of baking or working with powdered gluten going on do wear a respiratory mask also. If possible try to limit your contact as much as you can. If gluten is in the air your breathing it in and it is getting into your system. That said it can take a long time...

ARCHIVED Food Avoidance And What To Do About My Situationravenwoodglass replied to Christina98's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease You need to listen to the doctors and get yourself on the diet. The sleep issues the depression, the adrenal issues may all very well be due to your continueing to consume the stuff you are reacting to. I do hope when you say your 'detoxing' from the Ambien that you mean you are stepping down the dose and not that you just cut it out all together suddenly...

This is going to perhaps sound weird but barley has that effect on me also. Your freind is wrong when they say teeth don't 'feel'. We do have nerves in our teeth and also in the surrounding tissues. I guess they never had a toothache.

ARCHIVED Awaiting Diagnosis, Have A Few Questions...ravenwoodglass replied to mhalpin12's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis First the bloodwork, doctors were so sure that I had celiac that they redid the blood tests over and over and over...but they kept coming back negative so noone even told me what the test was for or that the chances of it being a false negative was high. I had the same experience you did with the biopsy, the doctor biopsied the lesion and I was then told...

ARCHIVED Is Endoscopy Needed?ravenwoodglass replied to amlance's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms I agree completely with the previous poster. IMHO if you have seen a good resolutions of symptoms and you have had positive blood work and you have been made ill by the times you have accidentilly gotten gluten, well you really have your diagnosis.

ARCHIVED I Just Wanted To Introduce Myself, Glad I Found This Site!ravenwoodglass replied to Kat'sMom's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease Welcome to the board. It will be hard for her at first, it is for almost all of us. You may find she is a bit tempermental for the first couple weeks as many of us do go through withdrawl but it will lift. You have found a great place for support and info and it may help her to join also and check out the teen section. There is a lot to learn, make sure...

ARCHIVED All Butterfingers Gluten Free?ravenwoodglass replied to JanelleD's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications There are times when the small varieties of a particular candy bar are not safe when the larger ones are. We see this around holiday times when special versions of them come out. I don't know if they use different plants for making them or what it is but I would stick with the larger varieties that you know for sure are safe.

ARCHIVED What Tests To Get?ravenwoodglass replied to Googles's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease Also if your health center isn't knowledgeable you could call your doctors office and ask them to send a lab slip to you or to the health center with the tests. That would also insure that their office gets the results to add to your file.
