  1. I would drop the dairy and quit eating out for a while. If dairy is the issue the vomiting should stop. I would also talk to your doctor about this, not everything is gluten related and you may have something else going on. If you can make your home gluten free that would be ideal, your kids are young and most likely will not be bothered by eating gluten...
  2. The dairy enzyme will be helpful if you are reacting to the sugar in milk, lactose, but wouldn't help with an intolerance to casien, the milk protein. The same area that is damaged by celiac is the one that produces the enzyme to digest the milk sugar and some folks after they heal are able to handle dairy with no issues. It would be a good idea to limit...
  3. I think Starbucks was referring to the coffee in their shops. When we get anything from a place that sells baked goods there is always a risk of CC so I think they were giving a CYA statement.
  4. I found this in Wegmans today but can't find any gluten info on the website. I can't call till Monday and wanted to have it for dinner tommorrow. Has anyone ever tried this and know the statis?
  5. If you have been gluten free since 08 your test results will be negative no matter whether you are celiac or not. You would need to do at least a 3 month gluten challenge for any chance at a positive result. If you have had fantastic results with the diet then you really have your answer.
  6. Hi, I am going to address the issues that I bolded in your query. First off there are some of us who don't show up in blood work. If memory serves me it is about 30% according to the NIH. Next you had celiac changes that your GI found, the mucosal changes, and you have 22 ft of small intestine. The damage from celiac can be patchy and your doctor may...
  7. I never showed up on the blood tests so that is a question I really can't answer. It was the reason I was so sick for so long and that it took so long to find that I had celiac. Also different people respond differently to the diet. You should post the question in the Post Diagnosis section and see if others who did show positive on the antibody tests...
  8. Hello Paul, I replied to you on the other post where you asked how to get in touch with me. I hope the reply is helpful to you.
  9. Yep you do sound like you could be one of the family. One thing that is important is that you make sure you keep eating a gluten diet until all the testing is done. After you have your scope you can then try the diet, you don't have to wait on the results. You may have the answer before you even go to the followup by your response to the diet.
  10. Do not be afraid to call. I was a chef for years and most want their customers to be happy and safe. I would suggest calling at an off time, after lunch rush and before dinner perhaps between 2 and 3 or call in the morning and ask for the chef to call you back when they have time. You could also ask to speak with the manager and ask if they have any regulars...
  11. Hello, For me to get better I needed to eat only fresh whole food. I ate meat, chicken, fish, eggs, vegatables and fruit that was not processed in any way other than cooking them at home. I do use some frozen foods but only vegatables that have only the vegatable as an ingredient. In the beginning I did not eat any special gluten free foods and I still...
  12. Check out the home page here you should be able to find some info. If you are going to do a trial of the diet the easiest and safest way to start is with whole unprocessed foods. Plain meats, veggies, fruit, eggs and rice. You need to avoid wheat, rye, barley and oats. Some of us do tolerate oats but it is hard to find them uncontaminated and is best...
  13. I have gotten your message and replied to the topic. I will be happy to help in any way that I can. Krista
  14. I saw that you were trying to contact me and were unable to. Please let me know here what your question is and I will try to answer.
  15. I was able to get them to stop sending, along with a lot of the other mags that I used to subscribe to. I sent a letter with the invoice stating that their magazine was a cover to cover advertisement for prescription drugs and that I was no longer reading magazines that advertised drugs. (Of course that now leaves me with only National Geographic and mags...
  16. I did. I was thankful in the long run that while I would get the headaches only once a month or so, if I had the pain everytime I had the aura's that would have been almost as debilitating as the day and night D. It took a while for the doctors to figure out that the vision issues were migraines as they thought I had MS for quite a while and that the eye...
  17. I like Now's Cocoa butter and jojoba oil. That is literally all that is in it. For me it absorbs well and doesn't leave a greasy feeling. If you can't find it locally they have a website www.nowfoods.com
  18. One of my favorites is Pamela's Baking Mix for stuff like muffins and such. Tom Sawyer's gluten-free flour is my favorite for stuff like scalloped potatoes and dredging meats. When I was first diagnosed I tryed using a variety of single ingredient flours but once I found the mixes there was no turning back for me.
  19. It can take a while for a gluten reaction to clear the system. It is also hard at first to tell what really is gluten free and what isn't when it comes to processed food. One thing that may help a bit with energy and thought processes is supplementing with sublingual B12. If you can go with a really 'clean' diet of unprocessed foods that will help insure...
  20. It is up to the individual to decide whether they want to risk it or not. If someone is new to the diet IMHO they should avoid them until they are healed. Then if you want do a challenge with them, eat them daily for a week being sure that all your other foods and drinks are safe and if you still haven't reacted they may be okay for you. I am very sensitive...
  21. For some of us there is definately a link. I haven't had a migraine since I went gluten-free....unless I get glutened. Gluten can be a neurotoxin for us and for some the neuro issues are present even before the gut stuff.
  22. Hi Dan, Well now you know that the breakouts were most likley DH. One thing I do have to mention is that with you being pretty much gluten free most likely your blood tests will come back negative. DO NOT take the results as proof positive that you don't have an issue with gluten.
  23. There are some that are not gluten free, Hormel labels their gluten-free varieties and Kraft will clearly label gluten ingredients. Your best bet is to contact the company directly to ask. As for deli slicers the risk of CC is high. I personally avoid deli products for that reason.
  24. Do they have you on any diabetes meds? If so you may want to talk to your doctor. In my case my high blood sugar reading directly correlated to being glutened. Off gluten they are normal.
  25. There is also Enterolab testing. They do stool testing to look for antibodies that your body will form to gluten. They DO NOT diagnose celiac disease but they can tell you if you are making antibodies to it.
